I disagree, it's for much, much more than you think, and compositing is relatively easy in MEP but not as sophisticated as in Vegas. That said, don't compare MEP with Vegas Pro; a more realistic comparison would be with Video Pro X.
@john-brown Is it possible to set the Compositing Mode for a track, or something similar, in MEP 2022?
@Photo_G please remember that MEP 2022 is a MAGIX product, supported at magix.info. I'm sure john-brown will be pleased to reply there.

@Photo_G No, what you see is what you get with MEP, the only ways to composite are the chroma, B/W masking, track/event opacity,,, compositing is just a way of layering things so MEP has the fundamentals but there's no composite function like in Vegas,
I've already got TotalFX7 via a years ago purchase but have now bought MEP 22 Plus with the TotalFX offer. Even if uninstalling the existing TotalFX7 package and then installing the TotalFX package via the MEP purchase, NBFX kept on activating via the years old purchase SN - no option to activate via the hours old purchase. What I had to do was to install the new TotalFX version (which seems to be exactly the same as the old version) was by installing it on another computer. Now both TotalFX serial numbers appear on my NBFX My Account products.
It's all still good - Travel Maps is really good - and the mp4 render (finalise) imports easily into Vegas Pro. The only thing I don't like all that much is that the nodes created for the travel path bleed a bit through the rendered path even when the opacity of the path is full strength.
As Gid says, compositing in MEP and Video Pro X is rudimentary compared to Vegas Pro. However, what can be done is pretty much what 99% of users want or need, and even then, just understanding how to use a mask is a major undertaking for most users.
Vegas' 3D space compositing is amazing, but likely beyond the grasp of understanding of most users.
I was thinking more along the lines of what can you take advantage of in a second (or third) product that you don't have in your main tool, especially if you have the program. MEP has Song Maker wizard and SlideShow music that can be used to advantage. If you have MEP (and downloaded the additional content), you have the music and audio loops. Song Maker uses Soundpool loops to create songs and does it with an embedded version of Music Maker. The user never sees this, just the result. There are some tools to adjust the duration and emotions. You can, of course, open the songs and loops (for non-commercial use only) directly into Vegas. There is more, but that is enough for here. Another example, I keep Pinnacle Studio around just for using Scorefitter and a few effects that I don't have elsewhere.
@john-brown I agree with you. I have Pinnacle, MEP, Vegas and Resolve Studio on my computer. My "go to" is Vegas, but Pinnacle/VPX/MEP have some wonderful automated features that speed up editing. Pinnacle's multicam editor (6 cameras and 2 audio tracks) is brain dead easy to use and works. The same with their Split Screen editor and Montage themes. The same can be said about MEP and it's templates.
TFX7 is in all my editors. My only complaint is Titler Pro 7 which just doesn't work for me and creates havoc starting and exiting Vegas. I wonder if someone can get TFX6 as a downgrade where Titler Pro 6 works. Others in the Vegas forum have complained about TP7 being terrible. I have been in contact with NBFX tech support and am waiting to hear from them.
@Reyfox ... both TP6 and TP7 suffer from a preview screen lag when making a change in TP's workspace, TP7 less so but it still exists. Even today with TP7, the rebuilding/scrub timeline advice appears before even a minor change in TP7 can update on VP19's preview window.
Further, TP6 and 7 lost the ability when adding TP as an event rather than as an FX to an event to display in TP's workspace the lower track video event. The only way to get TP6 or 7 to display a video event in TP's workspace is to add it as a VFX on that video event. Titler Pro 5 did not have that problem and could be added to an upper track as a Media Generator event and display in it's workspace the lower level video image. The downside with TP5 was that it was prone to lose memory of the TP project and it was often and regularly necessary to re-import the project assuming that the project had been saved in the first place.

Update: I found the thread below that walks through setting up a composite with alpha on MS/MEP 2022
@Dexcon I've thrown in the towel on getting TP7 to even open in Vegas. Reset Vegas, delete cache, uninstall TP7, make sure OFX Plugins doesn't have anything there, delete also Titler in NBFX folders.
Finally TP7 is working on my computer. I did a drastic, remove everything NBFX related, including Titler EX which has been around on my computer for years. I used Revo Pro Uninstaller to hunt down everything. I chose the "nuclear" option. Delete everything.
Once done, installed TFX7 and all is well. Everything is working as it should in Vegas. For the price of $50USD for me upgrading MEP2016, it was worth it. TotalFX7 and a different editor to mess with when I have spare time.
@Photo_G when I read of something working on other systems and not on mine, I have to figure out what is wrong with my computer. I've had various NBFX plugins installed on my computer and wasn't sure if there were conflicts. But TotalFX7 has all the plugins I already had, so no problem removing everything previously installed.
I should have done that in the beginning. Now, everything is working as it should. I am quite happy.

@Reyfox@Reyfox I did a similar nuke option but for a slightly different reason, I think i mentioned this before or maybe in another thread, I had 6 or 7 NB packages, Stylizers would never stay activated & often had a red cross through it, when i bought this MEP + Total FX offer i uninstalled everything NB, or thought i had, i installed the Total FX package but i still had red crosses through some of the fx's !!! 🤷♂️😒🤔🤯 So i went to Settings on the PC, System - Storage - Temporary files & deleted everything in there, the red crosses on my NB fx's went away 😁😁👍
