@j-v - And yet, as a result of an official Support ticket, I got this “advice” from MAGIX. What’s what here? Do I or don’t I?
Yess I got also official Support of Magix because I think the deveopment team is too busy and let it handle by other Magix employees or the tickets goes to the wrong place. To me they have given answers from which I could conclude they know nothing about Vegas video software.
For now I 'm not confused but against other messages about this kind of cases I think the integration of Vegas Creative software into Magix has still a long way to go.
@Sylk - Wow... didn’t think of that. Atrocious. But why does a MAGIX Support Agent invite/get me to D/L it? That’s a conspiracy too far for even me. Seriously, Derek says one thing and his very own Support person says another?
That article is made by a person who does know not so much about modern cards and Vegas latest versions. What do we get to allow CUDA? What is the gaine of using Open GL on this subject or do I miss something? That are for me the only 2 settings where you can choose not the default setting of Nvidia's choice at installation of its driver.
I have installed that driver on two pc's and also done the add profile to the 3d settings, no problems up to now with the driver, and once I setup the profiles for Vegas in the 3d settings my timeline playback plays nice and smooth now on 4k playback.

@Former user I know you’re a good communicator, but the crucial essence of your points you’ve made are lost on me. I feel real dumb 😟 sorry.
@Grazie Well in this case, I relied on someone else’s communication skills i.e. the link I supplied, mainly because I also forgot to implement it. Simply put, follow the link and you’ll see how he adds VP to the Nvidia Control Panel. Right click the Windows desktop to select, then 3D, then add.
Without doing this you may not get all of the benefits of Nvidia card in Magix VP.
Rt Clk on desk top to open nVidia control panel. Select 'Manage 3D settings'. You are faced with a simple control panel. Select 'Program settings and add Vegas to the list. You simply add VP17, then scroll down and add your nVidia card. If you find a significant improvement in performance you can repeat the operation & say add VP16 to the list. Seem to recall this process from a few years back. I suspect being a nVidia control panel your nVidia card would be auto selected by default & you only need to list VP.
The process is quite painless. If in doubt take notes or simply take a full system image as a fallback. Enjoy!!
Hi, what i can tell you, is that the GameReady 436.15 never switch my GTX1080 into the eco mode. Power, Frequencies, Temperature never drop. So i'am back under the 4xx drivers for now. I suspect NVidia wants toto accelerate death burn our GPU and boost their sales...
Sorry for gossip. After properly drivers uninstalling (via DDU) and reinstalling the 436.15, Eco mode is back! Earth will live a few more years.

@Former user - Ah, right! Yes we did this some years back. I remember.
Without doing this you may not get all of the benefits of Nvidia card in Magix VP.
@Former user Sure.

@diverG - Indeed! I seem to remember advocating the same 😂.
Look, most honourable Vegsters, I wished to note that I got conflicting advice from MAGIX, eg Game or Non Game Drivers. In another recent thread the level of Official Ticket Support has too come into question. Having @VEGASDerek and @VEGAS_EricD jumping in, we also gotta do some Home-Cooking and look after ourselves. There’s no recent VP17 sticky? Maybe our most venerable @vkmast could/can organise one?
Sure, it’s good to be reminded of the 3D thing. However, that’s not why I posted.
Just remember that step is only meaningful if you're making your Magix settings different from your global settings... otherwise you can just enable or disable specific features on the global tab. The author in that article never shows us what his global settings are so it's not clear why he had a need to single out Magix on the application tab... and in all the screen entries we can see he leaves the global settings unchanged anyway. I imagine it only becomes significant if your global settings are optimized for gaming or some other video editor and you want those tweaks disabled or others enabled when you fire up Magix.

Maybe worth to mention about adding Magix in Nvidia Control Panel, in case some may have overlooked this step.

If it's true what he suggests then it could be due to default global setting being OPTIMAL POWER, That driver setting only came out in 2016. If vegas pro's engine, and gpu support are really dated with various patches to make it not look quite as bad, then maybe vegas doesn't know about OPTIMAL POWER mode, and instead expects ADAPTIVE POWER mode which existed before 2016. You could set that mode just for vegas.
I agree It doesn't seem to make sense with that techgage guy did, Did not alter power modes, although he does see performance benefit.
