Pro Post 365 User Upgrading To 22 Requiring Deactivation

Kyle-Malone wrote on 8/5/2024, 6:09 AM

I am a Vegas Pro Post 365 user and I am, for the time, keeping my current contract. According to this email, I should be able to use Vegas Pro 21 and 22 on my current system. However, after downloading and installing 22 I am being asked to deactivate my current system. The one I am actively running 21 on, right now.

There have been no hardware changes since I last activated on this computer. I DLed a new installer for 22 from the website versus clicking the upgrade button on 21 for fear of losing 21. Should I do the "upgrade" instead through the pop-up when loading 21? Will that keep 21 on my PC? Thanks for any help!

@Kyle-Malone does this help (from the main FAQs post, point 9.):

"VEGAS Pro 365 can be used on 1 device at a time.

To deactivate a device, so you can activate a different one, visit your MAGIX account > My Products > Show More Details > Deactivate. This option can be used only once a month.

In VEGAS Pro 14.0 or later, you can also choose Deactivate the Software on this PC from the Help menu This option can be used as often as you wish. An internet connection is required."

(Ref. "In my case (Vegas Pro 365) i had to deactivate VP18 before i could activate vp19.")

If this does not help, try VEGAS Support.

I also have Vegas Pro Post 365 (21) and I upgraded to Version 22 when it prompted me. It also had me deactivate my system. Both 21 and 22 are on my currant system. When I start 22 it calls home and tells me my license will expire in 12 days. Version 21 on my system will start and it asked me to upgrade to 22, even though I have 22 on my system already. I put short video events on both versions, and both 21 and 22 rendered out with no problems. I will purchase 22 in the next few days.

VEGAS Pro Post no longer exists, so your subscription will be moved to VEGAS Pro Suite. If you choose to keep the subscription active, VEGAS Effects and VEGAS Image will continue to work, but only as standalone apps, the direct integration with VEGAS Pro no longer works. You will still get VEGAS Pro 22 and all the software bundled with VEGAS Pro Suite as well, so there should be no reason to have to purchase VEGAS Pro 22 as long as your subscription remains active.

Systems:

Desktop

AMD Ryzen 7 1800x 8 core 16 thread at stock speed

64GB 3000mhz DDR4

Geforce RTX 3090

Windows 10

Laptop:

ASUS Zenbook Pro Duo 32GB (9980HK CPU, RTX 2060 GPU, dual 4K touch screens, main one OLED HDR)

I understand that, my concern is deactivating my current system to install 22 despite being told I can run both at the same time. I can't afford the time fighting to get something reactivated through Vegas/MAGIX themselves. Thanks for responding!

You shouldn't have to purchase anything though. We are told we can keep both. My biggest fear is not being able to go back to 21 for a month after deactivating... I can't afford the time loss if I have to fight with Magix/Vegas themselves. Thanks for responding.
