Great feel better that someone has also recreated .... I have raised a tkt with Magix - but no response yet. Is there a better way to feed this in ?

@Sargan

For the time being: I managed to use Video Stabilize by cutting off the first and last parts of the video untill abouthalf the lenght, then made a subcip and used on that subclip the stabilizer and it ended normal.
Maybe you can use also the old legacy stabilizer of Vegas.

I have been using Virtual Dub/AviSynth for now and the Deshaker script, but would obviously like to get Sony stabilizer working as much simpler & quicker.

j-v wrote on 7/11/2019, 6:23 AM

@Sargan

I tried that legacy stabilizer for you with the whole clip and it gives a much better result than pieces of the new one.
First I show you the result and my settings for that stabilizer and later I switched it off to see the differences

Same experience here. With the new Video Stabilize it hangs at 99% then VMS16P drops off my screen completely! A with j-v I find the legacy Stabilize has no problems but it's probably a nightmare clip for a stabilizer. With a moving camera and clouds it probably doesn't know what to use as reference points.

vkmast wrote on 7/11/2019, 6:57 AM

@j-v @EricLNZ which GPU if any was used? I experienced the same as you with no GPU on. With GPU on, Nvidia Gef.GTX1050 417.71 drivers, neither of the stabilizers crashed, whereas with Intel HD630 crashes with both.

@vkmast

👍💪Bingo, probably I forgot in VMS 16 ( I only use for testing for others) to switch my used GPU back to my favorite NVidia, it was indeed the Intell that caused it because after switching to my NVidia it worked complete without crashing.
Result is stil much worse than the legacy but it worked.

@vkmast Interesting. I only have Intel QSV, no fancy graphics processing. QSV was on. Switching it off made no difference. I have no problems with any of my clips and the new video stabilizer, but my clips don't push the extremes like Sargan's. Of interest I note that when you click the "Stabilize" button in the Video Stabilize FX window my preview window changes to "Good (Full)".

I just enabled GPU Acceleration it does show my nVidia card. Plus enabled 'Allow Legacy GPU Rendering' .. retested, same result.

Had an update from MAGIX Support ..They advise cause is a library file called ucrtbase.dll for the crash behaviour. This file is installed with C++ rediststributables, particularly with the 2017 redistributable.

They me asked to to repair file - no difference

I reinstalled all C++ rediststributables, tested - same result. Back with Support.

I saw on a scrotshot provided by you hat you use the GTX 560 of Nvidia
This tells the specs for VMS 16

to me your GPU looks way to low for that task.

OK ..... thanks ... worked fine with VMS14, but I'll turn it off until I get a better card, strange it allowed it to be selected.

EricLNZ wrote on 7/12/2019, 6:29 AM

From memory VMS14 uses the old (now legacy) Stabilize, which doesn't give the problem with your clips when used in VMS16?

j-v wrote on 7/12/2019, 6:58 AM

I did not mean with the comment the hardware acceleration, that can be switched on/of, but the rendering with help of the GPU.
That has to be choosed in the renderoptions.

OK .. I was looking at Preferences / general options where you can select to use GPU for hardware acceleration .. so OK to use there, just not in final render template as a choice.

Do you know of comparison / performance between the 2 versions ?

j-v wrote on 7/12/2019, 11:07 AM

I used them both.
Sometimes the old one performs better and sometimes the new one and v.v.
Most that I use is proDAD Mercalli v4 which I bought as a third party FX and it shows up in all my Vegas programs.
