Looks like Magix forgot to put a ON/OFF button :) And anyways, if you have 4k footage, that scrubb is awfull hence it does not access the proxy file :)
No, disabling So4 does not cause hover scrub preview fail on my system. But it only works on the thumbs in the Project Media window and not in the Explorer window.
Why do they do this? Like many others of my age (seventies) my control of the mouse is a little harder and I am continually drag content down to the time line only to find it is missing huge chunks because somehow i have Hover Scrubbed PLEASE VEGAS give us a switch?
@leadfootlambert - BTW, Great Tag Line 😄 .....OK... It’s a great function, unfortunately poorly delivered by the designers/engineers. Presently, I hate and loathe it. Is there a Tutorial indicating how I could use?
Thing for me is that ever since that feature is implemented, I have a hard time grabbing media to drop it on the timeline. When grabbing it just anywhere inside the rectangle like I used to, it won't stick to the mouse. You have to grab it within the tiny blue border that shows up around the media when you click it. That's really annoying. BTW is there a way to drag and drop from a HD folder directly to the timeline?
Thanks vkmast, but that doesn't here, that's the reason I asked.I thought maybe there was some special key command or something. I can't drag'ndrop from a windows folder, i get that black no parking sign thingy.
I suggest using the trimmer for this function, and once you have set in/out, then just hit the "A" key to load to the timeline.
The "secret" to having a good experience with thumbnail hover scrub is to use easily scrub-able footage on a large monitor. I am using cineform "least" quality proxies (they still look good) on a 40" UHD monitor. That works quite well.
Setting IN/OUT on the thumbnail is not a good idea, as a 5 second clip or 5 minute clip would look just the same on the thumbnail.

Really this is really annoying. To avoid this here I always go into View and choose List before putting the selected videos in the timeline.
Thanks for this useful work around but you are garbing a load of clips at once. What I am doing is having many clips to choice from, then picking individual ones, not always in time order, so it does get a little tedious doing it your way.
HOWEVER the truth of the matter is simple that we should not need to do any of this. Someone got the idea to add this and it may be some people find it useful, BUT for a couple of lines of code we could have a switch to turn the darn thing off and make the hundreds of user who hate it - Happy ! ! !

Me too, this is catches me on almost every edit, and it's infuriating.
I do not know at this time if this has been resolved, but this is, as other said, infuriating to use. Is a any way to disable this hover scrubbing in the media windows in vegas 19?
Also there is a problem with the thumbnail view, it generates the preview picture of the clip but does not store it, so when you have a lot of media and move the media window scroll down, or up, when you return to the previous position Vegas need to recreate the thumbnail making this process is so slow.
