Sony Vegas Pro 17 only audio missing video / offline media?

brandon-l wrote on 6/9/2020, 10:30 PM

Hello, today I was trying to import MP4 videos into sony vegas when I realised that only the audio was playing and the video preview was black and also the video in video track doesn't show anything. I went back to check other files that had working mp4 videos and found that they also had the same issue.

This image below is an old project file that had working mp4 videos that now has the error im trying to fix.

https://preview.redd.it/7tcoi66kow351.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=b001f42051fa044f5015758d25d6e407f1a4410c

I have also tried turning GPU acceleration to OFF and to my GPU which is a 2016, and created a NVIDIA control panel program settings directly to force it to run integrated graphics and high-performance and still have the error. And lastly, I have also deleted compoundplug.dll.

I'm not sure why this error has occured so randomly because 2 days ago it was working fine and I also uploaded the video to YouTube.

There is no such thing as Sony Vegas Pro 17, it is Magix Vegas Pro. That is why people question whether it is pirated because the hackers refer to it as Sony. Follow this link specifically section C and post mediainfo on the files that work and the ones that don't.

Ah, sorry my friend gave it to me thats why. I shall follow the link and see what happens. Also all of the files work, but it doesn't show video. It only plays the audio. I can watch the mp4 but when I import into Magix Vegas Pro it doesn't work properly.

Full resetting instructions (as something often seems to get overlooked).

Also, which build of VEGAS Pro 17? (See Help > About > General). The latest one available from here.

In this situation, I would create a support ticket and include your serial number and email address when creating it. The support staff will be able to help diagnose this problem for you.
