Back again. The editor has gone back to how it was in the original post. The timeline bar locking up, with the screen going opaque and an inability to render any video i do manage to semi-edit.

At the start of an edit it seems fine. As the edit gets more cuts, has more done to it, and any extra footage is added it slowly gets worse.

I tried putting the same footage into SV14 and it's all smooth, playback, fast forwarding through the footage and rendering.

Can you give any hints as to the nature of the problem? Is there a type of footage or Fx that seems to trigger it? This isn't common behavior with VP 18.

What's CPU and ram usage looking like? Enough space on the scratch disk?

You're on the latest drivers as recommended by VP 18 and build 373?

If other fixes failed, you reset the program and cleared the cache with control/shift on startup?

The footage is from a Debut screen recorder, and the editing i've been doing is just numerous cutting of the clip with 1-2sec merge/overlaps. The clips vary between 1-5 GB file size.

The CPU is fine when i'm using the editor and i have 32 GB of Ram, with over 250 GB of disk space.

On the driver update section, is says 'Not Found' for Online Version/Download/Change List for both the NVIDIA Graphics card (System Version 452.06) and Intel(R) UHD Graphics (System Version 27.20.100.8280).

I'm not sure how to clear the cache. I tried pressing control/shift on startup but nothing happened.

@JD77 the full resetting instructions here. Follow them closely.

I've tried the reset/cache clearance but it hasn't changed.

For the driver, just get it directly from NVIDIA. Perhaps Vegas is confusing laptop and desktop drivers. You are on a laptop? Try this then: https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/drivers/results/166052/

It is 456.71

The issue here is probably the method of screen capture. It's outputting files that don't work well in Vegas. There are guides to recommended settings for OBS but I don't know of others using your software. Maybe you can get some hints for settings here anyway: https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/faq-what-obs-studio-settings-work-well-with-vegas-pro--109925/
