Vegas Pro 19 Build 550 will not render (any format)

Garland-Labat wrote on 5/14/2022, 8:41 PM

Windows 11 (latest update)

Dell Precision 3650 Tower BTX Base, Intel Core i7-10700 (8 Core, 16M cache, base 2.9GHz, up to 4.8GHz) DDR4-2933

32GB (2x16GB) DDR4 UDIMM non-ECC Memory (Note: planning to upgrade memory to 64GB)

Nvidia Quadro P2200 5GB, 4 DP (Precision 3650T)

Fixed Hardware Configuration.

Vegas Pro 19 will open and edit as it should, however, I get NO render progress window (in any format) when I attempt to render. It just sits there endlessly with the little blue "working" circle showing. I would appreciate any thoughts on this issue.

So you click "Render As", and are able to select a codec, but when you go to hit "render" it does nothing? Or does the crash occur upon hitting "render as"? And this is a freeze, with an infinitely spinning circle icon, VEGAS does not close/crash itself at any point?

When I select "Render As" the options box drops down. After I select the codec and the format and hit "Render", that's when the blue circle appears and Vegas Pro 19 is frozen as the blue circles appears to keep spinning. There is "no" render progress box where you could "cancel". The only way to stop the frozen program is with the Task Manager.

Someone suggested Bias Update. I wouldn't know how to do that, but I'll keep it in mind when I eventually am able to talk with someone in the tech department.

@Garland-Labat

You probably won't be able to talk with someone as phone support has been suspended (as far as we know).

Try https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/support/interview/ (further advice here), if nobody chimes in here with a working suggestion.

I have the same exact issue right now 😤

Just updated yesterday from Vegas 14 with no issues and now on the newer model, I cant render anything. It just freezes.

Garland-Labat wrote on 5/30/2022, 4:55 PM

I just completed all driver updates, uninstalled and reinstalled Vegas Pro19, and now I cannot even launch it, even with "Run As Administrator". Vegas Pro 18 is working just fine on an ASUS laptop. No help from Dell. Tomorrow I will take the computer to Geek Squad (where I maintain an account) and see if they can help.

@Garland-Labat

Do you have a saved system image of Windows 10 for that hardware platform?

As you have a recent Dell computer, you should have a Dell app on the computer called Dell Update. If you run it, it will identify all the available updates for your computer including under Critical Updates a BIOS update if it is needed.

Or go on to your Dell account and, on the Support webpage, and using your computer's Service Tag number - or Express Service Tag number - whichever is requested, a list of the available updates - including BIOS - should be listed and then able to be selected and installed.

@Garland-Labat

- Which exact drivernumber you installed for your Nvidia Quatro?
- Which rendertemplate did you choose?

Also, a new VEGAS update just dropped today, so install that and get back to us if the issue persists.

Im still facing the same issue of not being able to render. Even after the update it still keeps crashing over and over.

fr0sty wrote on 6/1/2022, 12:18 AM

Have you tried using the GPU driver update utility in the VEGAS help menu? See if it recommends a driver, if so, download and install that driver. even if you recently updated your driver, do it anyway, as that utility will always show the driver that has been tested to work the best with VEGAS.

Yes, sadly still no luck

I took this computer to the Geek Squad and they had it for several days. The Vegas Pro 19 latest update was installed, Geek Squad did ALL available driver updates, still the same problem. I'm going to uninstall VP 19 and install it on another Windows 11 machine on which VP 18 is running beautifully. I will report my findings within a week or so. Thanks for all the suggestions.

Garland-Labat wrote on 6/14/2022, 7:22 PM

UPDATE on this problem. I took the computer to Geek Squad (where I maintain an account) and they did every available update plus (they said) some fine tuning. My first test was to try uploading video footage to a studio's server (which would not work before). This time it uploaded normally. This gave me hope, so I went to VP19 and imported some MTS footage (AVCHD from Sony FS5Mii). No luck, it still would not render. So I uninstalled VP19 and reinstalled it on a ASUS laptop (also running Windows 11) and VP19 worked perfectly on that computer. I then tried to see if the Dell would render using Pinnacle Studio 25, and it rendered perfectly. So the only conclusion I can draw is that the problem is in the Dell 3050 Precision Workstation. That was not a cheap machine, and it will not work for the very purpose for which I purchased it. I'm guessing that my only path forward now is if Dell will step in and resolve the problem. Thanks to everyone for the help and suggestions.

@Garland-Labat: One possible suspect component in your Precision workstation is the NVIDIA Quadro P2200 with 5 GB VRAM. VEGAS may have issues using Quadros out of the box - depending on your Settings / workflow - though it is possible to configure and/or work around it. We are also aware of at least one issue introduced recently which may affect performance on these GFUs; though we hope to have it fixed in a patch update very soon.

In the meantime, can you post the contents of the following files to help identify and possibly fix the problems:

1. C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Local\VEGAS Pro\19.0\gpu_video_x64.log (replace "<USERNAME>" with name of your Windows User). The lines we are interested in should be the ones which follow:

"Attempting to create CL interop context on device", such as these:

INFO 2022-06-13 14:25:58 Attempting to create CL interop context on device 'NVIDIA RTX A4000'
INFO 2022-06-13 14:25:58 ... Failed to create CL interop: returned context was NULL, and status was -1000

2. Screen shot of your Project Settings dialog (it should show Project Resolution, Pixel format etc).

3. Screen shot of your Render As dialog with the format/template selected (before you hit the Render button). If you are using a Custom template, please include screen shot of the "Custom Settings" dialog also.

4. Screen shots of the "Video" and "File I/O" tabs from the Options -> Preferences dialog.

OK, here's information that I hope will be useful info for all who attempted to help with this problem. Working with Dell Warranty Support, we tried removing the Quadro P2200 graphics card to see if Vegas Pro 19 would render using just the CPU and it would not. So Dell Warranty Support concluded the problem was with Windows 11 (on a Precision Workstation!). We took the computer back to Windows 10 Pro and everything works perfectly. I don't understand the difference between Windows 11 on my ASUS laptop and Windows 11 on the Precision Workstation, but they obviously did. Thanks to all for your help.
