Vegas Pro 20 / HDMI / ATOMOS NINJA

Hi guys, I'm just wondering if you can add HDMI support (if it's not already there and I've missed something) for the monitoring of Vegas AV output on a laptop for example so I can use my Atomos Ninja as a Monitor during editing (and even to record video directly from the Vegas timeline onto its SSD) when I'm in a hotel room working somewhere for example??

That would be super-cool! If it's already possible could you tell me how to get that to work??

Thank you!

Darren Powell

It's already there... select your 2nd hdmi port on the Preview Devices tab and then whenever you click on the preview icon above the preview screen, output will go to the hdmi jack you selected earlier and you'll see it on your Ninja... assuming you plugged it into that port and turned it on. You might have to go to Windows Display setting's and tell it to extend the display rather than duplicate it. You can then use the controls on the Ninja to record the same way as when it's plugged into your camera's hdmi.

The HDMI connector is part of the installed video card, not a separate device, so I would believe it can only be accessed as a Video Card option. I think the best option is to set up the Ninja as a second screen. I doubt it can be treated as an HDMI device thru your current HDMI connector.

Ahh, yes, got that working now, thanks very much for your help Howard, greatly appreciated! :-)

I've tagged the actual comment with the suggestion from @DMT3 as solution instead of the OP's own comment.

Yes indeed DMT3, that's exactly the solution,

Howard's comment could have been tagged as well, but only one tag is allowed.
