Apologies for the delay getting back here - family . . . . 🙂

@redpaw

what if you create a project in v14, make sure the opacity works, and then open that project in v15?

I liked your thinking. Here's the results of that:

What "appears" as a movable handle in VP15, but it isn't, it's LOCKED. Also, if you look closely, the Blue Line it should sit on is missing. What's strange is that the FADE OFFSET works!?

@redpaw

oh ya, that's what i meant... pointy finger. is it changing at all... (if the even is locked it wont even change the, so that would be some kind of indication what might be wrong...)

No pointing Finger.

Do you use proxies? I also see that media is offline, maybe that is causing it.

Another thing you could try is play around with view event headers (ctrl shift M)

I do not have a blue line, when selecting the event, the event is boxed in yellow, and when pulling down the opacity, the opacity is a white line going down.

And I am sure you know this, but make sure the envelope edit tool is NOT selected and select normal edit tool.

@Former user Asked: "Would there be any benefit in uploading a snippet of the video clip for other users to test, or is it all and every still/video clips?"

Eh? Magix? I can't attach a Vegas File?

@bitman

Do you use proxies? I also see that media is offline, maybe that is causing it.

Not in these Tests. It is showing Offline 'cos I was taking a Screen Grab! 😅

Nope, not that either.

I do not have a blue line, when selecting the event, the event is boxed in yellow, and when pulling down the opacity, the opacity is a white line going down.

I'm sure you don't. But I was was asked to create a project in VP14 and import it into VP15. So, in VP14 it is BLUE, which is where I created and imported into VP15, as asked:

And I am sure you know this, but make sure the envelope edit tool is NOT selected and select normal edit tool.

Oh yes!!! - It's been like this for ever:

Just tried a VEGAS Default Windows Layout and that isn't making difference either.

it looks to me like there's something messed up... properly... not just some setting on/off
if i were you, i'd reinstall vegas 15 and see if that 'fixes' it.

Sure, if you read back up this thread, including your own feedback, I uninstalled, rebooted, reinstalled, rebooted and started over. This is a very real and consistent issue which can’t be reproduced in VP14.

Former user wrote on 4/22/2018, 5:33 AM

@Grazie To eliminate the possibility of it being a corrupted install, can you install VP15 on a different machine and then test your project on VP15? I’m sure you’ve already tried loading (double clicking the program icon is required) the program while holding down shift+ctrl.

He mentioned "Factory Reset" in one of his comments on April 19 "if you read back". I'm sure he "placed a checkmark" as well.

@vkmast : And yes he did. And he did it again too 😉 - Still no success.

Yes.

Which version of .NET Framework do you use under Win7? It should be at least 4.6.2. Here I use the Version 4.7.1, which seems to run smoother.

NickHope wrote on 4/22/2018, 7:16 AM

Try a clean uninstall. You'll need to change the numbers from 14 to 15. See this comment for instructions: https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/opening-avi-files--106440/?page=2#ca659227

Not sure what you mean by Grazie placing a checkmark? As far as reading back I do my best to read all of the comments in a thread, and not repeat suggestions, but in a long thread it can sometimes happen. I’m sure the original poster will make allowances when they are after all looking for a resolution to their issue, and probably less concerened with nit picking. If my suggestion of shift+ctrl etc is the same as a factory reset fair enough, I understood that procedure to mean resetting and clearing cache etc, not a factory reset, I was already aware of him mentioning the factory reset.

Well it sounds like you've tried everything else. This gives it the best chance of clearing out all remnants of the previous installation. Beyond that you're looking at reinstalling Windows, which would be far more drastic. We're only trying to help, Grazie. You have a bizarre problem which I've never read about before.

No answer, but your not alone! https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/opacity-adjustment--57751/

This was in 2007, so not necessarily a VP14 issue.

@nick .. This individual @TucsonGuy77 also had the same problem but unfortunately no resolution.

sorry, brain not working properly... i thought you said you only did a factory reset. my bad.

i would second some plugin / extension conflict then. from the menu bar on your screenshot looks like you have a good few of them. maybe start from uninstalling some more exotic ones?
* btw - what's the affinity photo plugin (or is it just the icon that you're using for something else)?

It’s a live Open In Graphics Editor for Affinity.

So, the first link references a post by Nick in November 2016?  No doubt a person of Grazies experience would miss the check mark, really!

The second link references a post by Grazie in May 2015?

Excuse me if I don’t  forensically check all of the OP's and Nick's old posts before commenting.

Weird, pedantic, nit picking, or maybe i’ve got a fan ... NOT.

vkmast wrote on 4/22/2018, 10:04 AM

SUCCESS! 😀

Regression tested all the Builds I had and gradually climbed back UP to B321, I now have Event Opacity Levels back in order:

I combined this testing with finally an accumulative addition of my VST Folder re-scans, one at a time. So far so good.
