VP21 build 315 renders are consistently out of sync

Marc-Gold wrote on 7/20/2024, 9:02 PM

Trying repeatedly to render a simple one camera video. The audio and video are perfectly in sync on the timeline, but all renders wind up with out of sync audio. The video is consistently almost .25 sec ahead of the audio. Filming is 1080 60p. Project specs are the same. Rendering codec is Magix AVC/AAC MP4 internet HD 1080p 59.94fps.

Would someone please show me the link to an earlier build of VP 21pro. I'm subscribed to VP 365. Something before build 300 please, or a fix to the sync problem if there is one. I have a video to deliver this week and appreciate the help. Many thanks in advance.

Are you on an AMD GPU?

I'd try build 208 or enabling legacy AVC in 315 may help. Note that 208 can't open projects made in 300+.

Custom PC (2022) Intel i5-13600K with UHD 770 iGPU with latest driver, MSI z690 Tomahawk motherboard, 64GB Corsair DDR5 5200 ram, NVIDIA 2080 Super (8GB) with latest studio driver, 2TB Hynix P41 SSD and 2TB Samsung 980 Pro cache drive, Windows 11 Pro 64 bit

Dell XPS 15 laptop (2017) 32GB ram, NVIDIA 1050 (4GB) with latest studio driver, Intel i7-7700HQ with Intel 630 iGPU (latest available driver), dual internal SSD (1TB; 1TB), Windows 10 64 bit

Thanks for your help. I installed VP21 build 208 and re-rendered my video once again with perfect results. Does anyone know if this (sync) is a known issue in build 315, and if it's being addressed?

There are many media decoding issues with 315 but please provide the info John requests (and even better a short sample of the problem footage) so others can test it and we can ask for this type of media to be made compatible going forward.

This is the error message that I get when I try to upload a small video file. Don't know how to get this file for you.

jetdv wrote on 7/22/2024, 10:14 AM

@Marc-Gold It tells you the supported formats!

MP4, MOV, WMV, AVI, MPG, FLV, MTS

You're trying to upload an MXF file which is not on that list.

If you want it displayed as video on this site, you'll need to use one of the supported formats. If you're trying to share the MXF file for others to look at, you need to upload it to a third party site (like google drive, drop box, a personal website, etc...) and provide a link to download that file. It sounds like you need the latter - upload it to a website and then provide the link to the file here.

Hi Marc, I think you are having some issues with the forum here.

For MediaInfo you can just copy and paste in the text it gives you without replying to another comment.

For the MXF file please share a link to it on a hosting service like Google Drive or Dropbox or Box, etc. If you have difficulty doing this please message me and I can help.

Hi all, Marc was kind enough to upload files for testing and I was able to replicate a sync issue with MagixAVC (Mainconcept).

Here's a file you can download for testing.

Using my laptop I just put it on the timeline and rendered to a MagixAVC template (NVENC then Mainconcept). I brought them back onto the timeline and the Mainconcept one's audio waveform is clearly not aligned.

Mainconcept HEVC and AVC match each other but not the other renders.

HEVC QSV matches the original but not HEVC Mainconcept.

Do others see this?

Do you see it with VCE as well?

@RogerS I downloaded the clip. How can you tell if there is a rendered sync issue?

Rendering with HEVC Mainconcept "looks" the same as with VCE.

MXF / PCM / AES causes known sync issues with some Vegas versions and decoders.

Note that the mode is frame based, adopting the video properties, but it does not appear to be interleaved.

The bug has popped up in various forms for years. I tested it about a decade ago (VP14) when I was still working.

Rewrapping to MP4 in Shutter Encoder should solve this straight away.

@Reyfox I can tell reimporting the clips into VEGAS that the audio is not aligned between Mainconcept and NVENC and the original by playing them back at the same time and looking at the waveform.
I can't tell what the sync should be (which one is right) given the nature of the clip and asked the OP for a file where we could have a clear view of someone speaking or singing.

Thanks for the perspective, Mark-y and workaround. I'd like VP 21.315/ VP 22 with Mxcompound to be able to handle this directly so hopefully we can help get to the bottom of the issue.

I've found that if I render just a minute or two of a video clip, that short, rendered clip will show perfect sync, but if I render the whole clip (1 hour long) the part that showed good sync in the short, rendered clip will be out of sync. It seems like the length of the clip being rendered has something to do with the sync issue. Would you like me to put the whole hour-long clip in your dropbox?

RogerS wrote on 7/23/2024, 10:35 AM

If that's the best clip to test (some parts go out of sync and others don't), yes, please put it in the Dropbox and I'll make it available to everyone here.

Can you share a screenshot of your render template settings so I can follow it exactly?
