When I try to launch Effects, it just says, An Error Occured

Hi! I purchased VEGAS Edit 365 as an up-front product a while ago. I've just decided to try the free trial of VEGAS Effects, and I'm disappointed that I did. I got it installed, but any time I select a video clip (...) and select EDIT SELECTED EVENT IN VEGAS EFFECTS, it spins for a while and then pops up with an error message that says, "An Error Occured during the current operation. The reason for the error could not be determined." and that's the end.

So far I've tried uninstalling all Vegas products and reinstalling them. Same result.

I'm running a PC and I've never had any trouble with VEGAS in the many years I've used it.

I either need instructions on how to cancel my free trial or how to fix this issue. It's been a huge waste of my Saturday.

Thank you,

After 30 days the free trials from the vegascreativesoftware.com webpage just expire if you do not purchase the full license or subscribe.

And a quote from this comment (based on an earlier comment in that thread): "--- it should be clearly stated that you can only trial VEGAS Pro, even if you download the VEGAS Post trial." So even though you can download VEGAS Effects you probably may not be able to try that or any other Post add-ons.
