Sneak Peak of VEGAS Pro 18

Artificial intelligence driven tools like colorization

An even more improved Color Grading panel for more flexibility

More intuitive Motion Tracking workflow

And much more

"Artificial intelligence driven tools like colorization"

What else might it be able to do if it can auto colorize black and white photos/video?

I hope a green screen sort of effect where it can intelligently cut out a human from the background and background becomes greenscreen

I think it may be too late for feature requests in VP 18 in this thread. Please start a new thread for future version feature requests.

@Former user

There are a number of AI related tasks that can be done... please note that these won't necessarily appear in VP18, these are just possibilities of what can be done:

AI Upscaling

AI Morphing/Psychedelic Effects

Colorizing

Style Transferring (emulating artistic paint or drawing styles from video sources)

Framerate up/downscaling

Noise reduction/image enhancement

Just to name a few possibilities. No telling what will make it into 18, but at least they're building the foundation that future AI related tasks can be built upon. No telling where they can take it from here.

Here's some research that Nvidia has done on how to apply it to slow motion:

Imagine once they start building it into our cameras to enhance the dynamic range and ISO sensitivity beyond what the sensor is capable of...

@Yelandkeil you need to ask MAGIX. We are peer users only and not working for MAGIX or Vegas Creative.

Thanks @vkmast for this.

There is something I never really got about this offer though: if I get a new licence for Vegas 17 now, will I end up getting Vegas 18 AND Vegas 17, on different computers lets say? Each one with two activation?

Or will it merely be a "free upgrade" to v18 and v17 would be gone then?

vkmast wrote on 7/2/2020, 4:28 AM

@adimatis my understanding is that one gets "each one with two [simultaneous] activations". VP 18 does not overwrite a previous version. As you may know "upgrade" refers to pricing and is a separate installation. (Ref. section 9 here.)

Yeap, thanks @vkmast

Noise reduction would be a massive plus as I was actually thinking of switching over to Davinci Studio but if NR is included with this update I’ll stick with Vegas, Premiere and Magic Bullet

When I did it last year with v16, a new v16 license appeared in my account right after the purchase which was good for activation on 2 additional machines plus the 2 that I was already running. v17 wasn't actually released at the time last years offer went on sale and that license came via an email a number of weeks later. So at the moment I have 4 machines licensed to run v16, two of which are also licensed to run v17. I imagine I'll do it again, if only because I've grown really fond of v17 since the last build came out.

As Steam is a separate retailer, I would not count on it unless the offer to buy VP17 on Steam's website specifically states that they are making the same 'buy VP17 and then get VP18' offer. If that were the case, then I would expect that it would be Steam who would be providing VP18. However, Steam's current VP17 offer does not include a 'and get VP18' provision.

Of course, to find out for sure, ask Steam directly.

Re Steam, see the MAGIX comments on the earlier similar 15+16 offer here https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/upgrade-offer-movie-studio-15-vegas-pro-16--112644/

Best regards, MAGIX Software GmbH" and "As Steam versions are not registered with serial numbers under your MAGIX account, it's unfortunately not possible to take advantage of upgrade promotions directly on our website.")

Hi,

the additional V18 would be the normal Pro version, not Edit or any other "truncated" version but the "real" Pro 18 I could by later regularly?

@max8

Go to the Magix.com site, Vegas, and click on the various versions to see for yourself.

Vegas Pro 18 Edit, Vegas Movie Studio 16 Platinum, Magix Video Pro X16, Magix Movie Studio Platinum 2024, Xara Designer Pro X19, Samplitude Pro X8 Suite, Music Maker 2025 Premium, SF Audio Cleaning Lab 4, Sound Forge Pro 16 and more.

OK, here is what I would like to see: To be able to drop an effect on a track that would open a text panel, this would be converted to speech, giving Male, Female, American, English, and other accents. With the ability to alter the speed of the voice.

There are some computer generated voices out there that are so good, most people would find it hard to pick that they are not human.

This would really be a great effect to have, if making a documentary style video, or where the author does not have the right voice. The technology is out there just needs to be included as an effect.

I also had just upgraded to Vegas Pro 17 just 3 weeks ago. I was wondering if I'm still able to get Pro 18 in August without having to pay for what I just got done paying for it again.

Dexcon wrote on 7/5/2020, 8:57 AM

@ChasMc  ... I'll give the same response as I did in another recent thread re much the same question:

I doubt it given that the offer commenced only a few days ago, and there doesn't seem to be a rider which says it also applies to purchases since [date]. But you could always contact MAGIX Sales and ask them so as to get an official answer.

Generally, you could only expect the 'buy 17 and get 18' offer if it was specifically offered at the time you bought.

It is good to see to see an offer but, without knowing what you get and pay for, how can you really come to the decision to place an order? Partial information and withholding details on new features is not something I like.
