The above link (previous page) illustrates why you can't judge an NLE by a single screen shot.

+1. Here's hoping for some "sensible" reviews of the software in the coming weeks; rather than the knee-jerk cynicism we have seen in the past from some forum members.

ram17 wrote on 8/25/2018, 6:17 PM

Well at least we now know that Vegas Developers focuses now "internally" on the software not "cosmetically" anymore (so stop mocking the devs for the ui).

Hoping Vegas fix that fonts problem where some of the fonts i have are not recognized.

Nothing "cooked" or "suspicious" about that screenshots guys, i just grab it at our software dealer here in the Philippines. You can check it if you want in their Facebook. I just want to share it with you guys but i guess i'm not welcome here maybe.

Maybe ordering is related to a regions date. For example it's the 26th here, but in some places it's still the 25th, and so they can't order it yet.

A possibility maybe. I always believed in you ram17! 😀

OK. Sorry. Been seeing too many pirates here lately. Paranoia.

Upgrade seems to be available here (UAE).

https://www.vegascreativesoftware.com/us/newsletter/upgrade-vegas-pro/

However, I am a little confused with the pricing. $345 for 16 Suite - I only purchased 15 Suite in May this year... A little bemused. I have a feeling that the existing customer base has not been properly added though, as this did not change after logging in etc.

@ram17 Of course your welcome, I was just suspicious on the timing of you joining yesterday just before the release of 16 with a screenshot without quoting a genuine source (which you correctly quoted in a later post).

Anyways welcome.

Thanks..Been a Vegas user since version 10, I decided to join this community to participate with other users (tired of just reading posts in a corner 😁) & also want to give back help to other users here. Coz whenever I have to troubleshoot Vegas I just hit the search button here & voila! problem solved (i guess my problems are not unique, that's why), especially when your deadlines hit you, this forum save my azz many times.

It seems you have different extras with the pro version versus the suite version: for example Boris FX Continuum Lights Unit for the Vegas pro 16, and Boris FX Sapphire Lighting Unit for the suite.

Anyone has any preferences? Or do you get both if you go for the suite...

Yes, I'm relatively new to the forum too and I'm working hard to get that M on my green hexagon. It looks like Kinvermark is almost there. Have used Vegas since Version 9 and I am still learning a new trick or tip every single day, and with all the new features, there is always something new to learn too.

vkmast wrote on 8/26/2018, 8:20 AM

@karma17 FYI: If a hexagon is green, it means the user is currently online. A hexagon with an M refers to a (volunteer) user moderator who is not a Magix employee, though (s)elected by Magix.

I took a look at the storyboard mode, seems very blah to me

I used Newtek's SpeedEdit for many years which had the timeline and storyboard feature over a decade ago. If you are going to have a storyboard layout you really need to be able to drag transitions and FXs into the storyboard.

Take a look at how SpeedEdit worked

The amount of green fill-in on the hexagon 'pie chart' is based on the number of comments a user has posted.. don't know the scale though. As vkmast stated, the 'M' inside a green hexagon indeed indicates "Forum Moderator'.

@Richvideo

Did you download the trial, or are you extrapolating from the marketing page?

Kinvermark wrote on 8/26/2018, 11:28 AM

My view of how a "storyboard" should function is that it should be kept clean and simple to facilitate roughing out your project and a easy to see overview. Too many elements (like transitions) would get in the way. We already have four places to add effects, so another (IMO) is not necessary - just use the timeline.

Newteks's SpeedEdit was billed as the worlds fastest NLE when it came out and that was due its tight integration of Storyboard and Timeline editing, the SB was far from cluttered looking. Many people still feel that nothing else is faster for putting together a bread and butter cut than it. They also had animated previews of the video clips when you rolled over them in the file bin which was a helpful feature. I always felt that if you could take the best of SpeedEdit (Its storyboard) and combine it with Vegas it would be the best and easiest to use NLE out there.

Looks cool. From the marketing page, Vegas' implementation appears similar, and will have hover scrub for animated previews. No doubt, if it is a success more elaborations can be added later.
