New Blue Titler Activation?

Jason King wrote on 4/18/2014, 12:38 AM
So I upgraded to Vegas Pro 13 from 12 and in my confirmation email I have serials for:
Vegas Pro 13 Upgrade (Download)
DVD Architect Pro 6 (Download)
iZotope Nectar Elements
NewBlue PrimeTime Lower 3rds (Download)
I've installed the PrimeTime Lower 3rds but don't seem to see it anywhere and if I select the New Blue Titler Pro it is running as a trial, I don't seem to have a serial for this, should I? Anyone else run into issues installing these two programs? The serial for the lower 3rds doesn't work in the titler, not that I would expect it to.

I should mention that I just last week finished installing a new hard drive in my editing computer along with a fresh install of Vegas Pro 12 so my system is about as clean as you can possibly get.

The Lower 3rds packages require Titler Pro 2 or Titler Pro 3.

Titler Pro 1 was bundled with Vegas Pro 11 and 12 but not with Vegas Pro 13 so you will get a watermark in Vegas Pro 13.

There is a special offer to get Titler Pro 3 for only $99.

Cornico, a point to consider indeed. Interestingly, the NBFX MSPS bundle for VMSPS 10 (32-bit) still works without a watermark in MSP 13 (32-bit).

It's the way of doing business in the new world economy. We used to pride ourselves on how much we could deliver for the buck. Now, it's how little we can get by with to maximize returns. Get used to it because I don't think it's going to change anytime soon.

... so if we upgrade to Vegas 13 partly because of the most kind offer to get NewBlue Essentials VI - then we may be forced to buy the NewBlue Essentials VI when we upgrade to Vegas 14 to avoid surprising watermarks popping up in old projects ... ??

I was seconds from pressing "Buy upgrade" as usual when a new Vegas version is available - then I saw this post - but please enlighten me as to where it is written that the free NB Titler was only licensed to work with 11 and 12 - and if the offered NB Essentials VI license may also be limited to Vegas 13 only ??

And what about the e-mails "Bonus Offer* Upgrade to NewBlue Pro Titler 3 for only $99.95 — a $299.95 value!"
Will it also include a little surprise in a year when Vegas 14 is coming up ??

Do not get me wrong, please - I own and enjoy several of NewBlues really great products - but the "doing business in the new world economy" is just not quite understandable for an old fashioned gentleman.

Titler Pro 1 was bundled with Vegas Pro 11 and 12 but not with Vegas Pro 13 so you will get a watermark in Vegas Pro 13.

Well, the Vegas 13 product page is wrong then. It does list Titler Pro 1.0.

Good catch, Norman.

Titler Pro 1 should work in VP13. Do you have the latest build? Maybe NB has updated it very recently just for the VP13 release? I upgraded to Titler 2 and now 3 so haven't experienced this problem.

If memory serves me correctly bundled 3rd party plugins with ACID Pro continued to work in later releases - they even worked in other DAWS. We'll never know if this would have continued to be the case because Sony stopped developing AP leaving many of us who had invested over the years in this so-called "pro" DAW high and dry without the courtesy of an explanation. Thank goodness for Reaper! (Always pleased to have the opportunity for an ACID Pro rant every now and again.)

Yes, Titler Pro 1 should:). It works with a watermark as earlier said. I have the latest build. I believe we were talking about the 11 and 12 bundled version here.

Okay, so is this how things are working, if I understand correctly? Vegas 13 no longer has the NewBlue Titler included for free and to use the free bottom thirds we have to now buy the NewBlue Titler software? Hmm.

jetdv wrote on 4/18/2014, 1:25 PM
The Titler Pro 3 upgrade will be the full upgrade that will work with future versions of Vegas and have a full retail serial number meaning it will also work in any other supported NLEs you have installed.

You also need Titler Pro 2 or Titler Pro 3 to use the Lower 3rds packages anyway. The Lower 3rds packages won't work with Titler Pro 1.

To use Titler Pro 1 in Vegas Pro 13, you will need to activate with a retail serial number as it was only bundled with Vegas Pro 11 and 12.

There are no free lower thirds available.

If you purchase Titler 3, they also give you a lower thirds package with the Titler 3 purchase.

We still need to know if the bundled NB VE VI will be limited to v 13, as ritsmer asked.
NormanPCN wrote on 4/18/2014, 1:52 PM
Yes, jetdv needs to clarify that for us. NewBlue can have whatever licensing restrictions they want, but we the users need to know this.

The Titler Pro 1.0 thing is news to me, and bad news for some. At least they are offering an upgrade price in the Vegas 13 upgrade the same as V2 customers would get.
jetdv wrote on 4/18/2014, 2:53 PM
As of today, the VE6 bundle will be limited to Vegas Pro 13. If Sony decides to bundle it with a future version, then it will be updated to work with that future version as well. If you already have the retail VE6, it will continue to work in all versions.

Take a look at the various videos here:

There are many good reasons to upgrade to Titler Pro 3 and it is a great bargain with Titler Pro 3 plus the styles package for only $99.95.

The last to images on that page are videos which emphsize new features found in Titler Pro 3.
Jason King wrote on 4/18/2014, 3:21 PM
Well, when I purchased the upgrade to Vegas 13, I was given a free copy of the bottom thirds. Seems strange I have to pay for something else to use my free product with no indication of such.

jetdv wrote on 4/18/2014, 3:47 PM
Jason, the free Lower 3rds package is only available if you also purchase Titler Pro 3. Did you purchase Titler Pro 3? If not, you should not have received a Lower 3rds package.
Jason King wrote on 4/18/2014, 3:56 PM
Okay, well, talking to tech support on the chat, it seems I should not have got the lower thirds as a free download, but for some reason, I did. Must have been some sort of error with the web page since I don't own, and don't plan to own, the NewBlue Titler beyond the free version included with Vegas 12. I never used it since my titling needs are very simple.

Seems like bait and switch to me. If I am told I am being given a plugin then that's what I expect.

Name a prior example of Vegas or any other Sony/Sonic Foundry software where this has occurred. I got Magic Bullet MovieLooks back with version 7 ( I think). It worked with every 32 bit version of Vegas that came after. Same with Izotope audio plugins. Same with everything that Sony or Sonic Foundry has given away with their software. I still use many of these plugins to this day.

Now this! Come on....

To be honest the Essentials 6 was really the only compelling reason to buy the upgrade but if essentials is limited to only working in Vegas 13 then that changes things.
NormanPCN wrote on 4/18/2014, 4:46 PM
Izotope and Red Giant are free to do what they want with their bundle license to Sony. Sony is paying something for each of the bundled items and is only willing to pay a certain amount.

NewBlue may be unwilling to allow a license that extends beyond the bundled Vegas version. Another possibility is their price for such a license was beyond what Sony was willing to pay.
tim-evans wrote on 4/18/2014, 5:06 PM
I can't agree with this. The Izotope and Red Giant deals may have been limited to just one version of Vegas for all I know .... who seriously reads the small print of the licensing agreement.

What those companies didn't do was inhibit their software from working.

Also all appearances are given that we are being provided the official retail version of Titler I and Essentials VI.

Face it... has this topic come up before until now that Titler I has been inhibited from working with Vegas 13?

I believe users are under the impression that they are getting the "official"version of Essentials VI, not software that is limited to Vegas 13. Why would they believe otherwise?

Obviously no one was aware of the fact and that is why it is bait and switch.
opp69 wrote on 4/19/2014, 4:20 AM
In the "Vegas Pro 13 Product Comparisons", NB Titler Pro 1 is included...

So Sony has to make it works... if not, this is a misleading advertising.
redpaw wrote on 4/19/2014, 4:38 AM
So it's all misleading really, cause if they state "Includes Video Essentials VI plug-in collection from NewBlueFX: US $129 value" - then it suggests it's EXACT same version as the one you would purchase from NewBlue page (the same price), meaning no possible limitations to the current vegas version!
vkmast wrote on 4/19/2014, 4:58 AM
SCS certainly needs to inform that "the bundled NewBlues are licensed to work without a watermark with this version only".
Titler Pro 1 needed probably to be included in v 12, because they did not get it quite right by the time v 11 was upgraded. It had at least 5 updates during v 12.
