New Blue Titler Activation?

To reiterate, Vegas users are paying out $150 this month for the VP 13 upgrade so buying the TP 3 upgrade may need to wait until next months pay cheque or the one after that. Having a more flexible upgrade arrangement might pay dividends for NB in the future.

@ Spectralis,

I wish I could go ahead and upgrade to Vegas Pro 13 now and then do the Titler Pro 3 thing next month instead of at the same time. But since they set it all up this way I will reluctantly go ahead and get both.

I played around with TP1 a little bit and then left it alone. I have not had it installed for a long time. It was good but not good enough for my needs.

The sad part is now I can not work on an existing project from Vegas 12 in 13 without buying the TP upgrade. Just glad I didn't uninstall 12 :). Finally took off 8, 9,10, and 11.

I'm considering upgrading to Vegas Pro 13 from Vegas Pro 12 and I'm also disappointed by NetBlueFX's decision to not support TP1 with Vegas 13. Although I think the upgrade price for TP3 is very reasonable, especially with the lower thirds, at the moment I don't need any more titling features that what TP1 offers.

However, I may have wanted to upgrade at a later time but now I'm not feeling very good about NewBlueFX, at least not their marketing and support strategy. I will either stay with Vegas Pro 12 or upgrade to 13 and do without TP.

I ask NewBlueFX to reconsider your TP policy for Vegas Pro 13 and restore the confidence of your existing customer base. Thank you.

DavidPJ says, "...at the moment I don't need any more titling features that what TP1 offers."

Even though you do not need anymore features, in spite of the problems I have with credit roll (end credits) the interface on TP3 is much better than TP1.

So with the discount upgrade price and the bonus lower thirds, it may very well be an excellent time for you to upgrade.

You might find that you need more features after all once you start using them.

Whoa... What? You mean the edit version, I hope? I payed $250 and have Vegas 12.

I already purchased Vegas Pro 13, how do I get the $99.95 upgrade?
jetdv wrote on 4/28/2014, 12:09 PM
sergiob, contact Sony Customer Service and they can assist you with that.

David, and everyone else, the topic of Titler Pro 1 is being discussed...

Keeping fingers crossed as well, Cornico.

We understand your frustration. Not surprisingly, there are a lot of people like you who love Titler and are upset. And so, we have an offer to continue with Titler 1 that should make you happy.

But in exchange, I would like to say something to put some perspective on this.

First, I hope we made good. We put together an opportunity to get Titler Pro 3.0, which comes with dramatic improvements in power and ease of use over Titler 1, for $99. This is a $299 product that will not be discounted. And, we are including OnAir lower thirds, a $59 value.Indeed, we are getting an enthusiastic response to the promotion through the Sony store.

Please understand that when you bought Vegas Pro 12, a tiny portion of your $ went to Titler. Yet, products require support long after they were purchased, support in the form of new updates for changes in OS, devices, support in the form of assisting users with compatibility issues, and the list goes on. Somebody has to bear the cost.

But I have read some cynical comments on forums and message lists, and I can understand where it comes from, so I would like to make one thing very clear:

Once you buy a product from NewBlue, you get lifetime support. For example, people who bought ArtEffects for Vegas in 2006, which was a 32 bit DirectX plugin that only ran on Vegas, can now use the same license for the 64 bit OpenFX on Vegas 13. Oh, and they can use that same license on Premiere, After Effects, Avid, and more.

Just like Sony, we are a company in business. I wish people knew how hard the Sony team works - they are essentially a small company in Madison Wisconsin who happen to have corporate parents. I hear people griping about the $125 upgrade. I would suggest they view it as a daily cost of 30 cents so Sony can continue to work hard to support them and improve their workhorse editing tool.

I have a hard time debating whether 30 cents a day is worth it, its an incredible deal in my book.

Likewise, an investment of $99 for Titler Pro 3 will be something like 13 cents a day for two years, and it will never expire. We hope enough people will see the value so we can continue to be empowered to create products and support our customers. (I chose two years, btw, because it's been two years since we introduced Titler 2.)

But, if that upgrade to 3 doesn't cut it for some of you, that's okay. We really do want you happy. So, how about this... we've set it up so you can buy Titler 1 for only $19.95. That's no longer bundle software. It's the full multi-platform, no expiration, real deal. So, if you do not have the budget for the Titler 3 upgrade or it may simply not have value to you. we sincerely want to make you happy.

Edward has links and coupons for getting a license for the full Titler 1 product for $19.95, so please contact him directly, and he will take care of you.

Then you can choose whether you want to spend 13 cents a day for the enhanced power and workflow of Titler 3 or 3 cents a day for the trusted familiarity of Titler 1.

Please note that both offers are limited time. If you want either, you have just the duration of the Sony promotion.

Thank you for your patience and support,

Todor Fay

This is a bit ambiguous. What is the prerequisite for getting Titler Pro 3.0 for $99? I have Vegas 12 and 13. Just wondering because I only see the $299 price and nothing about a discount.

Todor:

First, thanks for your interaction and the clarification given to Vegas users on this forum. I am one who has faithfully upgraded every version of Vegas since V.3. NB titler I in its initial form was a challenge (and I might add, frustration) for many Vegas users. That, along with virtually no direct communication from Sony has led to a lot of uncertainty in the past few years.

I have appreciated Ed's efforts to solve problems and address issues, but then he is limited by the actual product performance, regardless of what he tries to communicate.

I am elated to see some "authoritative" input from you and Sony on this forum. Despite misgivings I decided to upgrade to v. 3 of Titler. I am impressed, but realize you came darn close to losing a customer.

It's amazing what a little communication can do to make even the most cynical people willing to give some slack to solve problems and issues.

Keep up the communication and I'll hang with you.

And, BTW I would recommend to anyone who can stretch to afford it to take the v.3 upgrade. It is worth it. I did not initially take the deal, but a phone call to SCS gave me the product at the special price.

Robert, it was offered when you upgraded to Vegas Pro 13. If you did not select the offer, you can still get it either by contacting Sony Customer Service or by contacting NewBlue support.

@jetdv Yes. I just contacted Sony support who said the same. Thanks for the information. I didn't notice it during checkout.

So because of the response by New Blue I'm now convinced to do the Pro 3.0 upgrade. So this may be a dumb question but who is Edward and how do I contact him for the coupon and links since I didn't do the upgrade during the VP13 upgrade.

Thanks

Sorry, I just assume everybody knows who Edward is! He was actively helping Vegas users long before NewBlue wrote our first plugin.

You can also go to http://www.newbluefx.com/support and send a request.

BTW, I really appreciate the positive comments. Frankly, it's good to hear that people appreciate Titler. People tend to talk when they are unhappy with something, not so much when everything just works as expected or better. That makes logical sense, but unfortunately it colors the general reputation.

Best,

Todor

NewBlueFX,

Thanks for your response and revised strategy for Titler Pro 1. It's good to work with a company that listens to its customers.

I am Edward!

I've been in the Vegas community since about 2000 and wrote the first commercially available script - http://www.jetdv.com/excalibur - when Vegas Pro 4 was released which grew and evolved as Vegas has changed. I also have Montage Magic http://www.jetdv.com/mm.

I've also been working with NewBlue now for a number of years and will gladly assist with any NewBlue issues.

I also have a Vegas forum at www.jetdv.com which contains many newsletters for Vegas. While written for older versions of Vegas, most are just as valid today as wen they were written.

Thanks Edward.

I received my link this morning and completed the install. I had just a short time to look at it but am very pleased with what I have seen so far. TP3 looks good and the lower thirds will be a great asset.

Thanks again for the assistance.
