[Release] VEGAS Pro 16 – Powerful video production & audio editing

Fact is that editing on Intel Core i9. GTX 1080 Ti, 64 GB DDR4 RAM, NVMe 1 TB SSD should be soooo smoooth, but it isn't ...

this has been a real issue with me as well.

You'd probably have to write the code from scratch here to fix this DO CORRECT ME if I AM WRONG, people...I HOPE I AM WRONG....of course.

Maybe Magix Samplitude folks could inject some help with their "Freeze Track" idea, freeze object or region or event, although I am sure with vid compositing it would be more complex, or seemingly so.....

You just have to pre compose some things. Vegas will not handle all of the compositing and fx in real time --

- AND maybe that is asking too much, you don't think so, I don't think so, (but what do I know?) YOU ARE absolutely correct to ask for an equipment list.

At least Magix, tell us where the main bottlenecks lie.... equipment wise. They don't seem to really answer that idea, probably because all the answers don't sound that good...

But Vegas is a true compositing program, not as complete as After Effects, but

SO, short of re-writing the whole program, PLEASE give us a one button precompose with an "un freeze" function to go with that. Maybe more elaborate video busses that are pre buffered....or that you can freeze and un freeze.easily ..Maybe one that you option to put like a proxy to save drive space, but something that plays back glass smooth..... again, what do I know....

could someone please put 'Intelligent Background PreRendering', and 'contemporary codebase for improved hardware acceleration' back on the Todo list.. 'TinyPlanet' and a 'Saving Private Brian' colour preset doesn't really excite me through usefulness as far as a major version release is concerned..

my current Win10/64 system (latest drivers, water cooled) :

Intel Coffee Lake i5 Hexacore (unlocked, but not overclocked) 4.0 GHz on Z370 chipset board,

32GB (4x8GB Corsair Dual Channel DDR4-2133) XMP-3000 RAM,

Intel 600series 512GB M.2 SSD system drive running Win10/64 home automatic driver updates,

Crucial BX500 1TB EDIT 3D NAND SATA 2.5-inch SSD

2x 4TB 7200RPM NAS HGST data drive,

Intel HD630 iGPU - currently disabled in Bios,

nVidia GTX1060 6GB, always on latest [creator] drivers. nVidia HW acceleration enabled.

main screen 4K/50p 1ms scaled @175%, second screen 1920x1080/50p 1ms.

Mine Crashed on Start.

Maybe it was pilot error? Just kidding. I said that for fun.

"Even the DEMO PROJECT which opened in Vegas 16 by default is hanging slightly on playback during PREVIEW / HALF."

This does not surprise me. Seven video layers, different compositing modes, masks, pan/crop animations, various fx, dissolves, opacity levels. Lots of processing to be done.

You can't be serious.

The same project with almost all the settings runs perfectly smooth on the same machine in VEGAS 12, 13 ... :D This can be replicated pretty easily... there are some reasons behind this slowback ... and we are about to crack it once and for all. And by crack it I mean just figuratively not literally...

EDIT: I just tried replicate the same demo using all the resources from demo project inside Premiere. Runs smooth AF. Even 4K up preview. Nice. So, my computer is capable to run playback without any problem for all the 7 layers with different compositing modes, masks, pan/crop animations, various FX, dissolves, opacity levels,... but not in VEGAS 16 for which is the demo created.

I know, I will sound like really bitchy person, but ... *clap* *clap* *clap*

Does anyone know if the version of VEGAS DVD Architect that comes with Vegas Pro 16 is the same as the version that came with VP15, or will the version of VEGAS DVD Architect from VP15 work with VP16?

What I have found - It appears to be the same as the version offered with VP15 , Version 7.0, Build 84 which evidently is the latest version.

How to deactivate buttons

Hello! Who knows how to deactivate event buttons, when the track is minimized (with active buttons on other events). In 14 Vegas there was no such problem. When you try to move the event, the buttons are pressed.

@DeTomasi To Motion Tracking: It seems like an option will be added soon which allows for letting text be motion tracked.

joost-berk wrote on 8/28/2018, 4:56 AM

Great to see the new Vegas 16. Love the new tools! But is the tracking tool only limited to FX's? Can't we move object as events or track motion with this?

Sad to see though, that the big issues with the VST audio plugin stuttering is stil there. This must be fixed. I can't use VST plugins in Vegas without the audio been broken. Please give this the hight attention, than I can upgrade to version 16!

@Fiola You are right, there is something going wrong with the demo project in VP16. I will further investigate.

i just installed vegas pro 16 in W7 and W10 but I can't even open the program and run it crashed ,I don't know what I'm doing wrong Im using vegas pro 13 with no problem please help

jozef-pavlik wrote on 8/28/2018, 8:28 AM

The Trial VP16 has been installed but the program has been hanging on Initializing external monitoring for a long time. When the program is started up, it tries to open a Veggie (SampleProject.veg) but stays at 44%. And then .... yes unfortunately Vegas pro 16 is no longer responding. Do I just have that?

same here

I had that happen too, the first time I tried to implement external monitoring. Everything froze, and finally crashed. But after reloading, external monitoring working.

Upgraded to Vegas Pro 16 about 45 minutes ago, but I am yet to receive an order confirmation with nor the download links and Serial numbers.

Magix usually delivers this promptly. Don't know what happened today.

Please let me know.

VEGAS_EricD wrote on 8/28/2018, 10:26 AM

@asidcam If this is still an issue you can provide us here in support with the order number and we can look into that for you. The order number is provided on the final screen during the order process and can be pulled up in browser history.

Vegas 16 keeps crashing unusable until bugs are fixed.

@DeTomasi To Motion Tracking: It seems like an option will be added soon which allows for letting text be motion tracked.

Has this been confirmed?

Would be great if motion tracking could be integrated into things like text and ability to use a motion traced path onto other media.

VEGASDerek wrote on 8/28/2018, 1:04 PM

We have an update in the works (which we were hoping would be ready to go when the public release happened at the beginning of the week, but we had a delay while completing it) which has a script demonstrating the ability to attach tracking to things like text. The update will also have a number of other improvements and bug fixes. Over time, we will be greatly enhancing the motion tracking capability in VEGAS including updates to VP16 and future versions of VEGAS.

FWIW I can play it mostly at full fps in Full Auto on laptop.

Hey, when I installed Vegas 16, all of the functions work, except the Proyect Media hover scrubbing, cause when I try that function, the program crashes, like, I don't actually know why.

Is there any option to disable that function that Vegas 16 has?
