Upgrade to VMS Platinum 16 instead of Suite? It's the same editing programme but without extras, although you still get DVDA. See vkmast's last post here for the upgrade price https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/vegas-movie-studio-16-price-watch--114816/?page=2

D'Oh! Sorry. I was talking about VMS Platinum, not the suite. I should have said. The addon on offer ATM is not part of the suite, but a (probably Lite) version of HitFilm Superhero Pack. Your link led me to the same offer.

Thanks again

Nick

The "Add On" is what I consider an "extra inducement" to buy. It also changes so next month the inducement may be something more useful to you than what you got when you purchased. This can be frustrating. From memory that happened to FayFen - https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/vegas-movie-studio-16-price-watch--114816/#ca715284

Of course you don't have to download the extra inducement if you don't want it, but you don't get a discount for not doing so! But even at US$49.99 VMS16 Plat is a good buy. What version are you using at present?

I get what you mean about an inducement to buy. But not having the choice and, as you say possibly seeing a more suitable one next month will be annoying. But I guess it is what it is.

Right now I am using VMS 15 Platinum. I am pretty sure it was 16 Plat that I bought and it came with a Lite version of a Text creation plugin, which was no more than a toy. I asked for and received a refund. I can do better just using VMS.

The plugin before that (probably came with 15?) was a slow motion one, which I found was useless below 1/4 normal speed, as it produced really weird effects and strange blurring. Again I find VMS to be very smooth down to 1/4 speed and I would rather having to render and re-process to go lower, as well as the resulting flicker from Vegas, than what I was seeing from the plugin.

So two failed plugins (IME) is enough for me not to be enticed.

The actual "inducements" (i.e. new features and bug fixes) ATM in the new version (VMS 16 and VMSP 16) of the software itself can be found in these posts

The "release version"

Update 1

Update 2 (re VMSP b142)

Note that e.g. the "removed" Legacy Text Titler and Stabilizer are still available and can be "exposed" in the hidden Internal Preferences.

ATM it costs more to upgrade than it does to buy new.

AFAIK, the prices on vegascreativesoftware.com ATM are (us/gb/de, int)

VMS Platinum 16 New purchase $59.99 (£44.99, €49.99)

Upgrade $49.99 (£39.99, €44.99)

VMS Suite 16 New purchase $99.99 (£79.99, €89.99)

Upgrade $89.99 (£69.99, €79.99)

VMS 16 (basic) no Upgrade purchase option.
