English language v. of same. Yours probably works as in English v. despite an obvious (translator's) error?

Magix has taken a step backwards with this version. It's back to being crash/hang happy when pausing and moving the cursor around during playback

System 1:

Windows 10
i9-10850K 10 Core
128.0G RAM
Nvidia RTX 3060 Studio driver [most likely latest]
Resolution        3840 x 2160 x 60 hertz
Video Memory 12G GDDR5

System 2:

Lenovo Yoga 720
Core i7-7700 2.8Ghz quad core, 8 logical
16G ram
Intel HD 630 gpu 1G vram
Nvidia GTX 1050 gpu 2G vram

Do we have to uninstall our old version before running the patched version installer?

Marco. wrote on 9/3/2018, 2:50 PM

No, just install over.

Oh, thank god, that makes things a whole lot easier!

What is the difference between the settings for AMD VCE?

Sorry to say that this has been my experience too: although it is no better/worse for me than previous builds of 15. Has anyone seen this happen more often when there are mixed file formats in the project e.g. 24fps and 50fps, or XAVC-S and h264?

After the last update of Movie Studio Platinum 15.0 to version 146 again there is a problem with rendering file in MPEG-2 format. Vertical lines are jagged.

Does this Version support multiple GPUs for rendering? I have an AMD RX 560 and it's very fast compared to the 6C12T Cpu and a 2nd GPU would be a decent improvement!

Not for rendering, there you have to choose which one you want to use.
Hardware acceleration and rendering together can use 2 different GPU's at the same time, f.i. starting and using the program with Intel and than rendering with NVidia or v.v. is no problem.

First post here but a long-time user of Vegas, (Movie Studio Platinum since V6 and Pro since V10).

I am running Vegas Pro 15 on my edit workstation but have installed Vegas Platinum 15 trial on my 'office PC' with a view to purchasing it for use on simple tasks. I have one question:

Does Platinum 15 work with 10-bit and 4:2:2 video files from the Lumix GH5? Pro 15 does work well with them.

Thanks in anticipation.

EricLNZ wrote on 9/18/2018, 6:58 AM

I don't know the answer but why not try them in your Platinum 15 trial version. As far as I'm aware the only limitation of the trial is the length of the projects you can render. From memory they have to be under two minutes.

At least Movie Studio offers 8 bit processing only.

Update seems to have triggered an issue where I can't preview after rendering. If I try to preview after rendering it pops up "An error occurred during playback. The request is not enabled for this device." Is there a way to roll back the last update?

Really getting cheesed off with MS 15. I have suffered constant freezes for a while. Decided to do a clean install of the OS as I felt it may be my problem. Happy to say that I haven't had any freezing since but now my preview screen keeps blinking and then just going to black. Add to this the way some clips lose their sync between audio and video and it is becoming bloody hard work.

robbif2 wrote on 9/22/2018, 4:59 PM

Thanks to all the reports. Sorry for all the problems; but they helped me decide to stay with the "old" version as I'm in the middle of 3 projects!

Panander wrote on 9/23/2018, 5:19 AM

Right. My AMD Radeon HD6850 does not show up in Video Devices in MS15. I keep getting video and audio out of sync and my video preview is OK for a while then starts blinking and finally goes black. If I render this area that render is also black so it appears that it is not just a preview issue. Would like to point out that this is the only program running on a clean install of W10. I am running an i5, 16GB of RAM. Can anyone suggest what is going on here? I am getting rather close to ditching this software as it is creating problems and not helping me.

Can you show or describe us what you do see there?
How and where is your main monitor connected on the PC?

I can show you. You can see what I have. The Intel graphics are onboard. The AMD HD6850 is the graphics out. This is connected by a DVI cable to the monitor.

In MS15 under GPU processing I see .....

I have Off and the Intel graphics only.

The blinking and blacking out of the video is per track. The clip I am using is unusable then on the track it is on .... if I move it to a new track it is fine. The audio is fine all of the time - only the video is affected. If I delete then reload the the clip it is still showing the same problem.

And then there is the video/audio going out of sync - this on a grouped clip that has never been split. The audio is early (if you follow what I mean) and it affect all audio on that track. I move the audio on .1 sec and its fine again. This is video and audio recorded on a mobile phone btw. It was fine for most of the editing - but then it just slips out of sync. Some weird stuff going on here I can tell you.

Thanks for your interest.

Panander wrote on 9/23/2018, 12:08 PM

Furthermore ....... Upon rendering some clips goto black. This means that the whole thing is unusable. I have uninstalled it, rebooted and reinstalled - exact same issue plus the freezing which prompted me to actually reinstall the OS in the first place has returned.

Try following settings:

Dynamic RAM preview: 0MB

Rendering threads: 1

GPU acceleration: your videocard, not off

j-v wrote on 9/23/2018, 2:06 PM

It looks that Windows is seeing your AMD and Vegas does not.
Try in the BIOS to enable the Intel integrated GPU and the AMD both and install the latest drivers for that card, maybe it helps Vegas to recognise the card.

3POINT: That helped it render, thanks.

j-v: Both are enabled in the BIOS (otherwise they wouldn't show up in the DM). The AMD has the latest drivers (even tried the beta ones too - no change so dropped back to the latest rc)

Panander wrote on 9/26/2018, 1:19 PM

Well I am now worse off since reinstalling the OS and MS15. I was only having freezing before. Now I have that plus black blinking preview screens and rendered videos with black sections in them - also it does not see my Radeon video card. I have had enough - goodbye Vegas.
