lucrecia-c wrote on 9/4/2020, 6:30 AM

I bought Vegas 18 yesterday and it was working just fine. Today when I tried to open an older project, I got this error:

An error ocurred with the online connection, or the connection was interrupted. Please contact MAGIX support.

Error code: -17

Any ideas what might be causing it?

I have the same problem as well.
Every way I try to import a video file (so far mp4 and mpg) this error appears.

I don't have problem with mp3 files, jpg or png, thou'

edit: I've already submited a support ticket

The likely cause of this is the use of a cracked or compromised serial number. Who did you purchase this from?

If you are Steam version users, you should contact Steam for a refund if you are not able to use the software because of this error.

If you are Steam version users, you should contact Steam for a refund if you are not able to use the software because of this error.

This shouldn't be valid for Steam users. Steam needs to provide better support for the software they sell.

A problem occurred in the our product launch of VEGAS Pro 18 on Steam. We are working with Steam to remedy the situation.

The only way to fix this registration error on steam is to get a refund and repurchase a new key for the software, unfortunately.

I do, but it shouldn't be acceptable.

How can I trust to buy any other application from MAGIX if this happens? This is lack of support.

fr0sty wrote on 9/4/2020, 3:43 PM

You're being offered a full refund, then you can choose to rebuy the program and be issued a serial number that is not affected by this bug from there, which completely solves the problem. Lack of support would be doing nothing about it.

There was a problem with Steam, VEGAS Pro can still be purchased directly from the vegascreativesoftware.com website.

That is the shittiest solution I have ever read from the support staff. You offer a product and then you make it not work because you don't like the platform you sell it? You made a mistake in a region and then you force everybody there to get a refund? You have to take responsibility for it, and let the people that pay for it use the product. From my point of view, buying a key from a different platform may cause the same issue. I don't want to continue loose money from you. Never buying anything again.

Also: money refounded goes to steam. The money stays there. I can't use it in your platform anyway.

They can't be serious, they can't block what we buy ...

Why should I have to buy it again? You could just give me a new license if required. I already paid for this, I shouldn't have to incur into a new charge and wait for the refund. This IS poor support.

Call it what you will, it fixes the problem. If you don't want to do what is required to fix it, that's on you.

Is this for real?. How can MAGIX be trusted? That does not fix the problem, I still have the problem and you are not taking responsibility for the problem you/Steam created. What I know at this point is that I have bought a program that I need from MAGIX through a trusted platform, and I cannot use it. And moderators from the forum are just blaming users for not doing what's required to fix the issue (when they only offer one possible "solution" that is not actually a solution).

fr0sty wrote on 9/4/2020, 4:11 PM

I don't work for Magix, I'm just a VEGAS user. That is how the problem has to be fixed. If you're not willing to do that, get a refund and move on.

And the solution is a solution. It works, and the end result is a working copy of VEGAS, so you can deny that all you want, but it is a solution, and it's the only solution.

You have to fix the problem for me because you caused it, it is not a problem that the program has, you are violating our rights as consumers
