Sorry I might misunderstand (english is not my first language). I guess not but just to be sure; does 1 year of updates mean 1 year from when I purchased it, december 2022?

fr0sty wrote on 8/16/2023, 10:03 AM

It's highly unlikely that older versions of software will get an update unless it is a bug that affects a large number of users and makes the software unusable, I'm unaware of any such bug in VEGAS Effects 4, so I wouldn't count on any further updates. The one year of updates thing has not been implemented at this point, as of now it's just until the next numbered version releases, which often times is around 1 year, but that isn't guaranteed, it could be more, or less. All build updates that release in between numbered versions are released at no charge, however.

Strange mine will not do it from the FX manager window but will from the FX tab.

I cannot do it with any version of Vegas inc V13.

With me it worked this way in Sony Vegas 10 through Vegas Pro 21. Look for version 10:

So far I am loving Vegas Pro 21. Seems to be performing better than 20 too. One issue I just came up against is regarding Timecodes. 21 doesn't appear to be reading the timecodes. I have attached two images, the video file is the same, you can see that VP 20 reads the timecode fine, but VP 21 isn't reading it. This completely breaks my workflow, so any help with this would be appreciated.

@Shaun_K: Could you provide us some more details on the media? All we know is that is is packaged as an .MOV. A MediaInfo readout of this would be helpful for us to diagnose your problem.

Thanks J-V, it must be related to my PC in some way, not that it is any big deal.

New Vegas Pro 21 will not open. Crashes at start screen. Worked untill I loaded BBC to my computer now it wont open? any thoughts? I am a long time vegas user (since Vegas 4) and this is new to me. Tried reloading and unistalling BBC

I installed Vegas Pro 21 and it will not start - it quits at "creating windows" - no response yet from support - I've sent the fail message three times.

Petersson wrote on 8/16/2023, 2:01 PM

@fr0sty @Petersson

I trust Petersson that he will honestly test everything that is necessary.

Do let us know how that works out, if there's any work to be done still, the audio engineer will need to know.

I do know VST got an overhaul, with a big reduction and the number of redraw commands being sent being something that was mentioned... Among other things. Those of you who use Vegas for audio should notice some big differences.

The envelope bug and the flicker should be fixed in VP21.

Sorry for the weird quoting (I wanted to quote three replies where I was mentioned).

@fr0sty @VEGASPascal @pierre-k

I did already download the newest version, took me about 1 minute so that's a good start 😉

I did not have time to install it yet, because I don't want to "disturb" my daily workflow using both V20 and V21.

So this weekend I will try out the newest version, use my current workflow as always and report back my findings.

I really do appreciate the work of all the devs, no misunderstanding about that.

(but some audio-related bugs were / are really annoying - that's why I am sometimes a grumble old man).

Does VP21 have ANY immersive sound support (if not ATMOS, how about Sony 360/MPEG-H)? If not immersive will it at least offer 7.1.4 regular surround options?

I have purchased VEGAS Post 20 in November 2022 / 9 months ago. I believe if I want to upgrade to VEGAS Post 21 should be a special price. At the moment it's the same price going from EDIT to Post as POST to POST, and same price as if you're going to upgrade from V12 or V13. Do you see it fair ?

Also I have a question, I have BorisFX 3 units will they work in V21 or do I have to re-Install them from scratch?

Thanks in advance

David

@Mattias-Bodn At present it's a one year cycle from when the last version was released (August 2022). Maybe it will change to a rolling 1-year cycle depending on the purchase date in the future, but that's not how it works now.

When installing package. After first module installation it requests to restart computer. I did not do that as remaining packages (deep learning models etc.) installation would have probably failed.

When all packages have been installed, Vegas Pro Suite 365 dialog indicates that all packages have been installed. Vegas Pro 21 does not have green checkbox but exclamation mark instead. Progress bar is about 75% complete and user can press cancel button.  After few minutes of wait, I decided to restart computer.

After restart, there were Vegas Pro 21 application. I clicked that. It asks license key. As 365 user, I would expected that license key is automatically granted. No instructions were to look it. Tried checking my Magix account. Found new license key under Vegas Pro Suite.

Once Vegas was started. Added credentials to cloud service. Opened some existing project. Clicked audio channel and pressed ctrl + e. Sound forge audio studio license activation failed. Pressed cancel. Changed audio editor to Goldware. New Blue Titler Pro 6 does not start any more. Had to restart Vegas. Tried 2nd time. Worked.

Configured shuttle pro v2 jog to use VP21.

Checked some 4K clips recorded S AVC 4:2:0 8-bit. Seems to able use NVDEC when playback. It would be very interesting to read about bugs being fixed and other improvements under the hood.

Cannot comment program stability or general performance yet.

Initially looks good.

Some suggestions:

  1. External components license keys that user has received should be listed either in application or in Vegas account. Now I don’t slightest idea how to get Boris’s etc. stuff working in case of possible reinstall.
  2. When adding media to project, would it be possible change media color space from default to another (REC709, Slog3...) automatically or via configuration. Now user needs scroll narrow list box and pick suitable one. If user is using mainly 1-3 cameras, I believe this could be done quicker. I am aware of possibility to select all and then set color space at once.

Edit 19th Aug:

Changed S AVC 4:2:0 10-bit to 8-bit after checking it more carefully.

In your BorisFX My Account, current licences and serial numbers are given under the 'Licenses' menu selection. The same or similar should apply with other 3rd party providers assuming that registration/activation of their product required a My Account to be created or accessed on their website.

I have Vegas Pro Post 365 and just installed Vegas Post 21. However, the serial for 365 does not work for ACID Pro and SOUND FORGE Pro. How do I retrieve the correct keys?

Edit: Last Friday I received an email from Magix containing all the serial keys. I must try to be more patient! 😊

@Martijn-Kruijt if the order confirmation email does not arrive or give the keys, "please contact customer support, specifying your order number, under: shop@magix.net"

I like it that they included Sound Forge Pro back in the package, it hadn't been included for some years I think...

Acid maybe be interesting too, though I never used this one.

Haven't tested Vegas 21 yet, busy installing stuff and archiving installation files.
