Vegas Pro Survey on closing VP

Dexcon wrote on 5/7/2020, 8:55 AM

Every time I close Vegas Pro 17 these days, I get a pop up asking me to complete a survey with the carrot of a prize. It's not a long survey, but when I went to do it, I needed to identify my location - but only states of the USA are offered as a location. I do not live in the USA - no where else in the world is selectable - so why I am being presented with this survey for which I clearly do not qualify for? Anybody else getting this pop up outside the USA?

I was really happy to respond to the survey, as I like their products (and prizes) and unlike most surveys, I already gave them my contact information and email address which is usually a no-no. As always I read the beginning information to know if it was only for residents in a certain country, as is usually the case...halfway through I get to the address part and find out it is only for the USA...disappointed! My suggestion: they should just say this on the pop-up screen. And why not make another survey with prizes for people outside the US? Give away some title-pack/lower-thirds or something.

Maybe most of the Vegas customers are US based...?

Maybe they are the only ones to make sure are pleased for the future? :)

Maybe not?

Could it be a plugin you've got installed and not Vegas? I've never seen this popup. Been using VP 17 nearly daily for months.

It's an option in Vegas general preferences. "Use newsfeed to stay informed about Vegas product updates." Uncheck it. I unchecked it on my system after I kept getting that notification even after I responded to the survey. Kind of a shame they're abusing update notification this way if it forces you have to manually check for updates or read about them here to find out about them without opening up a spam channel.

Well... I did receive it with my Movie Studio 16, last year. Completed the questionnaire. I don't recall what they asked or what I answered, but I hope it was useful for someone.

I received and email about the survey first. Now, whenever I close VP17, I see the popup. No big deal for me.

Fingers crossed on winning VP18!

Nope. It's clearly from MAGIX, and all the questions relate to Vegas Pro - nothing to do with any 3rd party plugins. Of course, it could be from a really clever scammer - but then no ID details are requested.

Yeah, it would've been really considerate of them to have it toggle off that notification after having responded to the survey. So now I have to either turn off notifications entirely or curse and dismiss the notification every time I close Vegas until the end of time or hopefully when they update the app.

@billvo welll, it's not like they put out updates very often :-(
