VP18 - FX Favourites not staying put, gone after close-down

@fhu It's 27.21.14.5177. Confirm that it is this one, I used the new DriverUpdateGUI in VP18 and somehow loaded/installed one from last year, maybe I did something wrong.

The NVIDIA update worked initially. I favorite'd (starred) and then restarted VEGAS to see if they held. They did not. So I tried to "star" them again and it started to do the same crash. Back to square one.

I've got a support ticket open. I'll update if I come across an answer on my end.

JN- wrote on 8/5/2020, 5:17 PM

@fhu FWIW Just had crash same as yourself, clicking/selecting an item to "star". I thought that it had gone away also. If you get any feedback this millennium maybe update here, thanks.

I see this issue on my secondary PC (have not tried favorites yet on my main PC). This is fresh Windows install.

I tried the "Run as Administrator" trick.

I apply a few favorites, and I see them show up in the favorites tab.

I open the FavoritedVideoFX.settings with a text editor, and I see them all listed as below, even after I close VP18:

Then I close VP18 and open again and there is nothing in my Favorites tab. I checked the file again and immediately that file changes to this:

So the Running as Admin trick is not solving this.

Anyone else experiencing a crash as soon as you click on the "star" to favorite an effect?

Yes I faced similar problem when clicking on the stars very fast, but when I click slowly, Vegas doesn't crash! Still does not make sense why it crash when I click fast on stars!

have exactly the same problems as @JN-  - weird artifacts and and no way to save favourites.
Tried 3 different drivers including the newest studio and also gaming version. No luck.
Tried to run as administrator, changing dynamic RAM size, GPU acceleration... none of that didnt help either...

Had it happening in trial version and purchasing the full version also didnt help.. running out of the ideas.

Edit - GPU: RTX2070SUPER, CPU: R9 3900X

Regarding the OP. I've had to uninstall VP18 and reinstall several times. Now I'm in the same boat as a lot of users, my Favorites aren't being saved. I carried out the same procedure as before, running as Administrator, and it hasn't worked this time. So, as many have found, that's a bit of a 'red herring'.
I'll keep trying and report back if I have any success.

@vkmast Should be one along anytime soon🤣. Seriously, very good tutorials over at Scrapyard Films on all the new bits, great way to get up to speed. I really like the new changes to the colour grading, auto colour balance, exposure control etc.

I think that i’ve also resigned myself that, unless someone gets lucky, we’ll have to rely on the developers to figure this one out, it’s not for lack of trying on our part.

Hope thats clear. Add the FX to your favourites, but they only stay for the current session. Close VP and then open and no favourites. Maybe I have to apply in some way?

Having same problem with the Trial version of Vegas Pro 18! I thought it was a limitation in the trail version, but it seems not the case since others are facing same problem!

Suddenly and without me doing anything, the Trial version of Vegas Pro 18 today does not lose my favourites after restarting! Vegas Pro 18 solved the problem by itself! 😲  This random things drives me crazy 😵

@aboammar Well, lucky you. So, I thought why not, cost nothing, haven’t tried it since yesterday. It’s working🤪.

No windows updates, nothing different that I can think of of importance, yet it’s now working. The only thing within vp that I did, while messing around, not trying to fix this problem was to use the alternate HighDPI display, I actually enabled it and then disabled it. My laptop has a secondary monitor, QHD.

So Options/Preferences/Display/Use Alternate HighDPI Settings click apply, close down vp then open again.
