Forum access issue

Howard-Vigorita wrote on 2/27/2023, 3:48 PM

It's like the forum just went 4k. Can only get here with a proxy via the UK. Network trace suggests akamai redirection in the US is failing. Without a proxy, I get this trying to access normally in the US:

Slow responses including some server errors as well a while ago here. I'm in Northern Europe.

Ok now in the USA.

I just got the same error as @Howard-Vigorita and have been experiencing very slow download speeds for updates and such, for the last few weeks. btw, I am in New York.

On another forum related issue. There are a lot of spam bots posting here, Maybe if it was required that email address's to be authenticated before posting or commenting it would prevent the dumber bots.

Really? How many have you seen in the past 11 days? Since the spam blocker was fine tuned Moderators haven't had to block any. The system has dealt with them and they haven't appeared here.

Unfortunately we know of one genuine poster who was accidentally blocked and hope there aren't others.

The Magix Community forum doesn't appear to be as fortunate. It's General Information section was swamped yesterday in the early hours GMT time.

EricLNZ wrote on 2/28/2023, 1:59 AM

The forum access is still playing up for me in the South Pacific.

vkmast wrote on 2/28/2023, 2:13 AM

@EricLNZ here as well again some intermittent slow responding. Spams are a different topic but as you say progress has been made and it seems that admins are considering suggestions and options regarding new registrations.

Maybe 3 bots, but perhaps over a duration of a few weeks. I was basing my concern on the infrequent amount of times I've been checking the board lately, but could be coincidence, and I've witnessed all the bots of the last few weeks

vkmast wrote on 2/28/2023, 3:50 AM

@Todd-A0 did you actually report any of the bots you've witnessed?

RogerS wrote on 2/28/2023, 6:46 AM

I've reported a few. Most are around before Europe wakes up.

Don't think this has anything to do with the forum being slow, though.

It's down time and time again right now. It's hard to know what time zone I'm in right now because I'm on a cruise ship but with an excellent 65 Mbps download speed.

From Vegas staff comments on the forum recently and in the past, it seems to me that MAGIX servers are a couple of decades out-of-date. Come on MAGIX, grow up and cater for the 3rd decade of the 21st century - stop being a cheap no-investment company lest you are left to be a failed company because you declined to keep up with current day customer expectations.

Our system administrators are looking into the problems.

It's got worse this evening my time. 1 March 2023 9.10 pm = 8.10 am GMT.

Our system administrators are looking into the problems.

It's a serverside problem.

The queries to the main DB are routed wrong, so the ping is extreme low which results in unreachable / unusable interaction.

Check the booleans inside the DB query, they are overflowing the system.

Lol, this low end scripting platform becomes as buggy as Vegas does.

Maybe the loadbalancer went nuts and is now resolving the wrong DNS, but the issue is 100% backend related.

It's not only the forum, the homepage also went dead and showed a dead cat with sunglasses.

Server seems to be getting slammed by something at particular times which isn't good. I'm also timing out a lot this week.

VEGASDerek wrote on 3/1/2023, 10:53 AM

I know the system administrators are still looking into this issue. It seems to be a problem between the database and the cloud servers used to run the site. Some other Azure based services appear to be having some issues as well.

bitman wrote on 3/2/2023, 2:59 AM

Same here from Belgium. Nice to have 1 Gbps internet and waiting or not even getting in.

I whish they also change the CAPTCHA test to something else than Selecting traffic lights... I am getting pretty good at selecting traffic lights!

Anyway, thanks anyway for the post, good to know it is not a client side issue!

@Grazie again I had traffic lights to select in order to get access to this forum; if I can make a suggestion:
