HELP! Videos being distorted when imported to Vegas Pro

David-Murat wrote on 2/11/2023, 3:31 PM

I'm trying to make a youtube video and using footage recorded in OBS then trimmed down and turned into MP4 (Since Vegas Pro won't read MKV) before editing it together in Sony Vegas Pro.

The problem is that the videos look fine until they hit Vegas Pro, at which point they start doing this:

https://youtube.com/shorts/_S2W2Bi7YtM?feature=share

Can anyone help me figure out what's going on? I've been looking for a fix but don't see this specific issue pop up anywhere so far.

Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

Huh? I'm running Vegas Pro 20.0 so I'm very confused if this is the case.

Magix purchased VEGAS at version 13. Versions 14 - 20 are Magix versions. See the link posted by vkmast.

This has not fixed my issue Unfortunately. Is there anything else I can look or someone else I can contact, or do I just edit the info at the end of that post into this one and wait?

Is the sample video supposed to be a clean capture that plays well in players? That's not what I observed when tested. It appears that the green flickering is captured in this video.

@john_dennis - It appears so. When I play it in MPC-HC I get the same result as you and the Media Properties seem to match that which @David-Murat posted. So the problem is in the mp4 file and not anything Vegas is doing to it.

Oh my apologies. I thought you needed a sample of the corrupted video so this was after being run through Vegas.

Here is the original/clean clip (Added to the folder as well): https://drive.google.com/file/d/1phAtERtNVeooOxjaJO1M0A8It76zOVZk/view?usp=sharing

I'm not a VP user but "Premise of the Game.mp4" opens perfectly in my VMS17Platinum using plug-in "so4compoundplug.dll".

Now wait to see how VP20 users find the file.

Meantime @David-Murat it might help if you could post your full system specs especially GPU as the answer might lie there.

Vegas 13-19 on the system in my signature

Huh. So if it's not the video or Vegas itself, does this mean my issue is likely due to a setting I didn't set correctly?

Oh wow thank you. I had updated the NVidia ones but apparently missed the Radeon ones.

This seems to have fixed the issue. Thank you so very much!

And a big thank you to everyone else who replied and helped here. I really appreciate it!

Glad to help! Including details like hardware in the original post would have led to a quicker resolution.

Yes, that's my bad. I'm not very tech savvy and I admit it didn't even come to mind until people started suggesting it.
