Movie Studio 18 has nothing to do with Vegas Movie Studio

We have just made an official announcement about MS 18 in the "News" section.

VEGASDerek

Great news Thank you. I'm on the beg, steal or borrow wagon to get VP by the 21st. As a matter of interest, will we still be entitled to the VP19 upgrade? Or will it be an extra cost for the upgrade from the upgrade? Gosh, that word 'upgrade' is being used a lot today.

Regards

Ross

I do not know if this deal includes a free upgrade to VP 19. My guess at this point would be no.

vkmast wrote on 7/16/2021, 10:39 AM

I would also expect that to be the case.

Indeed, as a regular upgrade from VP18 to VP19 cost normally about 170$ when I remember right, it would be not fair that a VMSP17 user would get VP19 for just 99$.

But nevertheless, an upgrade from VMSP17 to VP18 for 99$ is a real fair offer which I would not refuse.

I've followed the link to the US vegas site and ordered VP 18 Edit for $99. I'm in the UK but no problem in receiving the download. Also, for the $99 you can get Boris FX Particle Illusion Standalone and NewBlue El;ements 3 Overlay included for free. Converted to GBP it cost me £71.

That you got NB Elements 3 Overlay is great, but the BorisFX Particle Illusion Standalone isn't really an 'extra' value because Particle Illusion SAL is free anyway: https://borisfx.com/products/particle-illusion/

BTW, make sure that you also download the Particle Illusion Emitters - also free - from BorisFX's download page.

What I do find intriguing is that while the sales price of VP18Edit is great, for $50 more on the VEGAS webpage, if you decide to buy there, you also get VP19Edit when it's released.

We all know that VP19 is around the corner literally. If someone can get the extra money, that is something that I think they should do.

That's only for VegasPro Upgraders, not for Newbuyers which you actually are when coming from VMS. For Newbuyers VP18edit+VP19edit costs 299$

The only positive thing about MS18trial compared to VMS17 I found till now is only a smoother preview.

Ross-Jackson wrote on 7/17/2021, 5:53 AM

Says on the site ,

VMS can upgrade to VP edit for £74, or, if VMS upgrades to Edit for £109, then they are guaranteed upgrade to VP19. My funds won't go that far for either. But it sound like great value. I'm staying with VMS.

@Former user as I advise in your own thread, this forum is not able to issue refunds. Double posts here don't help in your case.

He's probably still recovering from the shock. A lot of work involved for the Affiliates amending links, plus their tutorials are now demonstrating software that can no longer be purchased.

Also it appears Magix gave them no advance notice.

Yes, his biggest mistake is to continue using the name "movie studio" both in referring to the new as well as the old one. He could made it clearer to his viewers by using "VMS" vs just "movie studio". A final note caption was also missing "Movie Studio 18 is totally different software than Vegas Movie studio". Fade out.

Adam @Tech_Dive

Thank you for the video. It is obvious that this has hit you much more than just a normal user. The amount of work now needed by yourself and other affiliates is phenomenal. No warning of the change exasperates the problem and feelings. Hard to rush out a video this early. Really appreciated the display of your care and consideration to us users. Take your time with the next direction. Wish you well. Keep Safe

Those having comments that critique the video, well, it's one thing to sit in a chair and watch, another to put it together in a short amount of time and have all the other considerations (affiliate links, tons of VMS videos with links, etc.).

I think he did a great job of saying something about the situation, especially the uphill battle he and others who do these tutorials, have.

There is a lot for affiliates to have to unpack, think about, and what to do going forward. But then, let's critique because he didn't use VMS instead of MS.....

That was also my impression while watching the video. Importantly, Tech_Dive was getting the message out as quickly as possible but was winging it IMO - i.e. it wasn't scripted.

The use of the blocks and the cardboard boxes reminded me of a segment maybe 10 years ago on BBC World's Travel Show (I'm fairly sure it was that program) where the inventor of dynamic pricing for airfares (apparently introduced by Qantas) - 'yay' if you get a really low airfare cost when you book, but 'boo-hiss' if you pay a high price and the seat next to you is half the price a week later - and that inventor used a series of buckets on the studio floor to explain how dynamic pricing works. I must admit that the explanation left me rather confused. Tech_Drive's use of the boxes/buckets demonstration was much better IMO.

Hi Comrades 🤓

I have been working on videos about the death of Vegas Movie Studio all weekend and the great Magix "bait & switch", which may turn into a Netflix series soon.

Anyway, here is the video I have published on YouTube and Facebook called Vegas Movie Studio has been cancelled - Analysis & Explanation of what happened. If anyone watches it, I have added Chapters for speed watchers, so you don't fall asleep.

I also thought that I was getting way too serious about what has happened, and decided to channel my alter-ego. For anyone with a twisted sense of adult humour, I highly recommend my Spanish guy reacts... production that only lasts a few minutes.

Spanish guy reacts to VEGAS Movie Studio being cancelled!

Have a great week everyone!

@ Dr Zen I think your recommendation for VMS17 users to buy VP18+VP19 for just 149$ is not correct. This 149$ is an Upgrade offer for Vpro Users and not for VMS Users.

VMS17 Users are offered an Upgrade to VP18 for just 99$, which is a real good offer and a much better offer than the offer from Magix where you pay 60$ to get an upgrade to MS18.

FayFen wrote on 7/18/2021, 9:07 AM

Boy Dr. ZEN... the Spanish VMS version is fantastic . You just nail it with every sentence. I think in the forum I'm the nearest to the Suez canal, I'm on my way for C64...
