PC Resetting (Version 14.0 64-bit, Build 270)

Windows 10 Home, OS Build 19042.1237

I've been having troubles with performance as of late so I was going to perform a reset of my PC which would remove all applications from my computer, notably Vegas Pro, which has specified that if I deactivate it on this PC, I won't be able to reactivate it again later. So I was wondering a few things before going through with it; One, if I reset my PC without deactivating the software, will it retain the settings or anything and I won't have to reactivate it, two; If I reset my PC without deactivating it first and it DOESN'T retain the settings, will it still detect this PC as the same one as before, and I won't be able to reactivate it again, and three; if I reset my PC and I DO deactivate it first, will it again, detect this PC as being the same one and not allow me to reactivate it?

You should be able to deactivate Vegas Pro 14 via the deactivate option under Help - I haven't got 14 installed at this time but that is where the deactivate option is available in later Vegas Pro versions. Or you can go to My Products in My Account on your MAGIX account and deactivate there (can only be used once per month).

If you mean by 'reset ... my PC' that you will be reinstalling Windows, then of course settings for all programs will be deleted because you will be wiping the OS drive. But there are locations across lots of folders on the C drive which contain Vegas Pro 'settings' which can be copy/pasted to external media which can then be copy/pasted back into your new OS install. Sorry, but I don't have a list of those folders.

Will it still detect your PC after an OS re-install? Yes.

If you have Vegasaur installed, it can do the work for you: Tools / Vegas Presets Manager

Actually (AFAIK and Nick's VP Release History), build 270 was the last update (#7) of VP 14. MAGIX Account also offers that one.

VEGAS Pro 14 b 270 has the Deactivate option in Online Help as in later versions. The relevant FAQ below

"To deactivate a device, so you can activate a different one, visit your MAGIX account > My Products > Show More Details > Deactivate. This option can be used only once a month.

In VEGAS Pro 14.0 or later, you can also choose Deactivate the Software on this PC from the Help menu. This option can be used as often as you wish. An internet connection is required."

You're absolutely correct... I mistakenly went by the install file name instead of firing it up. Deleting my post above to avoid confusion for others. Fwiw, I tried out the deactivate choice in the help menu and it worked. But when I went to reactivate, it threw an error and I had to uninstall then reinstall to get it up again.
