vegas pro 14 upgrade price

rbofaz wrote on 10/22/2016, 11:54 AM

I have been a user of Vegas Pro since version 7. I have never paid more than $149 for an upgrade. On June 30, 2017 you sent out an email with an offer to purchase both Vegas Pro 13 and 14 for $199.95. Since I already owned Vegas Pro 13, and did not need another copy of the software, I did not reply to that offer. I along with a majority of your customers figured that you would be sending out a better offer when Vegas Pro 14 came out that did not include Vegas Pro 13. That has not happened. While I do understand that prices go up, charging $100 more than Sony ever charged for an upgrade is not a good way to retain customers. Considering that you offered both Vegas Pro 13 and 14 for $199.95 I think it would be far if you offered an upgrade to Vegas Pro 14 for registered owners of Vegas Pro 13 for $175.00.

Hi

The offer to upgrade is still on until 30/10/2016.- see this post.

What you used to pay with Sony and what the price is now are not relevant.

What is relevant is that the future development of the program, which was, IMHO, somewhat neglected by the previous owners, is now secure and has to be paid for with a very modest increase of $24 for a product that retails at $599.

John I’m not sure where you learned how to read or do math. My post specifically talks about Vegas Pro, not Vegas Pro Edit or Vegas Pro Suite, and paying a price of $149 for an upgrade. You post mentions that “IMHO, somewhat neglected by the previous owners, is now secure and has to be paid for with a very modest increase of $24 for a product that retails at $599.” If you add $24 to the $149 I have previously paid for an upgrade to Vegas Pro that would be $173. If you follow the link you supplied the offers it show are Vegas Pro 14 Edit: $199, Vegas Pro14: $249, and Vegas Pro 14 Suite: $349. I do not see where is Vegas Pro 14 is the $173 as you reference.

Where does the $24 increase number come from?

IMO that is a blatantly false statement.

Hi

The $24 (actually $24.95) came from the robfaz's suggested price of $175.00 in rbofaz's post over in the magix.info forum and the offer of an upgrade for $199.95 mentioned in the same post.

This seems to be a special offer that can be purchased by anybody and it valid until end of October 30th. But it is not an typcial "upgrade" really because - for this offer - you will not need an serial no of an older version of the product.

BUT there was another upgrade path mentioned here too:

https://support2.magix.com/customer/vegas/upgrade

And whilte I do not see here any time limitation here you have the need to fill in your serial number of your older product. Here the upgrade price for Vegas Pro is $249, but you could take also Vegas Pro Edit for $199 or even the suite for $349.

$599 seems to be the regular price if you do not have an serial from an earlier product, and wish to purchase as new customer Vegas Pro after dthe 30th of October.

I guess it might be read in that "strange way" as Quitter puts it. You can also read Vegas Pro 14 to be regularly $599.

I don't think there even is a "regular upgrade price" at the moment. As above mentioned, now there is the (time-limited) upgrade offer and the special upgrade offer (no time limit specified) both giving the same price $249 for VPro 14.

Unless otherwise advised, I take the special upgrade offers in the link below to be (become?) the regular upgrade prices in the sense that SCS used the word "upgrade."

https://support2.magix.com/customer/vegas/upgrade

Anyway, Quitter's link showing the VPro 14 product page confirms the new purchase price as $599. At least that's unambiguous.

I just did the upgrade offer a few days ago for $249.  I already had V14 Trial.  I did not have to enter any old serial numbers.  Once I paid,  they e-mailed me all the serial numbers.  I then entered the numbers in the V14 Trail, Mercalli and NewBlue stuff  and I was done.  I used this link to get to the upgrade offer.  http://www.vegascreativesoftware.com/us/newsletter/special-offer/vegas-pro-14/

Nick, I knew of course that post, but is there anywhere on the product pages a "regular/standard upgrade price" mentioned? All I've found so far is "Welcome to the special upgrade offer for old program versions" and an occasional pop-up saying "Looking to UPGRADE? Please email our customer service at upgrade (at) vegascreativesoftware.com. Include the serial number from the version you currently own to receive the upgrade offer."

IMHO, Quitter's blast from the past is spot-on.

One could also say that the loyalty we may have had to Sony is not relevant to Magix.

But I wonder if this point here:

What is relevant is that the future development of the program

is relevant for other users too? For me it is relevant!

Well I just spent the last of my disposible income to upgrade my Mocha Pro 4 to 5.  Better investment in my opinion.  Now I'll wait to see what Vegas 15 brings....  However, I should note I'm getting pretty proficient with Resolve 12.5 and Fusion 8.  Lately I've been bypassing Vegas al together.  Resolves editing is much better than I expected.

So lets see what happens with 15....  It better be earth shattering.
