VEGAS Pro 18 Update 3 (Build 434) - General Discussion

Hello, I can't render the entire movie after the update. It hangs randomly in various places. My hands fall. I need to hand over the video to the client and I can't finish it. Another great update.

You should start your own thread and include information needed to help you. General advice: set dynamic ram preview to 0. If that's not enough, disable GPU preview acceleration and try again. Hope you can get it to work.

@musko

@Bri-Hageman
Track Motion window still don't remember size and position.

It's sad and ridiculous

Hm. It looks similar to Pan/Crop issue that was introduced in one of VP17 updates and that was never fixed in VP17 (it was fixed in VP18 only).

I hope this time you will be lucky to have it fixed in VP18.

I have tracked this bug down...while similar to the Pan/Crop problem, the root cause was a bit different. I hope to have this resolved in a future update of VP 18.

@VEGASDerek That's good news. Thanks. Hasn't been a great problem for me, but it'll be nice not to have to resize it after every re-launch of VP.

EDIT: Fixed, just went to the folder where it has been installed opened the 700Mo file from there.

Hello, I can't Install it after getting this error. "The installation program canot update Vega Pro 18.0 if it's running."

I get the same error trying to install the new version

Download Build 434 from this link and install it when Vegas Pro is not runing https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/vegas-pro-18-update-3-build-434--126816/

That should solve the problem - at least it worked for me 😉

Not sure if already mentionned, I really just have time to launch the download right now, will upgrade and test if my reported issues were solved later...

But link https://rdir.magix.net/?page=0BB8KC91YB8S is blocked by Google Chrome for me (redirected to "about:blank#blocked" ). Is there anything suspiscious about it?
I could download it using Brave browser (private session). (I didn't try with any other browser or session type.)

@TTTT try MS Edge and be sure to first check Task Manager to see that there are no VEGAS processes running. Problems with Chrome reported in several threads for some time now.

Note that if you copy the URL text and paste it, it should work with Chrome. I just tested it again.

After downloading the new update I get a message to close Vegas to update even though Vegas is closed. Downloaded again and clicked update when Vegas is closed.....nothing happens after closing vegas.

Completed 6 hours of paid work using V18.434... Most everything went smoothly but it messed-up some of my customized render settings & I still cannot important more than 20 or so files at once based on certain QuickTime-related codecs... I get that QT is only 32-bit & no longer supported by Apple, but a LOT of old footage was saved in some type of QT variety & I don't have his problem in other NLEs... But, LOVE Vegas' workflow because I make more $$ per hour than if I use any other NLE to create the same results... FCP, Resolve & PP are better for projects that require collaboration, FCP's non-track approach is great for certain projects with specific effects (like those Zoom meeting boxes...), but Vegas wins hands-down for get-it-out-the-door efficiency... Time = Money & Money = Time 'cause I get paid by the project, not by the hour...

EDIT: I meant 18.434 not 373 as corrected above...

Find the installation file: users - Admin - AppData (hidden folder) - local - Vegas Pro - 18.0, or download from the site - my products.

Magix should just give up on the update inside Vegas. It never works for most of us. And the program doesn't even know that we've previously downloaded it. So it keeps prompting us, again and again. One would think that the programmers would know this and fix it or abandon it.

@dirk-g Was that really appropriate to say? Magix engineers are on this forum and are people, too. You can express disappointment without insults. This thread goes into the issue- apparently drivers are hanging and preventing Vegas from fully closing.

We don't mind offering you help finding solutions to your problems, but we ask that you refrain from blowing off steam. While we understand that it is frustrating for something you bought to not be functioning properly, it makes our job of helping you find solutions harder if we have to wade through complaints to get to the people who actually want to be helped.

Update. I posted the other day about the fact that this build was crashing every ten minutes. It was now its not.

My machine ran better with the previous version with the intel display driver disabled. I did a driver update in Vegas and reinstalled the driver and low and behold I am a happy bunny!

No idea why but if you were having the same problem give it a try.

The autoupdate did not work here, actually never has in any version. I downloaded and installed the update manually.

I currently refrain from working in V18, as it is so much slower on the timeline as well as the renders than V17 that it's partly unusable for me. Even on draft / auto it stutters hugely, where V17 is heavily pixellated but at least fluent.

I cannot get this update to install. When I choose the option through the app itself, it prompts with an error that I cannot have Vegas running. I've been unable to download of the announcement page, the links are not navigating to the correct page.

I've spent hours trying to find these files, and the only build I've found is for Vegas Pro Suite 373.

Please help!
