One thing I find disconcerting....In the exclusive in subscriptions benefits vs. outright purchase...it lists "latest updates." If I take that statement at face value, it seems to say if there are bug fixes, etc., and we have made an outright purchase, we would not receive the updated (fixed) version. Am I being too literal?
That's a good point. The meaning of this should be clarified upfront before we buy, at best by Magix staff.
You will get updates to VEGAS Pro 19 for both perpetual and subscription licenses. I agree that wording is a little confusing. "Upgrades" to future versions of VEGAS are only available if you have a subscription service.
It is our intention to continue to deliver new features, along with the usual bug fixes, throughout the typical life cycle of VEGAS Pro 19, which is a benefit of our new delivery model.
Im under the impression my upgrade to 19 is free (via recent 18 upgrade..2 for 1 promo). I just received an email for a paid upgrade to 19. My "free upgrade" details soon to follow??
One note I'd like to make about this release, for those who are worried about its stability... This is the most heavily tested release of any release of VEGAS under Magix. The size of the testing pool and hardware was dramatically increased, and other things were done to make testing and reporting the results much easier for the beta team.
I'm confident this will be the most solid release version ever. Bug free? Maybe not, but easily as solid as 18's latest build IMO.
One more thing... help us grow the VEGAS brand. Please download this video to your hard drive and share it to your social media channels, let's get the word out, get some new VEGAS users, so we can grow the team and add more of those features y'all are asking for!
I've an annual VP 365 subscription that started in April, but the text-to-speech feature seems to think I don't, and throws up a dialog saying I need a subscription. Similarly the new VEGAS Content tab in the Hub Explorer doesn't work (it's just empty). Mobile Uploads still works fine though.
@Chris-Harwood yes, expect the email to arrive in the next few days, not necessarily today, at least for all.
Have not gotten my email yet either. Nor does the new Vegas 19 serial number appear in my account yet. I noticed when I first purchased older versions of Vegas w/o the 2-for-1 deal in the past that the serial number appeared in my account automatically. But that when I purchased with the 2-for-1 deal for v16-17, the new v16 appeared automatically but the v17 upgrade one never showed up in my account until I got the email and registered.
So I still have Boris FX Continuum Key and Blend Unit and Lights Unit from Vegas Pro 16. Can this be used together with the Primatte Studio? When I install Continuum 2021.5 for Primatte Studio, I have to uninstall the old Continuum version and it seems that I then lose the licenses for the old plugins. Not that I used them a lot, but I still like to keep having what I once paid for.
Updated pre-render workflow? What does this mean? Additionally better use of dynamic ram for rendering? I have had renders stop in V18 and have had to adjust the dynamic ram to 0 or sometimes somthing big. Is this now fixed?
pre-render is now faster, automatically selects formats based on project settings. give it a shot!
And yes, much work was done on dynamic RAM, including how it is allocated (now a % of total system RAM), and VEGAS now recognizes more than 32GB of system RAM.
Also, I'm not noticing a bunch of crash reports in this thread as we'd usually see in previous version releases. A testament to the new beta team and beta bug reporting process. This was the most heavily tested version of VEGAS ever released since the acquisition by Magix, and it's showing.
Is there a way to log many years of footage without going to a cloud? I believe Vegas Prepare was supposed to do this. I don't use most of the new bells and whistles.
Service based features, where you get storage space over a period of time, or access to a steadily updated catalog of media that is constantly updated and licensed for you to use, or access to features that use web-based AI (like text to speech) to tap into a constantly-updated AI that is learning how to better speak multiple languages all the time, you can't make that work on a perpetual licensing model where there is no way of knowing how long that user is going to be accessing that online service (so you can't come up with one price that works for everyone). A subscription is required to make features like that work.
The rest of the stuff that doesn't require an internet connection to work in the first place, it will remain in the perpetual versions. Don't worry, they aren't trying to lock you out of buying perpetual licenses by putting online features behind a paywall... it's just that a subscription model enables new types of online-enabled services.
Edit: But when I check at the beginning of the afternoon, I'm quite sure I saw the usual prices, but I think the prices are indeed a bit lower now.
Gary mentioned in the VEGAS 19 release video that they have made the pricing structure more attractive.
Does Vegas Pro 19 support VST3 audio plug-ins? And if not, are there any plans to fix this problem any time soon? Leaving Vegas to process audio is, in my opinion, a huge negative. The fact that Vegas "was" always a premium multitrack audio environment is one of the main reasons I've stuck with it since it was originally released. Without VST3 support, it's now lagging behind all of the competition in the audio department. I'm on the fence for Vegas Pro 19 until someone can offer some kind of answer for current and future audio improvement.
No VST3 yet, but yes, I have heard straight from the team that audio is a big priority moving forward. This new delivery model, where they will release new features more frequently rather than saving them for big version releases, will ensure we see that sooner than later.
Thanks, fr0sty. It helps to know there's at least a desire to fix it. Every time I've asked in the past, there's been silence. It would be good to have some kind of idea when it might happen... whether it's something in the near future (a few weeks) or a long term goal (months or years). I understand it's perhaps a secondary feature for most, but for me the audio engine is EXTREMELY important to my projects. Still not sure about upgrading, but a tiny bit more on the positive side of the fence now... thanks.

You would need to update your older licenses to 2021.5
