@wwaag, I do use the OtterInfoBar and have it as a docked window. Looking forward to the update.

I have downloaded the new build, and now whenever I click Render As, my software loads for a couple of seconds and then closes/crashes (no crash report). I am unable to render. Anyone has met this issue? I have windows 11, and a monthly subscription to Vegas 365.

scott-revels wrote on 5/6/2023, 1:26 PM

I replaced my laptop and now Vegas Pro does not show the video in Preview Window while rendering. Has anyone else seen this problem after upgrading their hardware? I have a Razor Laptop with the 13th Gen i9 and Nvidia RTX 4070.

@scott-revels, this should probably be a new post instead of in this one. But what video driver are you using for your nVidia card?

Yes, I have the check box selected.

scott-revels wrote on 5/6/2023, 2:26 PM

@jetdv, I'm using driver version 531.41

@scott-revels from the OP: "If you are having any issues using the update or have specific questions, please create a new thread." (As also suggested by jetdv above.). You are likely to get your issue better noticed as this is a "general thread for general comments on the update". Thank you..

@scott-revels, did you try the solution in the link I included?

Awesome thanks so much for your help👍

Q1

ok cool I think I downloaded latest version I put a screenshot, if possible please let me know I’m up-to-date?

Q2

And long story short I’m unfortunately getting constant crashing when rendering with my new powerful desktop and Vegas pro 20:(

been troubleshooting this with a professional computer technician and so far we’re hitting walls, anything you could suggest would be greatly appreciated, I’ll put screenshots to show my system info, hoping there isn’t a conflict with the hardware or something:(, please let me know if you have any fix for crashing renders?

i’ve never had this problem before:(

Again really grateful for your time and help🙏long time Vegas fan,

BeauS.

Beau, can you create a new thread for this issue? It will get lost here. Include hardware info and details about the media.

Is your Intel IGPU enabled for decoding? If not enable it in bios.

You have the latest version of VEGAS.

I'd try the current NVIDIA Studio driver.

Use Window key alt s or print screen to take screenshots.

Custom PC (2022) Intel i5-13600K with UHD 770 iGPU with latest driver, MSI z690 Tomahawk motherboard, 64GB Corsair DDR5 5200 ram, NVIDIA 2080 Super (8GB) with latest studio driver, 2TB Hynix P41 SSD, Windows 11 Pro 64 bit

Dell XPS 15 laptop (2017) 32GB ram, NVIDIA 1050 (4GB) with latest studio driver, Intel i7-7700HQ with Intel 630 iGPU (latest available driver), dual internal SSD (1TB; 1TB), Windows 10 64 bit

VEGAS Pro 19.651
VEGAS Pro 20.411
VEGAS Pro 21.208

@Beau-Schekeryk You're not going to believe this, I sure didn't. VegasPro still isn't fully compatible with 40 series GPU's even though they were released in October last year. I also have 40 series, and it now crashes as often as all the old Vegas's used to. Not 100% sure if the crashing is due to incompatibility with new GPU, but all errors are related to the Vegas executable, nothing suggests GPU or GPU driver problem, nor any GPU problem with other software.

Start your own thread about this.

You guys are awesome 👍thanks so much for your help 👍👍

and I apologize if I’m not posting in the right place,I’m new to forums so sometimes I get a bit confused here I apologize🙏

& oh my goodness I can’t believe it about the video card yikes 🙏thanks so much for letting me know Todd-A0 you rock👍👍

Ok cool well I bought this new desktop from a really cool computer company so maybe they can help me out with a less powerful but still powerful video card🙏
Is there any video card that you would recommend that would be great before the 40 series that works with Vegas🙏?

Again can’t thank you enough 🙏👍👍🎶

I have a question about the new features added:

  • Select a device for RAW processing
  • RAW processing with CUDA

Could there be more info on what the benefit is? I know you can set it in the preference file-IO, but what are the consequences choosing NVIDEA CUDA vs OpenCL on NVIDEA?

I presume OpenCL on Nvidea also uses CUDA under the hood. So does it increase speed at timeline editing using RAW by skipping OpenCL front?

Does it affect rendering with speed increase or quality loss?

An in depth description of the benefits or caveats from the developers would be appreciated. As much as I like to benchmark, a little more info or background on the new feature would help to choose and rule out wrong assumptions and expectations.

I've noticed a change in the way 403 works slightly differently than V19 651and previous versions in dragging clips to timeline. Any one else see this? In V19 651 the left click on the video section or the frame will drag the clip to timeline. With V20 403 the left click will not drag the clip to time line if curser is on central part of clip (ie where you drag the scroll line), you can only drag the clip if the curser is on the blue frame. I have reinstalled 403 and no difference.

@Beau-Schekeryk Ideally they would add support for 40 series GPU's, and they'd tell us when that's going to happen so you would have a better idea if you should keep your rtx 4090. I recall this happened with the 30 series GPU's too, for the longest time NVENC encoding didn't work properly, and it was only fixed with the last version of VP18 (from memory). The time between release of 30 series and VP18 becoming fully compatible via build 527 was 9 months.

There's lots of reasons Vegas crashes that is unrelated to an incompatible GPU. I had a good stable VP20 experience until I upgraded to 40 series, and it sounds like that's true for you too, but it still might be coincidence and there's another problem that can be fixed

Good Nvidia GPU's would be 3080 12GB, 3080ti, 3090, 3090ti

thanks so much for your amazing knowledge you rock👍👍🙏

Awesome oh gosh yes I really do hope Vegas can eventually make adjustments for the 40 series 🙏

Wow I really appreciate those other video card options👍, I’ll definitely let my computer company know👍 again really grateful for your awesome help Todd-A0👍👍

Coool also going to double check the memory sticks with my desktop just in case I have some bad memory going on:(

Awesome thanks so much again for your help🙏

Please open a support ticket at NVIDIA as well. They have VEGAS listed as a studio driver optimized app. Pushing on both sides makes it more likely the issues will be resolved.

Something I’m now noticing with 403: I have VEGAS Pro Dock on a separate monitor as in the picture. I can freely switch between the different tabs but only until I open and close the color grading panel, then once I select the explorer tab it gets stuck on it and I can no longer select the others. I can get out of this if I maximise one of the other tabs and then restore down again but it’s a little annoying to have to do this now.

Also, I’ve just started getting the odd crash, something I haven’t experienced at all since upgrading to V20, but then that could be something to do with me having to enable virtualisation in my bios to fix recent Windows Security issues, I don’t know, I don’t know enough about computers. It was running perfect, shame I couldn’t just freeze it in time 😕

@exyxnx what are you trying to render with? Voukoder crashes on Build 403 on mine whether doing h264 or h265, probably other formats as well, but @Vouk himself has tested it and it behaves for him.

I've noticed that too. I thought drag and drop was broken, until I found out where to click. It would be nice to have the previous behavior back.
