Overlays on this version no longer work on the video preview monitor.

Doesn't matter what you click, enable/disable, neither the grid nor the safe zones will display.

Anyone got any ideas?

NVIDIA driver problem? If so try changing this setting in control panel (add an entry for VEGAS Pro)

Custom PC (2022) Intel i5-13600K with UHD 770 iGPU with latest driver, MSI z690 Tomahawk motherboard, 64GB Corsair DDR5 5200 ram, NVIDIA 2080 Super (8GB) with latest studio driver, 2TB Hynix P41 SSD, Windows 11 Pro 64 bit

Dell XPS 15 laptop (2017) 32GB ram, NVIDIA 1050 (4GB) with latest studio driver, Intel i7-7700HQ with Intel 630 iGPU (latest available driver), dual internal SSD (1TB; 1TB), Windows 10 64 bit

VEGAS Pro 19.651
VEGAS Pro 20.411
VEGAS Pro 21.208

Try the
VEGAS 4K "sample project" benchmark (works with VP 16+): https://forms.gle/ypyrrbUghEiaf2aC7

Literally just bought Vegas Pro and apparently the issue I'm having where the video preview literally lags all the time when I do the smallest action and movement has been an issue since 19? Very cool. Please fix. Absolutely ridiculous that that even made it past testing.

It must be a common issue if I keep seeing people saying it is. It is a video game recording with my webcam and such. My specs are an RTX 3060, a Ryzen 7 5700x, 48Gb DDR4 RAM. I've literally done about as much as I can to get it to fix and it literally won't.

It isn't a general issue with VEGAS, it's a specific issue with media- if you recorded it with OBS we can help with better settings.

Otherwise just convert it for use in VEGAS. https://www.shutterencoder.com/ can do a great job with this.

Undo all the fixes you tried as well. (or reset if you can't remember them)

What do you mean "dragging the mouse"? What other editing software allows you to do what you are referring to?

As for the hot keys not working while holding down the left mouse button, I would think they wouldn't since the mouse is registered with the hot key. Like pressing other keys in addition to the hot key.

I mean this: https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/how-to-split-timeline-clips-with-a-hotkey-by-dragging-with-a-mouse--141224/#ca882448

Ding ding! We have a winner! This appears to fix it ..... Thank You!

RogerS wrote on 6/10/2023, 12:06 AM

Do I win a prize? Annoyingly NVIDIA claimed to have fixed it with the current driver release but it didn't work and we're still left doing workarounds.

OK, mostly I am a very happy camper, but right now not so happy. NO audio peak files get built after upgrading to build 403, can't remember if there was an upgrade inbetween, I haven't had files to import for some months. No, [shift][F5] does NOT force a rebuild.

Ah, thank you! - hmm ... must be a new one, google didn't know about this nor did the help file, search term "display audio peaks" did not lead to obviously usable result. Actually this is may be a good change, because it presumeably allows importing a lot of files and then to go drink coffee while peak caches are written, didn't check, but at least now I can navigate that 2h30 project again :)

I discovered that TikTok videos will very easily initiate the audio distortion bug that's plagued VP19/VP20, so if you Vegas devs are having trouble reproducing use TikTok videos. There is a small chance this is a different bug, but it does the same things, distortion will come and go, move to different parts, change in volume. Also video frames from another area of the timeline can appear where the distortion occurs (not seen here)

First play through exhibits a lot of distortion, playback 30 seconds later much less, showing the randomness of the problem
