VEGAS Pro 20 Build 403 General Thread

Users of Voukoder may find that build 403 crashes when you try to render. My machine does (but mine's ancient). Workaround is to use a different encoder. I've not tried poking at Voukoder's settings yet, but I have upgraded to the latest version and it's made no difference.

I've not found that. Are you using X264 or x265 or GPU encoding?
You have both the plugin and the connector installed for VP 20? https://www.voukoder.org/forum/thread/783-downloads-instructions/

If it's NVIDIA "For using NVENC (SDK 12) encoders driver version 522.25 or later is required."

I just upgraded Voukoder to 13.1 (while V20-403 was closed) and the main prog installed OK but the connector ended with an error about unable to complete with system running. However going into V20 it showed version 13.1 installed fine and there were no problems rendering 4K XAVCS file.

(Intel 3rd gen i5@4.1GHz, 32GB RAM, SSD, 1080Ti GPU, Windows 10) Not now used with Vegas.

13th gen i913900K - water cooled, 96GB RAM, 4TB M2 drive, 4TB games SSD, 2TB video SSD, GPU RTX 4080 Super, Windows 11 pro

*AHEM*

Dear peoples, I finally managed to get the Vegas Pro 20.0 403 exe by someone. You can actually get it, safely, from my personal Mediafire account:

I hope the moderation will not take that personally.

Thank you! Does one need to re-install the deep learning module?

No you don't as long as you didn't uninstall it.

Vegas is huge so, from time to time, new versions come out with "bugs" BUT, this time, the "bug" is the update process. I didn't try to open or update V20Pro (365) until AFTER the warning email of the 4th of May but, having now tried, it stops the opening process maybe at 60% to 70%? Worse is that NONE of the links to download the new "Build 403" version work for me, one even immediately fails generating a "File not downloaded - Potential security risk!" Nice . . not. So I have to now open the "Build 370" on my PC disconnected to the Internet and then stick the RJ45 plug in? Seriously? Ok, it's a "work around", but with the password for Vegas Hub needing to be typed in each time as it rejects copy & paste, this is a joke . . and I also keep getting reminders that I need the update! Looks like I'll be seeking an alternative for a while until this "bug" is eradicated.

I'm having issue with adding files directly from Windows Explorer. Drag&Drop on timeline is not possible. Have to use built in explorer. This happened also in 402 when I had to disconnect internet to open VP20

Also minor notice. Windows Task Bar doesn't show progress of rendering.

For drag and drop is VEGAS being run as an administrator? If so, right-click on the program file or shortcut, go to advanced, uncheck that and try again. I thought I had encountered the same issue years ago.

No. It's running normally.

@Silencer This has been an issue for the last few versions of VEGAS. It has been rather low on our priority list of things to fix, but we are aware of this.

Well, I just downloaded VP19 patch and it took 10 seconds...

I wonder what all those people who said they were leaving (and it seems they just got here looking at their post/message count) are doing now...

Just installed build 403. It crashes immediately after "Building Windows" appears on the splash screen. Now I have nothing useable. This is a disaster!

Edit: I just did a clean re-install with Vegas completely removed and now it is working. Whew!

I updated v.20 in order to fix the "can't boot with WIFI enabled" glitch and now I've got a new graphics glitch that has never happened with any other version of Vegas or the previous v.20 I was using. The preview screen will randomly display this for the .mp4 video I'm working on. I'm using a new PC specifically built for video editing with an NVIDIA 4080 graphics card, I just updated my NVIDIA Drivers to try to fix it (no help). Windows 10 Pro, 13th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-13900K, 64GB Ram.

I do have the graphics accelerator on in Vegas Pro, that's the whole point of having this high-end video editing PC. If there's any other info I can provide to troubleshoot this issue let me know.

Once that "blank/fuzzy screen" preview screen starts, I have to close the program and reboot; Sometimes changing preview screen quality, like from "good" to "preview" fixes it, but the quality of the preview screen setting does not seem to affect whether that "fuzzy screen of death" occurs of not. Please advise.

I am getting 100% complete system crashes (blackout to reboot - no BSOD) When I try rendering H264 10-Bit with Voukoder. I have tried tweaking about 10 settings and system crashes every time. I was able to get an nVenc render, but do not see a 10-bit option anywhere on there. I used MagicYUV for a 10 bit file but it is monstrous. I just need to pre-render some multi layered clips for use in a project so trying to keep at max quality for the project. I also tried rendering a normal clip and system also crashes.

Sounds like a power spike tripped the power supply or not enough voltage to the CPU? Try some stress tests for the CPU and system as it shouldn't just shut down under high CPU load.

What motherboard are you using?  Just a little hunch here.  I built a new PC in Oct 2022.  VP19 and VP20 were both having weird glitches that grew more and more apparent and then to the point that I could not even load VP19 or VP20 unless I reinstalled it.

After loads of troubleshooting I figured out this was caused by using “AsusSetup.exe” to install ANY driver for the motherboard.  After I did a clean Windows install, I manually installed the drivers with the .bat and .cmd files in the drivers folder, and everything worked perfectly.  Something is up with ASUS and how they install the drivers.  I can still replicate that issue to this day.

Yes my CPU is AMD, but again, this sounds quite familiar.

I reinstalled Vegas from the link received by email from Vegas, but when I launch the software it closes on its own after a few seconds. Impossible to use because of this.

@Rich Parry, I have HOS Build 1.0.3.24. When I first tried KwikPreview, I got the spinning blue circle, then the white screen of death, then silent crash to desktop.

Restarting Build 403, KwikPreview worked. Testing other aspects of it, also seem to be working.

Maybe @wwaag can comment on this?

I also tried by cutting the internet connection and setting the PC date to May 3, 2023, the problem persists.

The good news is that you have installed build 403 so the problem with the program closing on start doesn't happen here. No need to change date, turn off internet, etc.- that doesn't apply to you.

The bad news is you have a freeze and those errors don't tell me much.

@Rich Parry @Reyfox

For the most recent builds of Vegas 20, use of OtterMenu crashes Vegas due to improvements made by Magix in the way windows are docked. This problem has been fixed in the next build of HOS, 1.0.2.25, which will be released this weekend. Use of the toolbars, OtterBar or OtterInfoBar still work OK and IMHO are the preferred tools due to their flexibility and options to add additional scripts for easy launching.
