VEGAS Pro 21 Build 208 General Thread

I have updated to the latest build of Vegas pro 21 edit (208). the stabilisation effect is no longer there. I have tried options/preferences/deprecated features and have ticked stabilisation. I have restarted and the stabilisation effect is still not listed. How on earth can I stabilize footage in Vegas pro now?

By using Video Stabilization?

@Gordon-MacDonald

I typed in "stabil" in the search bar. This is the result. I do not have Legacy Stabilizer check marked in Deprecated Features.

@vegassteve I"ll reset, redownload, reinstall and also reset and reinstall Nvidia drivers as when Vegas crashes it changes aspect ratios to more like 4:3 which nobody is complaining about either and seems unique to my system.

Hello, I have installed build 208, and Vegas Pro doesn't work, no access to menus, functions, etc... only first screen is loaded but I can't do nothing. I have restored previous version of computer to have previous build of Vegas Pro (build 187).

Hello @Jessariah67, you wrote, that you could import MKV files without problem in an older version. Can you see, which import plugin is used in this case? To my knowledge, this format was totally disabled and should be unsupported. Maybe you have some kind of external plugin (Quicktime or something?). If so we could add a fall back for this. (right click on the event > properties > common (text tab) > Plug In Name)

It might be also the case, that some MKV files import quickly (if required information is present in file) and some very slow. If they are all from the same OBS source, this is however unlikely..

I meant build, not version. Sorry. This was all in VP21. And it seems to be importing again - it just decides it doesn't like some files, then you have to start transcoding...

Update VP21 - Build 208 - now can't drag media to timeline from Win 10 Desktop
VP21 Shortcut > properties > admin privileges = Checked
Can only open explorer in VP21 and there drag files to timeline

Be nice to drag midi files to the audio timeline to play as music too

Uncheck "run this program as administrator" on the compatibility tab.

Hi - File> Import > Media - works fine
Drag media from folders on desktop directly into Vegas Pro 21 was working before Build 208 update.

Unchecked "run this program as administrator" on the compatibility tab is unchecked - still can't drag media / mp4 videos - wav files - into timeline

RogerS wrote on 12/19/2023, 9:38 PM

Can you restart the computer and doublecheck the actual VEGAS program file (c:program files) is also unchecked? I see no difference with the update here.

Shut the PC off then restarted it = cold boot - can't drag mp4s or wav files into the Vegas Pro 21 timeline Build 208
(c:program files) - run this as admin - is unchecked as well as the desktop shortcut

Wait!!! Right click shortcut > properties > ADVANCED - Run as Admin is checked!!! Unchecking it now and seeing what happens - Success!!!!!!!!! Can now drag mp4 / wav from desktop into VP21 Build 208 Timeline.

Roger S - Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!! <SOLVED>

Desktop Shortcut > properties > Compatibility - Uncheck Run as Administrator
Desktop Shortcut > properties > Advanced - Uncheck Run as Administrator

Build 208 actually solved the issue I was having with Text to Speech. It looks like you are not running the correct version of Vegas.

The auto update never seems to work on my system. It downloads, says it will update, closes and then nothing. Next opening of V21 it asks if it should update and wants to download again. Any ideas what the problem could be?

Strange thing, Vegas build 208 starts fine and works fine (I think) but each time I close the program it not only closes but also creates an error report saying Vegas has crashed. It was the same with the previous build.

After updating, Vegas does not start. At all. Reinstalled. No . Does not work any more.

I see same behaviour.

My 6800M (G15 Strix AE) is now recognized on this new update but is basically doing nothing there, all workload are still under the much weaker Radeon integrated graphics instead of my dedicated graphics, unlike Vegas Pro 19 that put my 6800M is use all the time, the way I want it, please see what is going on with Vegas Pro 21.

After struggling for a long, long time trying to render and edit GoPro videos with Vegas Pro, starting with version 16. The crashes during editing and the freezes during rendering have ceased! It began with the version before 208 and I've actually tried to crash 208 and it takes whatever I throw at it.

Arik-Drori wrote on 1/1/2024, 9:30 AM

208 is a disaster. Sorry for being harsh but what would you call a full DAY wasted? its constantly crashing. I can open some projects, other crash on open most of the time but sometime open after open-crash-retry several times (How many times? Not sure. Cannot count to such a high number...) Crashing on open with no project. Crashing mid-work. AAAAAAAAAAAAArrrggggghhhhh!

@Arik-Drori What type of media are you using? Decoding is changing in VEGAS.

You can try a reset (hold control shift at startup) or uninstall and reinstall an older build.
