As said, I do not edit AV1 at all. For me, BRAW is more appropriate.

Vegas Hub doesnt work now in VP21-300..
I've logged out and in again, it seems happy with the login and the hub explorer works but when I try to open the Hub window it says ' Checking login state... ' then I'm stuck on this screen with fidgeting dots and the message 'An unhandled error has occurred. Return to Home '.
The Hub does still work on Vegas Pro 20. Ideas anyone?

My problem with build 300 so far only poor HEVC rendering performance. Instead of 6.3 fps in case of previous build now it is only 2.88 fps. I played with many setting and the result is the best I got. I have Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 card, rendering to 10 - bit 4K HEVC.

I started to having audio latency for any container like 167ms since i updated into Build 300 of VP21
when i opnened one of my wips, Audio got corrupted due to latency, making incorrect pitchs/timings or something

There any fixs towards this?

This was when i had build 208:

This problem started to occur on build 300:

Hi from a Vegas greenhorn.
I have a question about screen recordings. When I choose File > Screen Recording from the menu bar, I get a small black window (see image). It is listed as Vegas Capture in the task manager and can only be closed there. Vegas UI is still active. What am I doing wrong? Thanks for any reply.

Nothing. I get the same thing. Most use OBS to do screen recordings.

Hi.

Addition: After a test with a ProRes422 file from Lumix GH5 and also a BRAW file from my BMPCC4K, I can tell Vegas21 the ability to edit them. The image shows these unedited (color grading) clips on the timeline. So far no complaints from me.

I was able to fix the problem with a Vegas 21 program reset.

Vegas PRO... STILL cannot read ProRes MXF's from Adobe Madia Encoder and now with build 300 it also cannot read properly RAW files from Blackmagic cameras making video image very dark.

Can you share MediaInfo or better a link to the ProRes MXF? In general regular ProRes (mov) works fine here.

Braw files also seem to work fine- you may have to specify which ISO you intended in the VEGAS braw menu.

Just a niggle - when opening Audio FX boxes, they aren't opening full size, as version 208's did. I have to double click on their header everytime. Yes the 'resize' box is not ticked in options. Plus it's only the audio fx box and not the video fx boxes. I've had a few white screen/nothing happening, crashes when using imported 2560x1440 size files. Ironically, not when using the raw file material....

I purchased version 21 to see what the beta editing through text feature was all about.

I found it odd I had to login to the hub thing to access the feature.

Voice to text/transcript is a cloud based service? I disconnected my network cable while it was running and it stopped at its current percent finished. Reconnected and the percentage didn't change so I'm assuming it is server side and that situation isn't handled in the code.

Regardless, a ~20 minute piece of footage was taking a really long time to "process". Not super practical besides the privacy concerns if it is actually a server side process. I'm not talking about text to voice because I'd expect that to be server side. The AI voice thing isn't something I care about.

There isn't a practical way to do the editing through text feature on the client side? Speech to text and dictation has been a feature in PC programs for a really long time. There are probably a lot of open source options out there too.

I like the idea, so I might try to roll my own through the scripting system if Magix can't make it local. It's also odd they would offer this to perpetual users given there must be a cloud server cost to them with every request.

I'll try a smaller bit of footage to see how it works, though I think editing through text would most benefit with larger amounts of footage.

RogerS wrote on 4/14/2024, 12:37 AM

As far as I understand the transcription is still cloud-based as is text to speech (Microsoft Azure I believe). Once that's done isn't the rest client side?

Others did figure out how to integrate Open AI Whisper into VEGAS if you search this forum for it. Setup is complex, however.

But why should someone grade av1?

Even if I appreciate that you find something positiv!

av1 is an open-source royalty-free codec intended to be an alternative to hevc which is burdened by heavy patent royalties. Avc is also patent-burdened but the royalties are half that of hevc. But no av1 cameras yet or on the horizon. Barring a surprise, these seem to be the latest developments:

Loading last project is working fine for me with Build 300, also with Win 11 latest patches. I am also seeing that right click on audio meters does not bring up dialog box too.

@andyrpsmith and @Shadow, I can confirm the audio meter dialog box doesn't come up in B300 on my Win11 Pro computer. But, the last project does appear when I restart the software.

EDIT 3: It looks like I had used the experimental HEVC decoding option in version 19 (unchecked) and they modified the interface for version 21 (needs to be checked). I did this then re-rendered out the footage and it doesn't have issues.

Here's an example of the interface in 19 compared to 21:

https://twitter.com/PhotoBanzai/status/1780014722676367619/photo/1

I'm getting green frames cropping up while editing in 21. As far as I can tell it's not in the source material and haven't noticed it when bringing that video material into version 19 of the program.

EDIT 2: I rendered out a section with the green footage. It rendered out into the export so that pretty much makes version 21 unusable for me right now. There was a popping sound while editing but that didn't appear to be transferred to the output.

Example screencap on Twitter.

I'm using an ASUS Proart RTX 4060 8GB using driver 551.86.

In an old i7-6700 PC build with 32GB of RAM and multiple SSDs (primary editing drive is a Highpoint SSD7204 pci-e card with 4x1TB drives in RAID10).

Windows 10 Pro 22H2, OS build 19045.4170.

So far appears to happen at the leading or tail end of footage that's been clipped up. I'm editing one large single recording. I also applied a cross-fade programmatically with a script that I had written, but all that does is overlap selected clips on the timeline.

Vegas Hub is running, the download of stock media is working. So far so good.
But how does the "Insert on Timeline" button work? I have not been able to get it to work with drag and drop, clicking on the icon, marking a region as the destination, etc.
Or, since this "New feature available" only works with the latest Vegas update, is there another update for it, e.g. version 301?

Successfully logged in. But it does not work for me in the way shown. But it's only a minor inconvenience, I just have to download the file first and then move it to the time line.
Maybe it's because I have a perpetual version where the feature has just been activated.

I am having major trouble with this version of Vegas....version 21 build 300. I have the latest update to windows 11. When I am highlighting videos in the imported media window, Vegas locks up. Repeatedly. Its about unuseable it happens so often. The other issue is, once this is resolved: I would like to use it dual monitor...maybe have the preview screen on my other monitor. How do I do this?
