A few clarifications

And another confusion is that it's available to first-time purchasers, so it's not really an upgrade.

Thanks! I was confused about this too. I just bought it right now :).

Gary - can you please address the upgrade path for a CURRENT Vegas Pro 14 user to upgrade/move to Vegas Pro Suite 14?  The price difference to purchase one vs the other is $200 ($599 vs $799).

The only upgrade/move path currently available is upgrading one's old v13 license to Suite for $349.  This is obviously not desirable as it's almost double the cost.

This information was missing in your response a few posts back.

Can you please supply this information as requested?

It is the deal of the century for people who have not previously been Vegas users.

For existing Vegas users it's like having a Ferrari with all the trimmings, then Mercedes buys Ferrari and offers you a Ferrari-shaped Mercedes where nothing fits internally, but you get a T-Shirt you didn't need and you have to pay more than the people who never had a car in the first place.

+1 deadradiostar - well put...

I feel  as a previous user they should have given us a better deal, maybe upgrading the pro version for $249 should have got me to the next tier to be fair.

That is the price!

Upgradegate... How to turn existing users into exiting users... I'm disappointed there are no "Hitler Reacts" videos yet. Might be a good way to test out the new version.

That may be the price but I could have bought a second copy of 13 for less and it included a free version 14 upgrade.

Ah, I guess by "next tier" you mean Suite (or Pro if you had Edit), not V14. Misunderstanding. Apologies. Carry on.

Mmmm ... it would certainly be a good way to get banned from this forum.  I would not joke about this if I were you.

You've made quite a leap there. Those parodies are based on Der Untergang. The film and parodies are generally available worldwide including Germany. Anyway it was a flippant comment. Let's get back to the subject.

ushere wrote on 9/25/2016, 1:05 AM

@nick - the film was a work of art, and the various parodies can well be describle as art too. i have enjoyed many of them which, unfortunately, all too often reflect my own feelings of anger ;-)

It's strange how Magix have not jumped in on this thread, but again earlier in it we had a great comments about them wanting the new users not so bothered about the old,

We tend to moan, mainly down to the investment made in the software,

And it seems that this thread is bringing out that previous customers are getting a raw deal,

I'd like to see someone from the coding team come on here and give us a insider idea of what had to be fixed in 13 to merit a v14 and not V13.5,

Going back to Mercedes comments (very funny ) I don't need a tee shirt I need a qaulity jacket,

I so wanted to see a v14 that was a head, but instead we got stuff that's been around for years now being added and then I saw the up grade price ( coughed and said no way ) and this was all yesterday because I've had no emails to inform me of changes,

And as for new blue stuff, why keep adding it I've more issues with their software than anyone elses, god its buggy in every NLE,why not use Red Giant universe as it just works,

So Magix tell us what did merit a version upgrade and not just a update.

So funny and perfect compared!

Nothing to add. Just adding to the headcount of extremely disgruntled users. I've always upgraded (since version 6) whether or not I needed/wanted new features, simply to support ongoing development/maintenance of the product. Appreciate that money went to SCS, but that is part of the goodwill that Magix bought when the bought the Sony products.

JohnAsh wrote on 9/25/2016, 11:19 AM

I think my recollection is correct (age marches on and memory gets more vague) but I'm pretty sure I got a "nag" screen the other day when I opened my VP13 offering an upgrade to VP14 for $199. "Too much", was my instant reaction but did not have the time then to explore it more. Anyway, it never came back, I've had no offers for upgrade by Email and when I click on various links, I can find no upgrade path whatsoever.

Like others, I am very disgruntled having always updated to the latest version even though it was often poor value for me.

I have aleady downloaded a trial version of Premier Pro to see if I can go back to that as I can't see the new bunch at Magix caring much about me as an existing user.

Yes I had it pop up as well but I believe that is for Vegas Pro Edit

vkmast wrote on 9/25/2016, 12:17 PM

199 USD was Vegas Pro 14 Edit, 249 USD is Vegas Pro.

nick-h wrote on 9/25/2016, 12:39 PM

Toooooo much $$$ for 13.5 opps sorry 14

JohnAsh wrote on 9/25/2016, 3:17 PM

Aha! I happen to have VP12 installed on my laptop. I opened it to look at AC-3 Pro which, I was just reading, has been removed from VP14. And, voila, up popped the $199 "upgrade" nag screen (except it doesn't nag as it never opens again!). This time I clicked the link and got taken to page that told me it would cost me $249 for VP14 Pro whose main attributes, it would seem, are the removal of many features included in VP13. No thanks!

+1... user since 2004 with VMS & Vegas 5 and every Vegas version since & this will be the FIRST time that I won't be "upgrading".

So I assume we keep both Vegas 12 or 13 on the same computer as 14.

Technically, nobody will be upgrading because it's not an upgrade, it's a time-limited offer for existing users to re-purchase at a reduced price, but open to everyone, including those who haven't already paid for a license.

You, but beware there has been at least one report that the installation of 14 removed the AC3-Pro codec in previous versions.

Also, by testing the "Open in Sound Forge" function, I ran into the Sound Forge elevated privileges issue. But that might have happened anyway without VP14.
