I would like to know if there will be an upgraqde offer for those of us who own Sony Vegas Pro 13. (I have the SVP 13 Suite) As for now there is only a full price purchase option available. I would definately like to continue onboard Vegas Pro and move to v14 but not for the full price. Should I wait? How long?
"It is not up to you to discuss here the character of Gary Rebholz in a public forum. If you cannot accept that then it may happen that we will block you."
Yeah, understood Wolfgang.
And thanks for the heads up on wanting to block me from the forum.
The point is simple: we as moderators try to help, and we spend most of our time to do so. But we have also to ensure that the forum rules are respected.
Maybe you were not awar of the rule that even a public wellknown Magix employee should not be mentioned. And for sure he should not be blamed for a decision of the company.
Now you know that - and nothing has happend really.
Historically at SCS the upgrade price for Vegas Pro was 249.95 USD. The upgrade price for Vegas Pro 14 from MAGIX is also 249.95 USD. SCS historically did a release promo where customers could purchase at a reduced price, and also did some other promotions throughout the year with reduced prices. MAGIX also has a reduced price promo through net notify in Vegas, good until Sept 27. After this deadline, the upgrade price for Vegas Pro goes back to 249.95 USD.
But, how do I get the 249.95 USD upgrade price later on?
Choose "Vegas Pro" as the product you want to upgrade. Enter in a Vegas Pro serial when prompted. Choose "please click here to get a special upgrade offer" Arrive on Vegas Pro upgrade landing page with 249.95 price. A previous version Vegas Pro serial works to get Vegas Pro Edit or Suite upgrades as well, at their respective historical upgrade prices. The other former SCS products can also be upgraded here, using the same procedure.
************ writes above: "MAGIX also has a reduced price promo through net notify in Vegas, good until Sept 27. After this deadline, the upgrade price for Vegas Pro goes back to 249.95 USD."
This is from my Net Notify offer: "Vegas Pro 14 - Regularly $599.95, Now $249.00, Offer valid until September 27, 2016". So it's 0.95 USD savings.
Yes, this still makes no sense, M********D. The upgrade price is $249.00 or $249.95. A 95 cent difference before and after Sept. 27. Do you see why people are confused? The user base is expecting, at a minimum, the $199 upgrade price, for Vegas Pro, for current V13 Vegas Pro users. (Same price as those who had V12 Vegas Pro, and paid Magix for V13 Vegas Pro and then are supposed to get V14 Vegas Pro for free.) See what I mean?

I find it difficult identifying who actually is a Magix employee so Magix needs to make that clear.
MAGIX employees have a black hexagon with an "M" next to their avatar like this:
Forum moderators (users who don't work for MAGIX) have a grey hexagon with an "M" like this:
I wish "Magix" and "Moderator" didn't both start with "M", as the occasional mistaken identity has so far not been fun.
Thanks, that's the first time I noticed the small M in bottom corner. Now I know what that means. Before I was going by the Magix_ prefix before a first name. I notice that names of employees are now starred out in posts making it more confusing knowing who the post is referring to. We obviously must be a scary lot to trigger that kind of response from Magix.
Spectralis, I don't think they're automatically starred out. I personally am only now following the Community rule that "publishing or mentioning the names of MAGIX employees in your posts is not permitted."

I noticed this in prairiedogpics post as well and assumed it was being done automatically. I don't understand the purpose of having a rule where certain names must be hidden. It's not like a forum name is identifiable in any meaningful way. Perhaps it's similar to those who don't want their photo taken in case it traps their soul? Or are these names so vulnerable/precious/important we dare not speak them? It seems a bizarre, unnecessary and potentially confusing rule.
Got to have my PluralEyes working like it should, so I can't justify going to v14 unless they give it to me. I still use Titler Pro 1, so I will have to go back and forth from v12 to v13.
I have active projects and I just don't want to boldly go where I don't really have to be right now.
I am a bit discouraged about v14 in wake of what I'm reading so far.
I am also very bummed about PluralEyes not working in VP14 .. Magix has extended the upgrade offer until Oct. 16, 2016 .. This gives some time to see what happens with PluralEyes.

Based on this post and this comment, I think it quite likely that the upgrade deal will be ongoing at https://support2.magix.com/customer/vegas/upgrade at the same prices after October 16th. Because of its URL, the purpose of the page at http://www.vegascreativesoftware.com/us/newsletter/special-offer/vegas-pro-14/ seems to be a landing page for people clicking on the offer in their upgrade offer email (if they've had one... I haven't). I think that date may partly have been extended from 27th September to 16th October because they haven't got all the upgrade offer emails out yet. I also think the main purpose of the end date on that offer is to get you to part with your cash quicker. Of course I might be wrong. I was totally wrong in predicting how much the upgrades would cost.
What if I want to lock-in the $250 upgrade price but don't want to install the program yet (because almost every new version of anything is buggy). This is a download-only deal. Will that work?
The email offer I received very clearly states Vegas Pro, talks about the features of Vegas Pro (e.g., proDAD Mercalli V4), and has $199 listed as the price. Nowhere in the email is there any mention of Vegas Edit. Clicking on the link(s) takes you to a web page that says "Vegas Pro Upgrade" with a price of $249. By the way, it also states the offer is valid until October 16.
What confuses me is that it apparently doesn't matter which version of Vegas 13 you have. I have the Suite, which was the most expensive, but the upgrade price is the same as for any Vegase 13 version. I distinctly remember that Sony had different upgrade prices depending on the version you had. I don't expect Magix to change the offer (although the original Pro price should have been honored), but it is kind of a bumpy honeymoon.
PS: The rule about not being able to refer to Magix posters, even in a nice way, is kind of bizarre.

Just my 2 cents - Magix should honor their offer.
I haven't seen the email because I haven't received one, but the Net Notify notification (sent from VP13) says "from $199.00" so perhaps the email does too.
I am aware that Edit is $199. But, as I stated, the email explicitly talks about Pro, including mentioning features that are not available in Edit, and states $199. It does not mention other versions (Edit, Studio) anywhere in the email. Yes, it does say From $199. "From" is in tiny light gray font. "$199" is in Big Bold Black font. "From" indicates that some option of Vegas Pro is available for $199. I don't know how else to interpret that.
Some option of "Vegas Pro" is available for $199. There are three options. "Vegas Pro Edit", "Vegas Pro" and "Vegas Pro Suite". They are all Vegas Pro. "Edit" subtracts some features and "Suite" adds some features.
the difference is in plugins and addons delivered.
And most likely in the future upgrade path to VP15. Once you have gone the route of buying "VP14Pro Edit" now, you will certainly have to pay a higher upgrade again if you want to go to VP15Pro (back where where you came from).
Or, by then you are seen as a newcommer and get a better offer than the loyal ones.😜
I'm sure MAGIX would tell you that VEGAS Pro Edit is a version of VEGAS Pro.
Again, we have to be very vigilant when it comes to Magix as their magic seems to be in choosing words that are open for interpretation or even misleading, intentionally or otherwise.
