Since upgrading to Windows11, Vegas 19 is slow to open

Derg wrote on 10/17/2021, 12:04 PM

Since upgrading to Windows11, Vegas 19 is slow to open. Not sure if uninstall, reinstall might help.

When launching Vegas nothing happens. When opening Task Manager, Vegas 19 can be found in Background Processes & when left mouse picking Vegas 19 will suddenly open.

After closing Vegas, Vegas will open normal later in the session. Once the PC has been restarted or completely shut down the non start reoccurs. None of my other software has a similar issue.

Just curious if others experienced this?

What build are you using?

(Intel 3rd gen i5@4.1GHz, 32GB RAM, SSD, 1080Ti GPU, Windows 10) Not now used with Vegas.

Vegas Pro 19 v381. Odd, the last several times I opened Vegas all opened okay. Maybe it's like going to the doctor & suddenly feeling no pain! 😉

It's odd. If I wait long enough Vegas will open. After that it opens fine. Just have a problem opening after boot PC. Tomorrow I'll try as administrator first.

Was build 381 fix before Windows 11 release? Vegas is the only software I have with this issue.

VEGAS Pro has not been tested for and does not officially support Windows 11. Reports by other users here say they have no problems with it, but again, it's not officially supported yet.

Here's the latest- Vegas 19 will not launch on first try. When opening the Task Manager (see image) VEGAS Pro can be found in Background Processes (there are two because I tried to launch twice). For whatever reason if VEGAS Pro is selected & End Task picked Vegas will launch & will continue to launch normal for the rest of the session.

I thought my antivirus may have something to do with this but shutting it down did not help.

If I set Vegas 19 to Run as Administrator the software opens consistently, no problems. That, for now, seems to be the solution.

Experienced the same thing with vp18 from time to time when I haven't run it for a few days. Win10 and Win11.

Fwiw, when I look in Win11 Settings: Windows Update, Insider's Program, Choose your settings... the only update channels are Dev, Beta, and Preview. I'm on Beta which says its the most stable. No Release channel yet.

Thanks, as of this morning Vegas 19 would not open even with set for Run as Administrator. End Task Vegas19 in Task Manager always works.

Vegas is great & I've used a version of the software since 2003. Love it, but, it's the only program that acts this way. Once it's open it's fine.

I could only start 1 instance of VP19, if I tried to start a 2nd instance it would sit as a 'Background Process' (in Task Manager). Also having problems when I start VP19 and nothing happens, only way to get it running is again to go via Task Manager, and look in 'Background Process' list and close down VP19. It`s running perfectly fine, but just a pain when trying to start.

Interesting to hear others have had issues, too.

I'm on Windows 11 v 21H2 (OS Build 22000.282) now & Vegas 19 seems to open okay now. No idea why Vegas 19 was the only software I had issues with. Glad it's working smoothly now!

I have the exact same issue after upgrading to Windows 11.

Once it opens up though it is very stable after I move the render threats number down to the same number of CPU cores I have.

I was referring to your install of Windows 11. I did the upgrade from Windows 10 & to 11 had early issues opening Vegas 19. No issues with any other software.

If you did a clean install with Windows 11 & had no issues with Vegas 19, maybe my upgrade route to Win 11 was the issue.

and

it does not show at all in the Task Manager!

I did download from Direct Download Links - VEGAS Pro 19: https://rdir.magix.net/?page=T2NI1XJR58JU

any help or ideas are welcome

I have rx 6800xt i9 10980xe and 64gb.

And I have the latest Win11 update and the Radeon Adrenalin driver.

Currently running Vp18.

Definitely this is not the problem...

VP19 does not start at all!

@M-Z you may need to contact VEGAS support, advice here. (Please include the relevant serial number listed in the order confirmation email you received from MAGIX.)

Note also (as stated above) that even VP 19 "does not officially support Windows 11 yet".

To all

Do you have "Fast Start Up" disabled in Windows 11?

I have found that enabling "Fast Start Up" solves this issue for me and I can re-create the problem by disabling it.

To check, go to

Settings
Type "Control Panel" in the search bar, enter control panel
Power Options
Choose what the power buttons do
Change settings that are currently unavailable
Turn on fast start up if not checked
Save changes and exit.

You may, of course have other issues causing this.
