VEGAS Pro 19 Update 4 (Build 550)

First impressions with this new update all seemed fine at first . Until I came to render a video. It definitely did not render as fast as the previous version about 25% slower at least. Also the render settings that I been using and work perfectly fine on the previous version now don’t. The rendered video quality for some reason is now pixely and blocky making it unusable. I hold my hands up and admit I am no expert. But it looks like I have to spend time to go back using trial and error to rediscover a setting that produce a quality video.

@Dav_Grove
Please create an own thread, where you describe your problems exactly, and also which media files you edit in the timeline --> Mediainfo
Other possible helpful information under B and C: https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/important-information-required-to-help-you--110457/

Your system environment, which are in your user profile under "About me", you should copy under the heading "Signature", then they can be seen by anyone who wants to help you, easier - right from here.

@marchwill, do you see the same problem when you hold the Shift key as you draw the envelope as you want it? In my opinion, this could also be a solution that might work for you.

@gary-rebholz I've done some more testing and I found out there's one additional step in order to reproduce the bug: the timeline has to be playing the video, otherwise it seems to work normally most of the time. Since I'm usually doing these adjustments on the go while playing the content, I missed this step. So this is mostly garanteed to happen if I hit play and draw a few envelopes with Shift. Sometimes it only happens after doing some editing work on the layer, such as cutting or moving an audio event.

I've been able to reproduce this on different machines with some colleagues. Also, here's an additional problem I hadn't noticed: when this happens, it also crashes the undo buffer. If you hit CTRL+Z after triggering this bug with the Shift + Clicks, we get that classic message:

An error has ocurred while processing the undo buffer. You should save your work immediately using a new project filename and restart VEGAS Pro.

An error ocurred reading the file. Make sure you have read access to the file/folder and that it is not corrupted.

Double clicking, as you suggested, seems to never cause the bug to happen. However, any interactions with Shift + Clicks seem to trigger it, including this drawing of the audio levels. For now this is a manageable issue, but I hope you guys can fix it it. I'm also available if you want me to do some more testing to figure this thing out, feel free to send me a message!

@gary-rebholz Hello, Gary! You should watch the first 10 minutes of this video, so then it will make sense to you:

The beauty of VEGAS, there's many different ways to go about doing anything. Download Voukoder, and render using it inside of VEGAS (it appears as a render format). You'll notice faster speeds and better quality results. Best thing is, it's free. There's also Render + that comes with happy otter scripts (tools4vegas.com), it uses the same tech to encode as voukoder does, but it also comes with a ton of other useful tools that make VEGAS easier to use/more powerful. Those of you having the 0kb render errors may also find a satisfactory resolution by doing this.

Strange thing but i have tested with FFMetrics a similar export with Voukoder and one with Vegas' Magix codec (both NVENC, both same bitrate and everything else) and my results clearly showed a better quality on Magix codec while Voukoder just renders almost 40% faster.

t3t4 wrote on 3/13/2022, 7:14 PM

I don't know who or what causes the problem, but it's nothing new and I am seriously tired of it persisting, so consistently, all of the every time!

Windows Scaling.

I can't be the only one, maybe I scale larger than most but it always goes off screen, text that should be there is buried under just anything that can and could stand on top of. I just lived it again while installing this new update. It Did NOT Scale at all! That's not windows, that's you guys! If I blow my stuff up 350% so that I can see it, I expect it to scale and do so perfectly at 4K. But Vegas fails, constantly in this regard.

Please advise, or just fix the issue please once and for all.

Cheers 🍻

Hi! I've just updated to Build 532 and I have an issue when I try to render a video with MAGIX/AVC codec.

I used the same video and same render profile and it was ok with previous version.

Now, the render generates a 0 octets video file. I tried with nvidia NV or Mainconcept AVC : Same result! Any idea ?

A few users have reported this already, and if I'm not mistaken, I think they have already identified the culprit and are working on fixing it. In the mean time, use Voukoder to do your renders. It's a free VEGAS plugin that does fast and fantastic quality renders.

@Ustik, thanks, it made perfect sense to me after @marchwill explained it in his first response, but it always helps to see how you guys are using the tools.

gary-rebholz wrote on 3/14/2022, 9:22 AM

@marchwill, thanks for the extra detail. I've passed that along to the dev team and they are actively investigating.

@walter-i.

When possible, can you and your team arrange for a video tutorial to be made showing how the new Speech to Text feature works?

Quite possible. I'm not sure when, but we've been talking about it. In the meantime, this document discusses it.

Green=GPU error. You might want to start a thread if you need help (if this keeps happening).

@Memo333 Hi, can you go to your icon at the top, click it - My Profile, & fill in your Signature with your Vegas version, Windows version & system specs, CPU, GPU, RAM etc. this will then show at the bottom of the comments & will help people help you 👍 (see mine & others at the bottom of comments)

Red = GPU error. Green is usually what users will see if they have legacy AVC or HEVC decoders enabled in the file i/o tab of settings, and they try to open 10 bit media files.

Thanks Frosty, that's right. Haven't seen either color in a while (happily).

Constant random crashes, increasingly frequent, now literally every 20 seconds , working with DJI Osmo

pocket 2 QHD files. Not funny.

How can I revert to the old build?

If you are bored, drink water, you will want to pee. -> Albert Einstein - my idol!

I am 42. I have been creating videos since 2009 (the date when my first daughter was born in). My first video software was Pinnacle, next one was Sony Vegas 8 (I am not sure if remember it correctly). I am also a developer and wedding movie operator and editor. For example: I have created an Android app which let me control Vegas Pro rendering progress level on Android smartphone. I created it for fun, because I also love programming. I also created my own plugin for Audio To Text feature specified usage from Vegas Pro 19. I created proxy creation plugin which uses multiple GPU threads (maximum 3) to create proxy files for Vegas Pro. I also written many others plugin/softwares which enhance my video editing, also wedding editing.

Camera/video camera: Sony FX3, Sony A7 III, Sony FDR AX 100, Canon 5D Mark III, GoPro Hero Black 7,8,9,10

Lenses for Canon: Canon EF 24-70 mm F/2.8 L USM, Canon 70-200 f/2.8 L

Drone: DJI Mavic 3 & DJI Phantom 4 Pro v2.0

Editing: Vegas Pro 20 (365) with a lot of third party plugins, also my own plugins written in C#
