Remove and reseat your RAM. This is the most common reason in my experience. Make sure there is a stick inserted in the first slot (0 or 1), and don't mix RAM with other brands; iow, don't add to your stock RAM, replace it instead.

Hmmm...... interesting thoughts. It is a newly built powerhouse PC.. Doing DAW stuff with it all the time with stupidly low latency recordings and mixing with no issues. The video in question was started in Vegas 12 and have not touched it in years. For Grins and Giggles i have reopened the project in V12 and its rendering fine now. So far i am 5 minutes into this and ZERO beeping. Its got 20 minutes to go.

Not sure if its V18 not liking my system or what. I must admit, my time with V18 has been a rocky one.

I am rendering right now with the V12 "Internet HD 1080p" render setting and no beeps. In V18 it took less than a minute of rendering for it to start beeping.

Render of exact same video in Vegas 12 took 27 minutes and resulted in no beeps or farts from my computer.

Its rendered Vegas videos for me for several years now. Why would it not get along with V18 when i just successfully rendered the same video in V12?

I am so confused.

I am not gonna spend money on a new card just so V18 will play nice with it. My computer's main goal in life (besides world domination via Skynet) is for my DAW and Audio recording. The video card has worked flawless in this application on two different builds.

Welp, then it looks like i will be sticking with V12 then for my video needs. I'm not doing any real video production. Just capturing, editing and rendering out home video from VHS, Hi 8 to Digital captures. So far, V12 does a fine job.

@Denicio Unless i'm missing something in my search, your graphics card is 1GB 😮 but your CPU is 12core, sorry but that is def the lowest card i've seen for a long long time, a lot of software is now focusing on using the graphics card for doing the work.

Changing that graphics card might not fix the squeak but as Musicvid says that's a weak link, you've got a good CPU it deserves a good GPU so is really needing an upgrade

@Denicio Hi, just thought i'd share this, Ram Memory - I have 5 tabs in Google open which takes a bit, but when rendering, playing or at idle it doesn't change much, so your Vengeance LPX 32GB (2x16GB) should be fine.

this is my pc at idle, a few windows open, nothing playing the memory is 13%

While playing - the CPU at the top is doing very little, the GPU is doing the work, the memory has only gone up to 14%

& when rendering the CPU is doing some work but the majority is done by the GPU, the memory has again only gone up to 15%

I hope this gives a very rough idea how important a half decent GPU is. 👍

PS I don't know if this is relatable to VP12 🤷‍♂️

Wow, thanks for this detailed and thoughtful reply. It does give me a LOT to think about. Here is my dilemma. I am doing no real video stuff anymore. All i need is a working editor that will help me archive my 100+ family videos. If i were looking to do more serious video stuff i would not bat an eye at buying a new video card. I cant see spending 200-300 bux on a video card JUST so i can get Vegas 18 working. Right now i pretty much have a working solution by using V12. Its stable, its got a work flow i am familiar with. Am i wrong?

@Denicio 👍 Hi, I'm really not up with the details but you've got M.2 drives, you've a 12 core CPU & 32GB RAM, a more modern GPU would be like buying a decent new computer, a GTX 1650 here (England) can be bought for £250, i think that's a small price to pay for what you get, that will bring your pc up to the 21 century, you'll be able to use V18 or V19, it'll improve your pc a lot, from working at 10% up to 80-90%, i don't know how different V12 is to V18 but of course, like you say it works as it now, why fix what ain't broke,

I don't understand why whoever put it together put that card in? GTX 650? have you got that right, can you share a pic of Preferences showing the GPU or a pic of Taskmanager - GPU like i showed above, that pc you've got is close to the 'beast of a system', only prob is your beast has a gammy leg 😂 ?

I have a good pal who lives in Liverpool (England) that helps me spec out my workstations mainly for Audio production. He never once saw the video card as an issue as it relates to audio recording. So, i've just kept this 650 as its just worked and been reliable (and its paid for). It seems to only have reared its head during these Vegas renders in V18. Yeah, its not super expensive to fix this. And i am not totally against doing it. Just want to make sure i dont add something that brings MORE heat to my system and requires more fans. Remember, this system is built for Audio and it sets next to me, quietly, in my recording studio. I do realize i do have a cutting edge system with an older video card.

When troubleshooting audio PC problems graphics cards and WiFi adapters are always the main culprits.

For low latency audio work nvidia drivers can often cause problems. I understand why @Denicio is a bit reluctant to experiment with his system if it works right now.

@Denicio Fair enough, I'm from the right side of the Pennines Leeds so not far away, I built a studio for a musician & understand the noise issue, the desk that housed his pc had to be lined with sound insulation but still allow ventilation, my pc sits next to me on the desk, it has 3 fans in the CPU cooler at the top of the case & another 3 in the case, the GPU has 2 or 3 fans & the pcie raid card has a little 1 too, i can hear it, it's pretty quiet, but my microphone pics up the hum if it's too close, Maybe one day & maybe the prices will drop or you'll find a good deal 👍👍

Well, i'd consider buying now if i knew the new card was as quiet as what i have now, if not more quiet. It would also have to play nice with my high end audio converters (RME).

Considering that V12 works and does what i need it to do i may just hang tight till i am FORCED to upgrade. Make sense?

Oh, two of my best pals live in the Liverpool 'area'. One in Frodsham and the other in Runcorn. Visited twice and absolutely fell in love with the area. One of my trips i was treated to a Bed & Breakfast in the Lake District (heaven on earth). There i got to live out my 'Supertramp' bucket list item. I had kippers for breakfast.

One fundamental, nagging question is what process is generating the beeps?  It seems to be coming from the motherboard piezo speaker, not the desktop speakers, so it feels like a BIOS or system issue.  Maybe an overheating alarm?  Some other system alarm? Memory faults?

Is this a motherboard that has a small two or three digit display to signal faults?  (Maybe only old ones did that.)

Even if running on a below-spec video card, what process or driver or system monitor would signal a problem via the motherboard beeper?  (And I pose all of these as questions because I don't have any idea myself...)

Indeed all great questions. BUT...once i ran the exact same render on V12 with Zero issues i knew the problem was related to V18 for what ever reason. As others have pointed out here, my video card is not compatible with V18.

I've decided V12 'aint broke' for my needs so its where i will stay. Its solid, it works, it does not send my computer screaming and it gets the job done.
