Split Screen

Robert-Costo schrieb am 07.02.2019 um 20:04 Uhr

I have Movie Studio 15 Platinum and I go into Event PanCrop to do Split Screen.

I Turn Off Pad Lock and Lock Aspact Ratio.

I Turn Off Size About Center and set the Movement Tab to X Postion only.

I then Turn Off Stratch to Fill Screen.

I then Overlap my Videos and Drag the Video on top to the Right to show the Half of the Video under it.

It all looks goob but one thing does not come out Right at all.

The Color of the Video that I Drag to the Right and the Color of the Video Under it are Two Different Shades.

The Video on Top is a Little Different in Shade it is hard to say what I mean.

You can tell they are two Different Videos because the Color is Different on Both?

I did this all the Time in Movie Studio 8. and it came out Great but do I have to do one more step in Movie Studio 15 Platinum?

That sounds logic to me as the two video are different, but if if both are of the same videoshoot make it all clear by showing us through the upload function a screenshot of your preview while seeing the two events on it?

This is what I did.

I take Video of my Bed in my Bedroom with out me in the Shot.

Then I take Video of me next to the Bed with my Hand coming out from under the Pillow.

So then I put the Shot of just the Bed without me in front of the Video of my Hand under the Pillow.

So both Videos are of the same Bed the same Room and the same Lighting and everything.

But when I over Lap the Video the of me not in the Shot and Drag it to the Right you can see I have two Videos going on here.

One Video is always a Little Lighter then the other.

I should say this.

What if I want to make it look like I am Talking to myself a Clone.

I Take Video of me at One part of the Room and another Video of me at another part of the Room.

Now when I go to Over Lap the Top Video on to my Bottom Video and Drag the Side of the Top Video in show the Video of me will show this works.

But you can see a Line down the Middle of the screen from where I Drag it.

I see Videos of how to do this called Cropping.

And they have you Draw a Mask down the Middle of the Screen to let the other Video show through.

I never did this in Movie Studio 8.

I just would take a Video of me Talking to myself and the move to another part of the Room Talking and overlap them.

Then Drag the Top Video in.

What should I be doing and what is the best way to do something like this?

Please give me a Link to a YouTube Video with someone talking about this?

Use the Mask checkbox in Pan/Crop and you will have a happier experience.

Or set up a greenscreen soundstage.

Robert-Costo schrieb am 08.02.2019 um 04:54 Uhr

I go into Event PanCrop and I look on the Left Hand Side but I see no Mask Tool.

Is the Mask in another Part?

You have Movie Studio (Platinum), not Vegas Pro.

Are you sure, did you switch off the automatic gain control of your camera? The bedroom with or without you give definitely different lightning conditions which I can imagine that your camera detects and reacts accordingly.

For example, you wear dark clothes, the camera detects this and changes the gain with the result that background becomes lighter.

Also switch off auto colour balance as this can cause variations.

Another thought - add Cookie Cutter FX to the top video to cut out the area you want instead of using PanCrop. You can blur the edges if you have problems with a line showing.

Robert-Costo schrieb am 09.02.2019 um 00:11 Uhr

Ok I will try these things.

But where do I find Color Balance so I can Turn it Off?

EricLNZ schrieb am 09.02.2019 um 02:56 Uhr

But where do I find Color Balance so I can Turn it Off?

It's probably called White Balance not Colour Balance. Sorry, my error. Look in your camera's settings. Refer to your camera user manual if you cannot find it. If you take it off automatic you will have to decide on which alternative setting to use.

Robert-Costo schrieb am 09.02.2019 um 04:20 Uhr

I am sorry I thought you wanted me to Turn Off White Balance in Movie Studio.

Ok I will try the Mask Tool to Cut out Half of the Video in the Front.

I will see how this works and get back to you.

Robert-Costo schrieb am 09.02.2019 um 04:29 Uhr

Ok here is the Video that I want to do

He says to go into the Event PanCrop of the Top Video and I do.

But I see no Ancher Tool or no Mask Tool.

So how can I Cut out what I need to?

Is this not in Event PanCrop?

Chief24 schrieb am 09.02.2019 um 04:55 Uhr

Unfortunately, you can't, as shown in the video. He is using the "Pro" version of Vegas 15; you only have Movie Studio. Your version does not support what Mr. Halford is doing. But, you do have the "Picture-in-Picture" track on by default (unless you have "saved" your "Untitled" opening layout profile without one), and with some of the other creative FX plug-ins, sure you can probably make a go at it.

But, you can go out to Mr. Halford's YouTube channel and see if he has any Movie Studio tutorials about doing this, or even check out the Casual Savage YouTube channel, who has done some collaborations with Mr. Halford previously, and also does numerous Vegas Pro/Movie Studio Tutorials.

Thank you for all the help.

I did Try the Crop Tool in the FX Tab.

And I did Crop Out the Left Half of the Screen and this worked.

And I did not see any Line going down the Middle of the Video.

But as it get a little Past the Middle of the Screen and gete closser to the Bottom I see a Line.

So I am getting closser?

If I use Picture In Picture like you say I know I can lay one Video on top of the other.

But how do I get Rid of the Right Half of the Top Video?

Robert-Costo schrieb am 09.02.2019 um 05:37 Uhr

Ok I have a little more Info that may help you help me.

I can use the Crop Tool in the FX Tab to Crop the Left or Right side of the Top Video out and it works.

And now I do not see a Line down the Wall but half way after the Bed and to the Floow.

So I look real good at what is going on and this is it.

The Top Video the one that I will be Cropping the Left Side out.

This Video is a little Brighter then the Video inback of it.

It is just a little liter but you can see it.

And this is all from one take the same Room and the same Light.

So what can be doing this?

EricLNZ schrieb am 09.02.2019 um 09:18 Uhr

Use a video FX to either lighten or darken one clip to match the other. Try Levels, or Color Curves, or Brightness and Contrast.

Robert-Costo schrieb am 09.02.2019 um 19:39 Uhr

Well I do Drag the Top Video a lot more over the Bottom Video just to see where the color starts to go.

And all of the Top Video is Darker then the Bottom Video.

I do not understand how this is happening.

I thought Movie Studio 15 was doing this?

EricLNZ schrieb am 09.02.2019 um 23:17 Uhr

How much darker? Show us a screenshot of the problem and check that you haven't accidentally dragged down the opacity of one of the shots.
