ALERT: VegasCreativeSoftware.info maintenance and update

VEGASDerek wrote on 10/3/2022, 11:21 AM

Dear users,

We want to alert you to major maintenance and updates to the forums and customer service portal coming in the near future. The major change associated with this work is a much improved experience for users who need to contact our support team.

The maintenance period will be:

  • Start: Monday, October 10, 2022 at 11am CDT
  • End: Monday, October 17, 2022 at 11am CDT

During this period, unfortunately there will be times you will not be able to create a ticket with technical support. Outages may occur from time to time on this forum as well. Our moderators will be available to help with any support issues and the VEGAS team will monitor these forums to help as much as possible during this time. We will also work to have chat support open as much as possible during this period.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact us.

Best regards
The VEGAS Creative Software team

It's great that the update forum now has sub-categories for Vegas Effects and Vegas Image and that VMS is highlighted as being for version 17 and earlier.

And swapping between categories now is much quicker without the lag or misdirection to a comment that used to often occur. But I've noticed that the information about the original post no longer refers to the creator of the post but rather to the person who made the last comment:

I tried to upload a .jpg image to show what I mean, but uploading does not seem to work even on an empty new comment.

Yes I noticed that and it was confusing at first. Personally I consider it should be how it used to be namely showing the original poster and date.

Uploading still appears to be not working.

I agree that the "Created on xx/xx/xxxx by xxx" information should still be shown under the post title if possible. The "Last commented..." info is already on the right.

VEGASDerek wrote on 10/14/2022, 7:35 AM

They are still doing some updates right now. The team doing this work is aware of both the upload issues and the created by/comment field issue under the thread titles. Hopefully they will fix these issues in the next couple days.

@VEGASDerek
A cautious question:
Will there be a feature in this update to direct you to the first post since your last entry when you join?

walter-i. wrote on 10/15/2022, 3:58 AM

Now, outside the post, users cannot see the creator of the post. This is a backward step.

@lan-mLMC
Have you read the whole thread?
This has already been covered by Dexcon, NickHope and VegasDerek.

I'll be honest with you all, I am unaware of what any of the ultimate plans are for the forums or support site. The maintenance of these is handled by the Magix IT team. The VEGAS team can put in requests for changes, but what they are doing with these sites is really outside of our control. I do know that some of the concerns brought up have been passed on and some of these issues have been acknowledged by the IT team.

@VEGASDerek - Having worked in Local Government, this statement of yours scares me rigid. Reading between your lines, it would appear MAGIX doesn’t realise just what a resource our forums have become. It’s a resource that makes Vegas Pro the outstanding NLE it has become.

Howard-Vigorita wrote on 10/17/2022, 5:24 PM

Looks like the upload attempt goes through, displays briefly, but fails when the web server tries to save it to disk.

James-Lewis wrote on 10/17/2022, 6:59 PM

Would this maintenance prevent you from accessing text-to-speech because it tells me I need a 365 membership while I already have Post 2.0 and can't get it to work?

EricLNZ wrote on 10/17/2022, 8:15 PM

@James-Lewis My understanding is you need the 365 Subscription to have text-to-speech available.

@Grazie That's a little hard on Magix. When they set up this forum they went to great efforts (for which they should be congratulated) to bring over posts from the old Sony Creative Software forums. For example here's a 20 year old post from a much younger Grazie https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/i-would-like-to-use-the-mpeg-option--5702/#ca16751.

@EricLNZ - Ah, yes I remember it well. And yes, congratulations were in order. But now, we need to hear the ongoing love. Do read again @VEGASDerek’s comment which I quoted and re quote again here:

@EricLNZ - So, has MAGIX’s enthusiasm for our beloved Forums faded? Discuss….

@Grazie I've no idea but I get the impression no. Otherwise they wouldn't be in the process of improving the forums and simplifying the support system to make it easier for tickets to be created https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/support-system-upgrade--137601/

Also bear in mind Magix also have the Magix Community Forum which is a brother/sister forum to this one.

@EricLNZ - I don’t understand your point?

@EricLNZ - Which means what exactly?

vkmast wrote on 10/18/2022, 5:36 AM

It may be the MAGIX IT team and Marketing need to work mainly with their other channels (FB, IG, YT, Twitter, even TikTok). Luckily, the admins of this forum have been responsive while the forum updates have been infrequent.
