Hi @robyr1,

Unfortunately, like the support, I can't tell you more. We are working on this.

Still, we can't say anything about a timeframe when this will be implemented.

Best regards
Mathias

Thanks Mathias, for now it's enough to know that you are working on it...i don't want to leave Vegas for another software!

Likewise! 😊

In this pics the full screen checker preview is with res set 100%. The half screen one is set to 150% as per the

windows settings.

I have an issue since I installed Nvidia GTX 1080 from a GTX 760.

I have dual 4k monitors. The preview monitor will only show preview video in it's entirety if the display's

scale is set to 100%. If I use the display properties to have windows scale it up to 125% or 150% etc(to more easily read the tiny text and graphics), it will only display half or a third of the video preview in the window. Regardless of the project resolution settings.

Any one else having this issue? I have not tried an older version of Vegas yet.

I discovered earlier this year, that MP4 output from either my G85 or GH5 cameras, when placed in a project with at least one additional track, the track below would eventually go to black. This happens intermittently, as when I relaunch VP15, it would work normally. At least for a time that is, and then black. Does not matter which camera. It's always seems to be the lower track, when either normal tracks, or a multi camera track. Yes, I know about compositing modes, levels, solo, etc. Its none of these.

This isn't the same issue as with past versions of Vegas, where installing a codec, or reinstalling Quicktime would fix it once and for all. The same media works just fine in VP13 installed on the very same machine.

When I saw that a new build was out, I decided to give it a go. It seemed promising for a short time, and then, nope! Looks like I'm once again back to VP 13 to get the work done.

I assume this isn't just me, as VP 13 does not have this issue? I'm just using the standard 1080P 30 MP4 from the Panny cameras. Don't yet know if the issue is with other camera output. Oh, and creating a proxy doesn't fix it either.

@JoeAustin Make sure you're on build 261. Try disabling so4compoundplug. If that doesn't work, please let us know MediaInfo and Vegas file properties for a typical file.

Thanks Nick. Well, sure enough. That worked. Does indeed seem that the new plugin has issues with the 28mbps AVC out of the Panasonic camera. Thanks again.

All in all, the major flaw is:

The USER INTERFACE.

WHY did you have to meddle with it? The new channel fx/automation layout got me off way of my tracks, other than that the program is fine and working so far faster than any previous Vegas Pro versions.

BUT; because of the new UI, my workflow in video is just gone. It feels to me like the whole software has been intentionally handicapped when it comes to the previously adopted easiness and straight-forwardness of recording automation envelopes etc.

Sure, there are the exchangeable colors but F.F.S.! All the basic layouts had to be adjusted manually and then the whole UI color palette had to be reset from scratch to somewhat match even VP14. It should be right there on your new version installer to be given the overall option to import the look & feel of the previous version installation - if user chooses so - and as close as it is possible to recreate with the new version's UI.

Also, the new "Render as..."-selection window layout is just a mess. There doesn't seem to be an option to see which star has the "=" symbol in front of it ( = a project-matching render out -template), the only option is to switch altogether in the view mode, and choose to only show those render emplates that match ( = "Match project settings"). Why is this so?

And don't get me wrong. The new VP15 is fast to use otherwise, but the "renewed" UI just sucks, big time. I hope you do realize that by suddenly stashing away all the previously known functionality as for the track view, you're really doing a disservice to those who actually have bought and use the software professionally?

I have been a Vegas Pro closed beta tester for Sony back in the day, and been using the software starting from Sonic Foundry days, I would say that I have some clue of what I'm talking about, but there's just my customer feedback.

Thanks.

Not to mention using View > Window Layouts > Vegas 14 Default where they come checked and visible.

I dislike this too, and that "Filter On/Off" drop-down menu really should be moved so it doesn't cover the Templates list.

I also dislike the "loop region only" box being hidden. I always check it's status before a render, because I change it often, but now I have to click every time to see it.

Swap Video Proxy don't work in Vegas pro 15 Build 261

Marco. wrote on 12/25/2017, 1:05 PM

I think the proxy file must be exactly same name, only the file type can be different.

It works fine for me if the proxies are named same as source files but it doesn't work (like in your example) if there is a difference in the naming (just like in your case).

Thanks Marco. It was my mistake. I love Vegas!

I just ran into what is for me a new snag: When inserting an Empty Event to fill an empty space between two events within a single track I now get a stack of empty events piled up over all my tracks. If this is a new feature I can appreciate its usefulness in certain cases but then how does one insert just one empty event into just one space? I am doing this by right clicking into the empty space and selecting "Insert Empty Event".

Paul-Fierlinger wrote on 1/1/2018, 1:13 PM

That was it, thanks Cornico. I had previous to that selected Crtl-A to unlock all events and left the "All" on. At least this has taught me how to insert empties in all tracks if I'll ever have that need. :)

I've generally been pleased with VP15 so far, but just completed a 2min 45 sec video, shot in 4K. When I rendered it to 1080/25 fps (VBR) using the NVENC encoder there is always a point where one of the subtitles briefly disappears then re-appears. I deleted the subtitle and the video clip underneath it and replaced both, but it consistently happened on every render.

I switched to the Magix AVC 1080/25 encoder at a constant bit rate the problem was resolved.

Former user wrote on 1/6/2018, 6:00 AM

Don't use hardware rendering for anything but drafts. It's inferior. If you respect yourself and your work, use software encoding exclusively for any work others will see. It really is unfortunate that Magix are selling hardware encoding as this magical rendering method with no negatives while most other commercial video editors have to be hacked to use hardware rendering. They don't want the lack of quality it produces to be associated with their software.

A CPU encoder can analyse unpredictable & complex image data, A GPU can only deal with predictable & complex data. The high contrast subtitles could not be predicted. If they faded in & out it may have worked.

Don't have a Nvidia card, so I can't test that encoder. I can tell you that I've done some tests using 4K source footage with both the Mainconcept codec, and the Magix/Intel QSV for a one minute clip. Rendered to 1080P 30, the render time was more than double with the software codec. Rendering to 4K was 90 seconds on the QSV codec, and a pretty staggering 7:52 of render time. I think most would be hard pressed to notice any difference.
