VEGAS Pro 18 Update 1 (Build 334) - General Discussion

Bri-Hageman wrote on 9/21/2020, 10:00 AM

Dear Community,

We have just released the first update for VEGAS Pro 18. Please give us your feedback in this thread.

If you already have an earlier build of VEGAS Pro 18, VEGAS POST Suite or VEGAS Effects 2,  there is no need to uninstall it. This build will overwrite your installation and retain your settings. Keep in mind that your computer will need to be online for activation after the update.

For more information, please refer to our official announcement with patch notes.

I hope you have a great rest of your week.

Sincerely,

Bri

Thanks for all the fixes. I had a lot problems and crashes using the release and now almost all are gone. Good work💪👌
I have discovered only one small issue that does not be of importance for me, because I always use my own lay-out. Thats the word where it goes wrong during testing other lay-outs and going back.
Only if I let vanish the Main Timeline of the Storyboards Bin the problem of freezing all buttons at switching from and to Project Media seems to be gone.
Look what I mean:

I tried to import *.mov files - but I failed, though I had enabled the deprecated Quicktime plugin feature - did I miss anything?

Marco. wrote on 9/22/2020, 2:09 PM

Which video and audio codec is used in this particular MOV file?

And do you have Quicktime installed on your system?

This update appears to have caused a problem I wasn't having before. When I go to 'render as' it only registers 1% complete and then I get the message attached. If I go out of Vegas pro 18 and back in it then renders OK, which is weird. This wasn't ever happening before this update only started yesterday after i installed it and it has failed about 8 times from about 20 render attempts. Seems like a bug to me.

struggling with the updater.. tried now for the 5th time; unfortunately cannot work in VP during the lengthy update progress, and crashing VP takes down the updater as well. Not my most favourite way of deployment have to say. What's worse it doesn't resume from what's already been downloaded, and the download been throttled doesn't help (normally I'd have that package in a few minutes....)

Agreed. I accidentally closed VP18 when downloading 334 and killed the DL. So annoying. But to be fair, VP is not alone in forgetting the DL to date when something unfortunate happens to kill the DL. Please don't ask me to nominate the programs, but it happens often enough.

I'm on vacation and have no ability at the moment to experience this last build with a lot of bug fixes. But nevertheless I'm wondering why the release of Vpro18 was not postponed till September instead of August. Would probably have saved a lot of comments of unsatisfied and disappointed users here.

Great update VEGAS team. This one seemed to iron out many of my issues. But still have one issue with audio envelopes...

If I turn off audio envelopes then turn them back on, my envelope adjustments are deleted.

Anyone else notice this?

Yes, but we were able to provide feedback on the bugs and get these addressed in the recent update.

I don't think that "we" buy Vegas to act as Betatester.

It is still crashing with just a simple slide show of JPGs. VPro 17 would have no problem rending it.

Having the same issue. Cannot import MOV animation files with alpha ,exported from Adobe Media Encoder.

even after enabling deprecated quicktime plugin support from preferences tab, I get a warning to download the latest quicktime version from apple website. No need to say that this also happens after updating to the latest version of quicktime.

UPDATE - Solved :

uninstalled quicktime completely, reinstalled it again, restarted computer and everything is good again!

My first attempt to call up "Help" ended with a crash. Tested multiple times and reported to Vegas.
Am i alone there ????

Edit:
Now it works again. Before I had four crashes, in between even the computer rebooted.
funny......

In any case, many thanks @vkmast, @Dexcon, @j-v and @andyrpsmith for testing it!

I've come across this issue occasionally, not consistently.

There's no way for the QA team and beta testers to replicate the number of issues that can arise from the various CPU, GPU, OS version, GPU driver version, OS health, hardware health issues that can pop up across various platforms in the wild... especially when you have software like VEGAS that tries to work across a very wide variety of configurations (perhaps too wide...).

If you don't want to be a part of those who have to deal with a few issues when a program launches, wait for the first update or two before buying. There are always going to be some users that have issues that couldn't be replicated in the beta pool of machine configurations. Of course, open betas help here, but they also require resources that go beyond the ability for small teams to manage.

Hi, my name is Johnny. I have a big problem. I can't update the Vegas Pro 18. When I try, it say that "Installer is unable to update VEGAS Pro 18.0 while it is running". And I can't download from the direct link.

Hi @johnnyxw try using a different browser to download. (Check Task Manager to see that there are no VEGAS processes running.)

OTOH, you might want to wait for the next update anyway (promised soon) as the current update has been problematic for several users.

Hi dear @vkmast, I followed your steps and it worked, thanks a lot!
