Installation went fine. So far, doing a fairly simple UHD 4K 50P 4:2:0 video with using the color panel, Boris plugins, and Vegas titles, stability for me on my computer has been pretty rock solid. Edited 6 hours without a crash.

Kudos to the developers and beta testers! What an extensive list of fixes! Now... get that AMD/Vegas/Vegas Effects color swap fixed!

AV1 export went well with a quick test.

Installed and running using the direct downloads, thank you.

Sorry if this is a dumb question, does the Mocha Vegas (for users that have it), also need updating? If so, how? (I have tried registering MV from within the Mocha environment and the registration fails).

Thank you. P.

Improved performance and responsiveness of VST plugins when editing envelopes

Well I hope this is finally nailed.

I am still using Vegas 20 / build 370 because two way communication for the VST was unworkable.

In version 21 one way (host2VST) was fixed, but "the other way" (VST2host) still was slugish.

I will try it out this weekend and report back here.

Thanks for the massive bug fix list, anyhow!

I am normally one to advocate for new features as I've done so on this forum in the past, but I don't think anyone can argue that the amount of things fixed in this update is anything but impressive. Thanks MAGIX for the QoL improvements!

I will, but I just use this thread to say "thank you for the update" as part of the "general thread".

Sorry if I do things wrong.

I created tons of topic reports for almost all the VST-issues, but every time other users says "I was making things up".

Just to clarify : I don't make things up, 100% of all my reported bugs are valid and reproducible.

Fixes are more important then new features.

I rather have a stable, solid and trustable workflow than one that crashes several times a day "because of the new features".

I noticed a few of the VSTs that crashed or displayed improperly with build 108 (cut off and unusable) are now working acceptably. There's still a lag toggling between them as they are redrawn but it's going in a very good direction.

The adjustment event fix when used with Fx that move pixels around makes it much more useful for me!

@Phil_P I didn't need to do anything with Mocha VEGAS to continue using it.

Thanks Roger, yes, Mocha is working fine, apart from the registration part crashing, (I have written to Boris about it). I was only wondering if there was an update for it.

I thought I had read somewhere that the Vegas update was being held off until some update of Mocha was released. I was probably imagining it. :-) Not to worry.

Vegas Hub still doesn't work for me. Every other window works except for Vegas Content, and it closes immediately and doesn't come back. I have to use Vegas 20 to download footage. No idea what's causing the difference.

BiswasArt wrote on 11/8/2023, 9:58 AM

It seems they finally replaced the legacy mkv reader and now it supports hevc in mkv format... this is a big update for me. I hope the whole app is stable now. Vegas 20 was the most reliable for me but upgrading to 21 got me into a lot of crashes. Also the vegas effects started to crash regularly but it finally looks stable now after the update.

Installation all smooth. Wasn't prompted to update the DLM but downloaded and did it anyway. Do my eyes deceive me, or is this a huge step forward with playback of HEVC (h.265) files? I work with 4k Sony A7siii 60fps 10 bit files. Previously timeline would wait a second before playing with stutters, so proxies were essential. But now, timeline playback is OK. Will likely still use proxies, but even for grading this is a joyous step forward.
Something odd going on with Happy Otter generated proxies, but I'll post that in the approriate place.
Thank you!

This includes some very early stages of the new video engine and GPU support. Much more to come in the future.

I have problems transferring bezier motion tracking data to another event. Just crashes. But the Smart Mask seems to work better. Went back to prior version since I need bezier to work. I'm not going to try to figure out what is going wrong, especially after my awful experience with Topaz.

This is what?

It used to be Legacy. Now experimental. Please explain.

bitman wrote on 11/8/2023, 11:50 AM

@pierre-k Good question, I presume this is part of the rewrite/improve/overhaul process of the video engine the developers are working on, but not quite finished, nor confident (say beta). But you do not have to take my word on that - I know nothing, I am from Barcelona - as spoken in a legendary British's comedy series (although I am from Belgium). Best one of the team answers your question.

You presume correctly. Step one of the new video engine...

This includes some very early stages of the new video engine and GPU support. Much more to come in the future.

VEGAS Pro is maturing into a fast, modern, reliable, rock solid video editing platform. It's an exciting time to be a VEGAS owner, and I'm hyped for the future.

@Phil_P The "dlm" download managers are still offering Mocha VEGAS 9.5.8.20, which is the same version as when VP21 build 108 was released, which implies that there is no update available yet.
