Features list says

  • Mocha Pro integration, matching Mocha VEGAS behavior

Are we awaiting a new version of Mocha Pro ofx for this? I can't see any difference for now.

@MikeS I saw a Mocha employee comment here confirming your assumption.

Note that this is pending the release of Mocha Pro v10.0.5 which will contain the compatibility changes.

Yes, this is the post I was referring to here:

  • Improved performance and responsiveness of VST plugins when editing envelopes.

Can confirm this bug is not solved.

It is still impossible to use dynamic / animated enveloppes for VST (2/3) plugins.

Communication from plugin to host was tearing since V21 and that is solved in the previous build.

But communication from host to plugin is unworkable slow, the cursor is sluggish / slow / tearing immense.

So I still have to work with Vegas 20 / build 370, the only version that does not have this extreme annoying bug, making audio-editing almost impossible in the new versions.

These two issues with Waves plugins are still not resolved.

Last one neither.

Hi all,

I updated Vegas Pro Suite 21 to Build 187 this morning and now I cannot get it to work. It keeps crashing every time I load a project. I even re-booted the PC, opened a new project and started again but eventually it crashed (froze).

I tried to record this happening with Camtasia but as soon as I started to load Vegas Pro, Camtasia crashed as well. I tested Camtasia WITHOUT Vegas but opened and worked in Photoshop, Lightroom Vegas Effects and all worked fine, whilst being recorded, for 5 minutes or more.

Then I tried recording Vegas with Camtasia again and both programs crashed. It is definitely Vegas causing the issue as this only started right after I updated. Is there any way I can roll back to the previous version I was using with no problems this morning? I have a wedding I am trying to edit and I have been trying to deal with this for 3 hours.

PC Specs:

  • Windows 11 Pro 64-bit
  • 128gb RAM
  • NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060
  • Intel i9 12900KF

Any help would be gratefully received as I need to get this wedding done.

Cheers,

Nick

It keeps crashing on me too. Every few minutes. I think it is to do with the slow motion FX but I can't be sure. I have sent about 20 error reports, so hopefully they are lighting up a helpdesk somewhere.

50h9j wrote on 11/12/2023, 6:00 PM

Can I confirm, since the slow motion FX has been improved in the latest build, if I go back a build, will the slow motion FX I have created still work?

@VEGASPascal I am quite sure the intel 12th gen's Thread Director is causing the issue here....opening a heavy process like vegas on top of Camtasia transfers the whole of the camtasia processes to run on the the slower efficient core on your 12th gen intel. You can however fix this by going to task manager and go to the Details tab, find camtasia, right-click on it, go to set affinity and select only about 8 cores from the top depending on how many performance cores you have....or if you want vegas performance not to be impacted by recording then you can only select efficient cores only. For a permanent solution i used this tutorial https://www.tenforums.com/performance-maintenance/144736-how-permanently-set-cpu-affinity-programs.html

another easy fix would be to change power mode to high performance which will prevent windows offloading the processes to efficient cores.

I must say intel introduced a crippled cpu with the 12th gen and they have already dismissed any kind of support on it since they introduced the 13th gen. I have a 12500h cpu and sometimes it is a nightmare with less-optimized apps and games.

Edit: mistagged @Freefly I hope this works for you

Thanks BiswasArt, however, I made a typo in my original post. I'm actually using the i9-13900KF. Does that make a difference to your reply and suggestion? Thanks again, really appreciate it 👍

Howard-Vigorita wrote on 11/18/2023, 12:28 PM

@Freefly Disabling Windows ability to assign Vegas threads to e-cores might help. But might be a mixed bag if it causes more thermal throttling or constricts Vegas thread-counts. Suggest you try it and see. If you mess with process elevation, I advise against forcing Vegas to the highest setting... that's where Windows and drivers run. If Vegas ran there too, it would make a Vegas hang immune from interception. That would mean that if Vegas locked up, the only way to get out of it would be to power down or hit the reset button. I used to set older versions of Vegas to High (one step above Normal) but that stopped improving matters when vp18 came out... I think Vegas got better in setting it's own priorities so I stopped messing with it. You could try adding the Vegas app to Windows settings for System/Display/Graphics. But since the i9-13900KF has no igpu, the choice for High Performance and Economy gpu would be the same for you. I see that article seems to think choosing differently there affects process assignment but I've never seen evidence of that on my desktops. But never tried it with 12th gen or later... so again, try it and see.

Hi, I have a Rog G15 Strix Advantage Edition laptop, in the previous version of Vegas Pro 21 I was able to pick up my 6800M dedicated GPU for preview and rendering, in this new version I can no longer choose anything other than the weaker integraded Radeon graphics, Can Vegas team please solve this please as previous version was a lot faster than what it is now, preview playback and rendering, specially rendering is much affected by this.

Thanks!

Has anybody noticed this with Smart Mask? If the track is moved it seems to get confused. The blue outline is in the centre of the project frame and the actual masked area is squashed.

And when I click Correct Mask it literally makes a good mask worse and doesn't fix a bad mask.

Great to know everyone's update went smooth...can't say the same for me. Not only did I get an error forcing a rollback during the update, but I can't even uninstall my software to start anew. Sent in my error logs to support, praying for miracle. Happy holidays peeps:)

RogerS wrote on 11/20/2023, 8:36 PM

What was the error? A tool like Revo uninstaller might be able to wipe out everything letting you try again.
