Applying double standards

I'm wondering that a post like this https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/the-version-of-the-vegas-kernel-is-too-old--136112/ where an Sony Vegas 17 user honestly says he can't afford Vegas, get's no support and that a post like this https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/custom-frame-size--136109/ where a Sony Vegas 19 user even uses Vegas to make profit get's all the support. This forum is applying double standards.

With the kernel problem it was quickly established pirating was involved.

With the custom frame size issue whilst "Sony" cropped up none of the regular helpers who responded appear to have suspected pirating. I suspect it's possibly a language problem. Vegas was "Sony" for years so even now, after several Magix years, we still get genuine users referring to it as "Sony".

@3POINT Thanks for the heads-up. Please see also this comment.

Point taken 3Point; however, to veteran contributors, some posts beg credibility despite small mistakes, while others simply do not, often from what is not being said. It's sometimes called the "smell test."

@3POINT Thanks for the heads-up. Please see also this comment.

This should be firstly asked to every new forum member of Sony Vegas 14-19, before starting support or not.

Even the volunteer forum moderators cannot be present 24/7, so the forum would need to have a feature to hold any first post in moderation (hidden), until it is approved. As you know, the forum development has not been very active for some time now.

Note the "Report" option, which is frequently used by several veteran contributors (also newer ones) to inform mods about posts/comments needing attention.

Usually for me, if/when I ask a questions and get dodgy, evasive answers, I bow out. But it would be nice to have a "verified user" (like with Amazon product reviews) in addition to the user name displayed when they create an account to have it linked to their registered Magix account.

But then there are people that point to where pirates might get help for their non-functioning illegal versions.

Also active forum members (and not only forum moderators) firstly can point Sony Vegas 14-19 users to this https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/sony-vegas-vs-vegas--119881/ before starting support.

"Vegas Pro 19-643 works with Custom Frame Sizes in ProRes XQ (except for the Sony part)."

In my case, on one of the threads, I was aware of how close to the edge I was and chose to proceed anyway. I have my personal filters on who I help and a valid license is only one of the possible filters.

Do I have to feed the cat and clean the cat box, too? After all, it's not my cat.

Some people even cannot distinguish between a cat and a rat...

It's just a marketing tradeoff: they opened up the forum to the masses as a presales portal in hopes of attracting more buyers, and volunteer moderators and legit owners were faced with the unsanctioned task of prequalifying the pool.

The solution is as simple as rolling back to a registered-owners-only forum (remember when?). Include a new open subforum for presales questions and newbie excesses, and let the rest of us work on in peace. Prescreening will take care of itself. Converting unlicensed users into paid buyers is highly overrated as a sales hook.

If your name is Schrodinger, you own the cat, and you never have to feed it or clean up after it.

That changed during 2013. See here (and here).

Re Schrödinger's cat, the "simple" version. (Previously appeared on the forum only in 2010 and 2006.)
