VEGAS Pro 22 Build 194 General Discussion

Is it possible to cut and save a video lossless with Vegas Pro like with LosslessCut or TMPGEnc MPEG Smart Renderer?

If yes: How?

If no: Why not? Want to suggest this feature.

Dexcon wrote on 11/29/2024, 3:47 PM

@DasFragezeichen  ... One of the Render As options is Video for Windows. Under its Customize Template window, you can custom set the frame size if the presets sizes don't suit, and the Video Format can be set to 'Uncompressed' which very much suggests lossless. This will result in an .avi file but the file size is huge.

Others have suggested that Apple ProRes is lossless, but others have described Apple ProRes as being 'virtually lossless' or 'visually lossless'.

Well, I'm talking about lossless saving, if the video only was cutted and nothing else. See LosslessCut or TMPGEnc MPEG Smart Renderer. Would be great to see this feature in a big video suite and not needed an extra software.

VEGAS does support this for some formats, but not all. It may be a limitation of the formats themselves preventing this... it does support it for MPEG2 and DV AVI though.

There's also a very low-cost lossless 3rd party plugin: MagicYUV. I transcoded a 2.3 gb lossless 4k hevc clip with both Vfw and MagicYUV and they came up identical in quality. But the Vegas built-in Vfw created a 19gb avi while MagicYUV was 5.3 gb at a very nominal price. If all you really want is a rewrap with splitting or trimming without re-sampling, just use free Shutter Encoder instead of Vegas.

Media from Blackmagic PYXIS 6K not loading

https://www.mediafire.com/file/ty754vo47l3dyt2/A005_10100600_C025.braw/file

Here it is also not possible to open this file. And I have a lot of 6K 50p BRAW footage here, from my own Pocket 6K Pro camera. Can be imported on my laptop without any issues.

Edit: also the installation of the latest Desktop Video software did not change anything for me. Test was done on my laptop.

@Wolfgang S. Check windows add/remove search for raw, remove all BlackMagic raw related installs. I found one from 2022 which looked to be the problem, removed that, reinstalled current BM Raw and Vegas loaded the file fine.

Wolfgang S. wrote on 12/1/2024, 1:07 AM

So you found a solution? Great. Ate you talking about applications/software, or where did you search?

And what exactly did you install again?

Good morning everyone, two days ago I purchased the Upgrade version of Vegas Pro 22, before it was just a curse against the 15 version of Vegas that crashed whenever it wanted and so I was forced to save every 5 minutes, if I had time. I would like to know if it is possible to tell the difference between the Upgrade version and a new license of Vegas Pro 22 and if I can uninstall version 15 without having problems, such as sharing the same files that allows version 22 to work correctly. Thank you very much and have a good day.

RogerS wrote on 12/1/2024, 6:46 AM

@Luigi-Guido The upgrade and new license of VP 22 are exactly the same program. You can just buy the upgrade as it's cheaper since you already own version 15. You can uninstall VP 15 and only use 22.

I would use 22 for a few days first and make sure everything is working as expected. If you save projects in 22 you can't reopen them in 15 so I'd make copies of your project files (.veg).

Luigi-Guido wrote on 12/1/2024, 6:51 AM

Thank you so much. I can tell you right now that VP22 is the best purchase I have ever made, in these two days of use I have used it to edit three movies taken from the gameplay of Syberia The World Before, edited and rendered without any crashes and, right now as I write to you it is rendering another video without any problems. So I am absolutely happy to have bought this new version. I am going to uninstall the 15 right away. Thank you so much.

Installing vegas pro 22 on latest windows 11 build is a nightmare (DLM 0% staying, no progress, install as admin gets halted) . Finally got it installed (downloading separate 194 build exe file 595 MB), and tried also 22 deep learning models 22.0.0.0 (found exe download 1,5 GB) installation -BUT it gets halted at "could not access network location (WIX_DIR_COMMON_DOCUMENTS) VEGAS_VEGAS_Pro_22_Dep_Learning_Models\.

HELP !!!

Jonny-Bhoy wrote on 12/3/2024, 8:10 AM

OK I've been using VP22 for a month or so and think it's OK, nothing to get excited about yet. But I regret the upgrade for a few reasons. Rendering with graphic card acceleration sucks, there's a memory leak going on that causes the render to grind to a halt. I have a decent spec PC with 64GB of RAM. The second issue is that 'customer support' is a joke. Like so bad becuase it is non-existent. almost a month and no useful help or update about this issue. This software is not fit for purpose in its current state, clearly the developer has learned nothing from previous 'upgrades' that took ages to get settled. Us paying suckers are just here to fork out the dough then act as guinea pigs.

The sync video clips using the audio doesn;t work. It just sits thinking about it then eventually you realise it's doing nothing. Back to Pluraleyes for me.

Seriously Magix, get your act together and get this working, I'm trying to work here and you're garbage update has caused me a month of grief.

Reyfox wrote on 12/3/2024, 8:48 AM

I've been using VP22 since it's release. It's worked for me quite well with my "decent spec PC" listed in my Signature. And if I have an issue, I would have started a new thread with specifics about issues I would be having, and would aswer questions asked by other people in the user forum in other threads.

But that's me if I were looking for help. Saying I have a decent spec PC means nothing. Specific hardware should be listed in the User Profile, just to start. Then answers for "B" and "C" from this POST and include that in you post.

But that is if someone actually wants to get help....

Hey boss, I don't see the direct download links under My Products- only the installer for the online install. The direct links should be there be default, but they're not.

*Edit*

So I notice I only have access to VP 21...Is there no upgrade path for current owners of VP 21?

If I have to pay 150-200.00 again for VP 22 I simply won't be doing it; I have Davinci Resolve Pro (free updates) so I'll just use that- and Fusion.

I think I have it sorted...so VP 22 is not available to download from My Products- only my VP 21 purchase. VP 22 links are offered under the initial announcement thread. I think I'm good, but again if not, I have anotheR option to fall back on. Thanks for your assistance.🙂

Automatic FX Window Resizing still broken in Vegas Pro 22 build 194 (for audio plugins). I just upgraded from 21 to 22 today. This was fixed back in an early version of either 20 or 21, but the last versions of 21 and now 22, no matter which way you click the checkbox under GENERAL settings, the audio FX window resizes each time you click a different plugin. I think there was discussion that maybe only WAVES audio plugins caused this, but I tried it with 2 MAGIX plugs, an Accentize and an Izotope (no Waves) and it still resizes. This really slows me down when doing audio editing and mixing (which I do a lot). Is there a way to just turn it off under the INTERNAL settings perhaps? NOTE: video tracks plugins--the button works as it should.

Thx. jmm in STL

PS: I'd still love to be able to have two audio FX windows open simultaneously, like you can in proTools. I like having a VU meter plugin always open on my MASTER audio fader in addition to my audio FX.
