Unlicensed.

"An online connection could not be established. Please make sure your computer is correctly connected to the Internet. A firewall may also be blocking access." Vegas msg

WHY

I paid and have a licence however I didn't have internet so I am unable to continue doing my work.

WHY

VEGAS Pro
It is possible that your system's hardware has changed.

It hadn't been changed unless using a WEB cam is considered changing the hardware.

Very annoyed with this petty time consuming problem.

So I am not allowed to work on Vegas if I don't have an internet connection?

Can someone enlighten me?

Thanks.

Are you saying you never have an internet connection?

I have internet and I can't get my license to activate. There might be something wrong with VP's online servers this week . . .

Thanks for the replies.

It appears the software was having a bad day. It seemed to think I was not registered which is very annoying.

Next time I connected to the internet it sorted itself out but it should not have happened in the first place.

Gary stated back in 2017 [edited yr] the software tried to call home but if it has no internet connection it won't stop you from working except it did in this case. I hope that was a one off gllitch.

I wanted to do a quick edit before I rushed out of the house only to have the software wanting to call home and after it did call home on a separate day as I couldn't do my quick edit due to time constraints the software decided to crash. I just killed the computer in disgust and went to bed.

I was surprised the next day it did start Vegas 16 Pro and identified it had crashed and recovered so that was at least something.

If you purchased your software from Magix, the support link is at the top of this and every page.

Here's a direct link:

https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/support/interview/

If you purchased your software from a third party vendor or anywhere else, you will need to go through them to resolve your issue, and there have been a lot of problems recently with unrecognized vendors.

Also make sure you are not running with a restrictive firewall, proxy, or antivirus.

The current direct link to the official VEGAS support is https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/support/interview/

The link above still gets you to the same page though (redirect changed).

Changed and noted.

Thanks for the replies re going to support.
I wasn’t going to support as it was a once off, but they could clarify why this happened.
I do run virus- malware-ransoms- web protection aware software which won’t be configured to compromise itself.
Ditto Firewall.
Neither of these had previously caused any problems with Vegas but worth noting.

Mine still isn't working, and I was talking to support today. I did everything he instructed enabling TLS, etc in my internet options, but I got cut off as I had to resume my teaching work for the day. I asked the service rep to email, but he ignored my request.

Anyway, I've tried for almost a week, turning firewalls on and off, enabling and updating all ports, etc. I've tried turning off Windows defender in multiple menus, but even though it says it's off it still might be in some hidden menu inside another window. I'm putting my computer at too much risk and it's already crashed once and had to repair itself.

The discounts have nothing to do with this.

Rochelle-Smith wrote on 9/1/2024, 10:01 PM

Having spent 5 days on this now, I had to disable Defender, and go back and make sure EACH of the firewall settings was turned off after trying a dozen other things. It finally worked.
