Put your video in the video timeline, not the PiP timeline

Put your 720p video in a 720p project.

That of course won't solve the problem which is as robertOZ points out is because the "PIP Track" is being used. This track is a trap for the unwary as it has a PIP FX applied to the track (not track motion). The FX can, of course, be muted or removed if one wants to use the track. Or just delete the track and insert a new one.

And thus it should be better the program does not start with all those predefined tracks.
No or only video- and audio- tracks are better, for sure for Studio beginners but also for experienced people that has now at first step delete all those predefined tracks, as I always do.😞

This started at the morning R/D meeting when one asked "How can we fix something in VMS that isn't broken? " and a PIP track was one of the suggestions.

** My other NLE has same thing but it can be set on/off in preferences, it's clip based not track.

Yes, I've also come across other less sophisticated NLEs where one of the preference options is to set the number and type of tracks that appear in a new project.

You can setup a projectemplate with the tracks you always need and load that project each time when you start a new project.

The PIP fx can also be event based instead of track based, so there is no need for a special PIP track.
